Kristina tried thinking back to her time spent at Hammel, which had spanned several years as well, due to her earlier manifestation and staying the extra year to gain control of her power and pass the required English classes. She mostly kept to herself, focusing on her studies and her evergrowing obsession with photography. She hid behind the camera, happy to observe other people's lives instead of her own.

"Yes. Surprised we didn't see each other there." Kristina commented. Especially since herself and Brooke were only a couple of years apart. She never realized how... isolated she was from everyone else. "Only two years." Kristina added, nodding at her initial estimation. Made sense, since Brooke's initial plans in coming to the university today involved touring the campus and looking around.

"Maybe we passed by each other without realizing it." Kristina concluded, looking over at the pretty girl with another nod. Even now, the Czech girl didn't have the most inviting facial expression. She always looked serious and involved, a set destination in mind with no room for small talk.

"I have a bias, but the Czech Republic and Europe as a whole have very interesting historical sites." Not that Kristina could speak for other countries, but from looking online. When she could afford to, it was her dream to travel back and explore all of the sites that interested her. And take thousands of photos. "Exactly... isn't there a quote about history repeating itself?" Kristina asked, furrowing her eyebrows together. Maybe that was the quote itself, she didn't know.

"That would be nice." Kristina agreed, sighing. Escape to a warm, sunny place? Sounded good to her.

Brooke shrugged. “Guess so,” she agreed. Then again, two years ago…well, two years ago, Brooke was very much more of a party girl than she was today. Two years ago, her emotional problems had kicked in full force, after having tried to keep them at bay for the time prior to that, after she’d first come to Hammel. Brooke wasn’t in the realm of wanting or caring to remember anybody she met back then, just on when she could have her next adrenaline rush.

She cocked her head. “But I’m glad I got to see you and meet you today! Must be fate!” Brooke slapped her hands together in a sort of prayer motion, raising them both to the sky. “Praise be to God!” she cried. Brooke giggled and brought her hand down. “Or something like that, right?”

Brooke nodded sharply, agreeing with Kristina’s assessment of Europe and Czech history. “You’re right. Eeeverybody here always wants you to know about American history but they forget that Europe and all those place out there have histories a million times older than what we got here!” It was kind of sad, and only pointed out just how ego-centric American culture could be. Eeeeverything was about them.

Well, Brooke was american too, so maybe that made her a hypocrite?

Kristina smiled a little when Brooke had mentioned them meeting was fate. She hadn't expected to meet someone new today while photographing the world around her. Was it a pleasant surprise? Kristina would say so. The other dark haired girl seemed like a real sweetheart, and was clearly quite intelligent. "Better late than never right?" Kristina remembered seeing that quote somewhere. She snorted at her prayer motion, shrugging. "Yeah... like that." A smile appeared on her face.

"There's history everywhere. I love learning about all the different countries. It's interesting to read about. And yeah, that's true." Kristina agreed, nodding her head. "But, I also like American history. A lot has happened in its relatively small life as a country." And now, the Czech girl found herself rambling. "Like, you can pick up any textbook and just read and get so into it... I love it."

“Mmm!” Brooke agreed. “That’s what I always say.” She paused, looking up to remember and ponder. “But my teachers seem to disagree on that point when I use it as an excuse for being late, so maybe not in every case.” Because sometimes, being late could have dire consequences. Like detention. Brooke wasn’t exactly the most punctual person. That was because she too often liked doing her own thing.

She was glad that this conversation was going better than it started, now with Kristina smiling at Brooke’s zaniness rather than scowling at it. Brooke mirrored her smile.

“Yeah, that’s true too. But there’s also a lot of history from before America was “discovered” too. What sucks is that there isn’t a whole lotta info on that save for ruins and what they can piece together.” There was a lot of lost history in America. Brooke liked learning about that stuff too. “Yep! That’s what I do sometimes. Just grab a random book from the library and have at.” It was definitely one of her favorite pastimes.

A small alarm started beeping from the slim girl’s pocket and she pulled out her phone. “Ahh-hhaaahh…” she wailed softly. “I gotta zoom or I’mma be walking my way back to PR and I’ll tell ya, that’ll be rough even on my little piggies.” She stuck out her tongue as she stood up straight and extended her hand. “T’was good t’meetcha, Kristina. Hope t’see you again!” She really did.

"Teachers generally do frown upon being late." Kristina agreed. "Least in high school. In university, they don't care." She said with a shrug. The Czech girl thought back to when she was late for a lecture, half expecting the doors to be locked. Thankfully, they weren't, and she had been able to slip in relatively unnoticed.

Nodding, Kristina agreed with Brooke's assessment on American history. All of it taught throughout high school had essentially been when the Europeans came over, since beforehand there wasn't a lot of documentation on the First Nations. She smiled at their similar hobby, as it faded into a frown when Brooke's alarm began to go off. "That's a shame." Kristina said, setting aside her camera onto the top of the table before the smile reappeared. "Yeah, it nice talking to you. I'm sure we will run into each other again. Small town." She shook Brooke's hand, giving a final wave as the eccentric girl went off to catch her ride.
