::Appearance::
With how comfortable with her body she is, Anthy doesn't try to cover up every inch of herself. No, she wears what she feels looks good or is cute, and most importantly what she personally finds comfortable. Her fashion revolves around having her arms and legs exposed most of the time and in warmer seasons, string-sleeve tops with the occasional band-sleeve mixed in. In winter, she is of course a bit more covered up, but not as much as one would expect to be normal. The sleeves she does wear are usually loose-knit and she opts for shorts with leg warmers over actually wearing long pants.
Anthy doesn't have any really noteworthy scars, just a couple here and there from when she had the chicken pox as a kid. Her ears are pierced, one in each lobe and a top piercing in the right ear though she never uses it.
::Powers In Depth::
Anthy's ability revolves around light. Her body collects external light in a way, stores it, and expels it at a later date whether it is by causing random parts of her to glow or her discharging it in a flash. Though this can be done with artificial light, sunlight is best due to it's intensity. She is not in complete control of her power yet, so accidents often happen. Usually it involves the glowing of random parts of her body when she becomes excited, nervous, or blushes. In fact, it sometimes replaces her actual blushing. Which is the least of her worries as it could be something worse... like her bottom lighting up like a Christmas tree.
The intensity of the light she expels varies depending on how much external light she had absorbed earlier, how long it had been since her last "charge", and how emotional she is while the power is active. Glowing of course kills the charge a lot slower than a brilliant flash. It is like tapping from a reservoir so of course the stronger the light she gives off, the more it will take from her. It is quite possible for her to overextend and end up being left weakened or even in near critical condition. Also, with the brighter flashing, the intensity of the light if she is not well prepared, will burn her. With how little control she actually has of her power, the burn risk is much higher right now than it might be later down the line when she has had proper training. Of course the burns vary depending on the intensity of the heat of the flash. The burns can vary from first to third. Not pleasant.
When she has not gotten enough external light exposure, Anthy will be unable to bring out even a small amount of glowing as the energy is being used to keep her going. Long enough without external light exposure, and she will weaken, become lethargic, tired, and so on. Too long, and she will start becoming narcoleptic and much longer after that point and she is likely to go comatose.
The amount of external light she needs, varies on how much she uses her powers (and how much they just happen to use themselves much to her annoyance and embarrassment). She's pretty good at storing it for a few days as long as she eats properly and gets good rest so her body doesn't leech off of it as an energy source. Mind you, if she is tired for other reasons besides lack of stored light, she won't just be all better after a sunbathing session or anything. Her main source of energy as far as functioning normally is the same as almost anyone else.
If she gets too much external light, she is prone to more accidental glowing. She hasn't experimented with this much, seeing how she's a bit timid when it comes to her power.
::Sexuality::
Anthy hadn't really thought about where her interests lay as far as sexuality but she's pretty certain she's not interested in getting very far in a relationship with another girl. Yes, she finds both genders attractive, but she can't imagine herself "going all the way" with another female... Even if she's too embarrassed to think about getting all sexual with a male either. Final decision would be straight but willing to test the waters.
::Personality::
Anthy is pretty shy when it comes to meeting new people. She doesn't really understand it herself as she knows it isn't some kind of fear, but she tends to become timid and depending on how many new people she is meeting at a time, sometimes even nervous to where she's stumbling over her words. Once she gets to know someone, she's much better about that and even opens up. She is more comfortable around the same gender than the opposite due to her earlier years having been spent in an all girl's school. She is very protective of friends she grows close to and loyal to a fault. If she finds out that someone she believed to be a friend has done something cruel to her or another friend of hers though, that is where the loyalty has a line drawn at and she will try to avoid the person thereafter.
She is very slow to anger, her feelings getting hurt quicker than her temper flaring visibly. And she will try not to show her hurt feelings, keeping them bottled up the best she can until she's by herself. Even if some glowing might give her away.
She is quite embarrassed when it comes to her power. It makes her feel self conscious often and she tries to get it to stop whenever it starts to act up. When she does use it intentionally, it is through much hesitation and with her pleading with it to behave. Yes, she talks to her power. Like it can really understand her or something. This is because she's embarrassed of it to the point where she is trying to disassociate it from herself rather than accepting that it is a part of her.
She has an unexplainable phobia of cats. Not the large cats such as pumas and tigers. No, she is absolutely terrified of the small domesticated cats and their feral siblings. Small. If she sees a kitten she would likely try not to panic. If one touched her, it's very likely she would accidentally blind the room, scream, and faint.
