Have you ever wanted to try out your chances at modeling, but haven't been given the opportunity?

From the Spectrum is looking for fresh young faces, and it could be YOU!

We're searching for four Pilot Ridge locals between the ages of sixteen and twenty-one to participate in our upcoming photoshoot. We will choose two males and two females from the contenders.

Winners will receive $500, along with the chance to create their own looks from our designs in their very own, personal photo shoots, with the help of one of our current fashion models. The best photos will be displayed in our store, as well as in our website and in advertisements.

We do not discriminate by race, size, disability, or any other personal factors - we just want YOU.

Reasons for Applying: 
Fashion has always been my thing--even if people don't agree with what I consider fashion. I believe in wearing your hair messy and yes I think that clashing patterns are fun and that black goes with everything. Ultimately, I want to show people that you don't have to be tall to be a model or to have a kick-ass style. Your personal style is what makes you own a room when you walk into it and I think it's important that everyone has an individual style. 
I love the power fashion gives you and I love how it exposes you to the world. I've been told I should be a model and although I don't necessarily agree, I'm willing to give it a shot.


Tell us a little about you! 
I'm a journalism major at the University of Vermont and the Editor in Chief of the university newspaper. I'm a really passionate person and I think this is where it really comes through. I want to write hard-hitting articles with headlines everyone wants to snag as their own. 
I love a good thrill and my idea of fun is different from that of most people. I'm passionate about life and making something of myself, but I'm also very much a realist. I can keep a level head when I need to. I'm honest and I think my style reflects that.

Reasons for Applying: The only thing I love more than shopping is to pair my clothes and create interesting outfits. I'd love the chance to showcase my style and share my ideas with the public! Fashion has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl and instead of just posing for other people's ideas, this will allow me to add my own creative flair and make it all my own.
Tell us a little bit about you! I'm a junior at Hammel Institute, originally from California. Back home as a child, I use to model for children's clothing stores before moving to Vermont. I've continued to model for other people's independent projects and have been featured in a few fashion catalogs. I have the experience and am looking for the opportunity to take it a step further and help contribute fashionable ideas.
Though I haven't thought about it too much, modelling and fashion is an industry I would like to be a part of in some way. I enjoy modelling and spending time creating my own spin on classic, preppy wardrobe essentials. Maybe I'll get a business degree and start my own fashion line!

Unlike a lot of people who might apply, Fashion isn't my biggest passion ever. I care about how I look, but in a more every-day way. I have my own style and like to show my personality and how I'm feeling through my clothing - I feel like anything you do in life should be connected to who you are, and this definitely isn't discluded. I love the idea of showing who you are to the world without having to speak a word, by just being who you are and showing that through what you wear.

Also, I've been told in the past that I look like a model so I thought, why not?

Currently, I'm being taught at the Hammel Institute; I've stayed for another year to make sure I can get the best grades possible. I'm also part of their dance team. I've been dancing for most of my life, and I enjoy it so much! I've never had any experience modelling, but I like exploring and trying new things, so I hope I can take part in this opportunity.

Funnily enough, I'm usually the one behind the camera, not in front of it. If I'm not dancing, I'm taking pictures of things. I have a photography blog that I post to on at least a weekly basis. At the moment, both my dancing and photography had been put on hold because of an injury I incurred whilst dancing, ironically enough. 

As a person, I'm open, honest and friendly. I'm not afraid to lend a hand to those who need it and I'm loyal to those I care about. I'm pretty laid-back, and my clothes usually represent that, but I do have a lot of emotion and love to express myself.

Honestly I have never modeled, nor have I ever really thought about doing it. However, I'm a very creative person, I love being creative, and I love getting my hands dirty so to speak. I have dabbled into a lot of different kinds of art (when I say dabbled I mean tried and fell in love with). Like I said, I'm very creative, and this goes toward my fashion sense, I have a very girly style, I love wearing dresses and skirts. I think getting this job would help me figure myself out more, and expand my senses of art. I know how to make clothing, so I know I have a critical tongue when to comes to fashion.

After thinking about it, I realized that fashion lets you express yourself. Everyone has a different style, and taste. Just like there are different flowers, and each type of flower is unique in it's own way.

I want to inspire people that you don't have to look like model to be pretty. You don't have to be super skinny, Because I'm totally not, I'm kind of chubby. I'm also not that pretty, not model pretty anyways. I also want everyone to know that they are flower pretty, and that's more important than model pretty, even though model pretty is good, for well models...

Hmm, where should I start? Well, I was born and raised in Canada, I came to Vermont to go to private school. If your wondering why I have a Chinese last name, when I'm not Chinese; I was adopted when I was a baby. I guess you could have guessed that, sorry.

