Miles was confused a lot of the time. People in general tended to confuse him. If he asked every time he was confused throughout the day he would spend way too much time asking questions. And while he was getting better about asking things when he really needed to know, he still tended to not enjoy the experience.
"I have a sister," Miles answered. He wasn't sure if that counted as a big family. It was big enough for him. He had heard that some people in this school had ten or more siblings. He didn't think he would like that at all. He was sure it would be way too loud all the time.
Miles wouldn't have called it "fun" to leave people hanging. It was just sometimes he couldn't stand to be touched. Just like some days he couldn't bring himself to talk with anyone either. He was glad though that the teachers didn't seem upset by his admission.
He figured that teachers had to be rule followers. It was probably in their contracts they had to sign when they started working at Hammel. Still it was glad to hear them say that they were rule-lovers as well.
Miles glanced around, his eyes darting from where his buttons were to where the backpacks were. He started to chew on one of his sleeves while he thought. Though it looked like they would be safe and out of the way, after having almost lost them just a few minutes ago he wanted to make sure they would be good and safe. Still the men were being so nice. And he wanted to play with them, only because he thought that would be a good way to say 'thank you'.
"They'd be safer in my closet," he mumbled around his sleeve. "But I could come back to play." Hopefully that would be okay. He didn't want to upset the nice men by turning down their offer, but he would feel so much calmer with his buttons back where they belonged.
((wrap soon-ish?))
