Cameron had been back for a while now, and he was still trying to work up the courage to find and see Chester. He hadn’t been able to find Dec, and Tak had found him, as had Jared. It wouldn’t be physically finding Chest that would be the hard part, but actually doing so. They hadn’t spoken in so long, he wondered if they were even friends anymore. He wondered if Chester wanted anything to do with him. Cam would never forget the last time they saw each other about a year ago. He was reminded of Chester every day in same way or another, and he missed him. He was mad at Chest, but Cam missed him anyways.
Parking in the familiar spot, Cameron killed the engine and hesitated. He hadn’t even taken Chester for a spin, not really. He had thought about calling Chest first, or at least texting, but then Cam would lose his gusto. He wasn’t sure what he wanted to say, or how, but he really just wanted to see Chester again. There had to be something there still, Cam knew it deep down inside. Chest would always be the love he could never have. He knew it was stupid to talk to someone who had kissed him just for the sake of doing it, to see what would happen, and then walk away and never speak to him again.
But he was tired of waiting and doing nothing about it – he had run away for too long.
That last thought was enough to get him out of the truck and walking up the grand driveway, but he hesitated at the door. Running both hands through his hair and leaving them on the top of his head, Cam paced back and forth. Maybe too much had changed between them... Maybe Cam was only doing that thing called wishful thinking. He sighed, letting his hands fall and licking his lips, staring at the door. What did he have to lose? He knocked and waited, feeling more nervous than he ever had before.
