Home Ec was one of those classes where you either do very well in or you fail miserably. Sawyer, unfortunately, was in the latter portion. She couldn't cook for the life of her and needles and threads? So not her thing. But it was the only class she had that she was failing. Fortunately, she was cruising slightly above average for the others but she needed to be above average for this class too in order to get a passing grade. Enough to graduate.
She had her powers training down pat so there was nothing to worry about there. She was even participating more in extra-curricular activities but Home Ec? That stumped her but good.
Staring down at the bowl on the table with the ingredients for a simple brownie by its side, Sawyer poked at the softening butter and wondered why the hell she needed to pass this class when she knew she was never going to be in the kitchen ever. Sighing, she turned to look at the recipe book to follow the instructions.
It was okay the first few steps but when the electric mixer came to the forefront, Sawyer looked at it as though it had affronted her. "Are you kidding me?" She spoke to herself before pulling the machine closer to her. Having mixed in everything into a bowl, she gulped before turning the machine on.
Nothing happened.
She flipped the switch a few more times and then realised that the cord was not plugged in. "Well that was dumb." She laughed at herself before plugging it in and switching it on, unwittingly switching the machine on as well. "Shit!" She yelled out when everything in the bowl started flying everywhere.
In her state of panic, she just stared at the flying ingredients, unaware that there was someone at the doorway.