I dream of opening my own art shop, selling paintings, sketches, plushies, hats, gloves, blankets, plaster stuff, clay figures, clay pots, anything artsy really. I want to make and sell it all! I also want to have a program to teach little kids to make art, like paintings and stuff.

Well to start of sorry for the multiple pictures their put together already and I couldn't find the one by it's self and i couldn't find any other good pictures. Back on track i want to try out because i think it will be super duper fun. Like i'm a photographer myself and I love taking pictures and showcasing peoples inner beauty and I thought maybe it's my turn to be on the other end of the camera. I think I have some beauty to show off to others to and it will be different.

Plus it would be awesome to see how a real photoshoot works. Maybe I could get some tips from who taking pictures of me. All in all I just think it will be fun to meet some new people and gain some new memory's.
You could give he cash prizes to the runner up if I won for all I care. Just seems like a good experience for those years later i'm telling my grandchildren what their grandma did when she was younger. 


Tell us a little about you!: Well my name is Madison, i'm 16, and as of recently Hammel is my school and home. Before that the world was my home because me and my parents were stayed traveling in our RV. My passion are dancing and photography. I love to capture the beauty that others miss in their self and others. I have a lot of other hobbies because well i'm always trying new things but those two are the ones i stick with. The only experience I have dealing with modeling is when I my grandmama had me put my neighbor's dress on to see if it would fit the girl who she was giving it to but other then that never tried it but i'm a fast learner.

When i'm done with college i'm going to spend my time traveling and probably protesting something knowing me. Trying to change the world and all that good stuff.

Reasons for Applying:Since the age of 6, I have wanted to break into the fashion industry. I strongly believe that clothes can say more about a person than any other form of art. And yes, fashion is truly an artform. The way you dress not only says a lot about you, but it can change your mood and accentuate your personality.

I would love the opportunity to experience a real fashion photo shoot. Most of my experience is with fashion shows and runways. I'd love to be a part of something real, something impactful - that will not only broaden my view on the fashion industry, but broaden the world's view on what fashion can be and what your clothes can say.

My name is Eloise, but I like to go by Ella. I didn't have a true home growing up, and instead traveled the world with my father. I spent a lot of my childhood in Europe, but also experienced India, Australia, Japan, and Brazil. Growing up without a mother, I always looked for an outlet for pritter, girlier endeavors. I saw my first runway show in Milan when I was six, and instantaneously became obsessed with fashion. I've been sketching, sewing, and wearing my own creations ever since.

I'm now 18, and a senior at the Hammel Institute. My plans currently involve taking a year off to travel and design, but then I would love to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, or Parsons in France. Fashion was my best friend throughout my childhood, and I want it to be part of me for the rest of my life. My biggest dream is to present at fashion week in Milan, and inspire young girls the same way I had been.

Reasons for Applying: Whilst I haven't ever really followed fashion before, I know that in the line of work I want to do image is important and my own look is something I am proud of. I'll be the first to admit my style is a little rough around the edges, but that just adds to the grunge charm. Besides, I think I scrub up pretty good too, as the attached picture should show. I think I could learn a lot from this, as well as rock the catwalk while I'm at it. Besides, tall skinny Scottish guys are bang on trend. Just look at that bloke who used to be on Doctor Who.

Tell us a little about you! I'm an aspiring trials bike rider with big dreams and the balls necessary to get there. I don't settle for second in any aspect of my life, and yeah I'll admit I do have a bit of an ego but I've found that just helps me push forward with what I need to do. It definitely helps in the competition circuit. A few years back I did a bit of modelling for the sports store back home and I did get a kick out of it and put the money to use buying my first proper trials bike. I love being able to express myself through what I am doing and what I am wearing; I am very much not a believer in letting the herd dictate my movement. If the sheep want to run off that way then fine, but I'll be over here rocking to the beat of my own drum.

Haha, why not? If I get in, I'll have bragging rights. If I don't, who cares? It's my philosophy in life to try everything at least once. Plus, it'd probably be a fun experience, or at least interesting to learn how photoshoots work. I have friends back home who're interested in photography and stuff like that, so it'd be cool to tell them about it, too.

Hobbies? I like skateboarding, mostly because no one ever thinks a blind girl can skateboard and it's fun to prove them wrong. Swimming ain't bad either.
My goal for life is just to live it, break out of boxes, and experience as many things as possible. I'm going to travel, and experience other languages and cultures, and probably annoy natives with my bad skills in their language.

I have zero experience with modeling fashion! Ha! My friends back in my old high-school liked to dress me up and pose me for their photography classes though, if that counts as anything.
