Say Something

Oh man how long had it been since he actually went out to do something fun? The past few months had been nothing but drama-filled and emotional, things he didn't handle well at all. Between making sure Beatrice was settled into Hammel without any problems and all of the things happening with Alex and even with Lucy, he'd been so caught up in the high school nonsense that he hadn't had any time to celebrate his own birthday, let alone the joint birthday celebration him and Lucy always had starting way back when they were sixteen. It was a tradition of sorts, one that he often looked forward to because he got to hog his best friend's attention for the night.
Both of them had been dealing with stuff, and though Rowan wanted to tell her the most recent news of how things played out between him and Alex, he didn't want to get into the drama. They needed a night of fun, a celebration of their birthdays. They were a year older (except Lucy had another day) and they were lacking fun. Rowan simply couldn't have that because they were the most fun people to be around at all times of course. Even when they were drunk, it was just a matter of having a filter or not. Though Rowan wanted to drink for his birthday, after his most recent experience drinking he wasn't sure he could handle it. The last thing he wanted to do was make another colossal mistake.
Rowan ran his hand through his hair, taking one last glance in the mirror before snatching Lucy from her room and heading out for the night. Luckily it was before curfew, not that he ever really paid any attention to curfew, but still it was nice not having the security staff breathing down their necks. He tossed his arm around her shoulders as they headed towards the club and smiled, "You ready to have a wicked good time? Granted it won't be nearly as fantastic as the time all those years ago, but I mean, I'm pretty sure nothing could compare to that!"
