It was true that Phoenix was a lot better than he used to be, but that didn't mean he wasn't still terribly dependent on his more capable husband. If anything were to happen to Oriel and he couldn't be around anymore, he would worry the most about how Phoenix was going to handle it and whether he could get along without him.
Though Oriel was more than proud of the progress that Phoenix had made since he had first met him all those years ago under that tree by the pond when he was still a junkie. He was a little concerned by Phoenix being around the crowd he was all day, with all the other addicts in the rehab center, but as it turned out, it wasn't as bad as he'd initially thought. He'd heard from several others that helping others stay on track helped keep themselves on track. And, Oriel supposed, that made sense. Taking care of Phoenix for so many years had helped Oriel get his own life together.
And now look where they were. Married and with a newly adopted baby girl. They both had jobs that suited them. And they had friends who were more than willing to help when they needed it.
"Yeah, she does," Oriel agreed. "….hopefully she stays like that for a few more hou---urs." Oriel yawned on that last word, the lack of sleep suddenly catching up with him. The warm drink hadn't helped him wake up but only seemed to be quickly pushing him the other way. He backed away from the crib to allow Phoenix his chance to say goodnight. His hand found that of his spouse and clasped around it. Oriel lowered his forehead onto the shoulder of his love as they started to head back to their bedroom. "I…am all yours," he said sleepily, nudging his temple against Phoenix's. "I'll need my blankie." On that note, they returned to the master bedroom and climbed back into bed.