The quickest way to win her over is peanut butter cookies. She adores them. She also talking over long walks. It helps her to bond with whomever she is walking with. While she is walking, she feels less anxious.
Anthy has an on and off imaginary friend she hadn't quite given up on yet. This is actually just a form of stress relief for her, the "friend" saying things in her mind that vents her frustrations and sometimes teases her. Though there are words of encouragement too so it balances out.
She has never had a crush before, and though she had made friends, they weren't the kind that were to last forever. Though she is interested in making more friends, most people have likely been given the impression that she would prefer to be alone or that she was uncomfortable with much interaction due to her shyness. Likely, as she isn't sure on if that is the case or not.
::History::
Anthy was born on June sixteenth to a Phillip and Emily Blacksmith. Nine pounds, one ounce, ten fingers and ten toes. She wasn't exactly planned, but she wasn't made out to be a mistake either. No, her parents loved her and provided for her well thanks to her mother having been from a wealthy family. Though, her father still was employed, being the type to want to bring home the bacon, even if they were well off enough already. So it was her mother that did most of the raising up until Anthy was old enough to start going to school.
As her mother had been raised up going to all girl schools, Anthy was set to follow the same path as Emily felt it was the best way to go about things. And as Anthy grew older, she even went to all girl camps during the summer. Though the children were all female, there was one staff member by the name of Thomas Williams, that helped run the camp. This particular staff member was actually the reason why Emily had been so intent on her daughter going to camp...
It wasn't as much of a surprise to Phillip as it should have been, when Emily confronted him one day about the affair she had been having and the fact that she had been having an affair. The talks and arguments were kept out of Anthy's hearing and sight so she was completely unaware of the rift that was forming between her parents. That was why it came as a shock to her when, a while after Anthy's twelfth birthday, her mother was moving out. Custody had been given to her father. And though there were supposed to be visits arranged, her mother never met up with those "appointments" and it was like the woman vanished off of the face of the earth for Anthy.
Her father worked hard to make sure that his daughter didn't take any blame on to herself. And his efforts were fruitful as she didn't feel like it was her fault and understood that sometimes people just stop caring about each other as much as they used to. Well, to the best of her ability. She still didn't understand completely on why her mother would have left her behind. Still, even at that age, Anthy felt like her father might have needed her more, as he would have been alone otherwise.
The father daughter relationship actually flourished more with it being just the two of them. Though they had to move into a smaller house and he had to work more hours, they were happy. He took her out of private schooling though. Not only did it make him uncomfortable to have to deal with the somewhat snobby teachers there during parent teacher meetings, but it was making a large dent in his paycheck and he wouldn't have been able to keep it up for long without things getting difficult for them. She finished out the school year at the all girl's school though, him trying to prepare her over the summer for the pros and cons of the public school she would be enrolled into the following year.
Anthy found public school difficult. It wasn't due to the lack of uniforms or the fact that the students were more rowdy, but more of the fact that she wasn't used to interacting with students of the opposite gender. She was already a bit on the shy side, but the experience brought that shyness out all the more and left her a bit timid when it came to interacting with new people. Of course, the disorganization didn't help much either. She did gradually begin to open up to a couple of the students though that first year. The second year went a bit smoother.
It was during the summer of her fourteenth year that Anthy began to have.... odd... things happening. Her father had actually been the one to notice it first and had rushed her from the park they had been having a picnic at and home. He had caught her glowing some. It had been minor enough to not be too obvious but he had been sitting close enough to where he had caught it. It was on the way home, that the glowing got brighter as he tried to figure out what might have been going on with her. His less than collected reaction to her glowing even brighter only caused the situation to get worse as the distress caused Anthy to actually flash for a moment, almost causing an accident. Luckily, her father had the reflex to push the brake pedal rather than veer off the road.
As he went to trying to blink the spots out of his eyes, he tried to calm himself down so he could help her calm down too as she was beginning to glow all over again. He went to bluffing, pretending that everything was alright even if he wasn't sure on if it was. Somehow, he managed to calm Anthy down to where she wasn't a living glow-stick as he went to driving again. As they pulled up the driveway though, there was someone waiting for them. After asking to be invited inside about matters involving Anthy's new development, the person was invited inside and they all took a seat in the living room.
The man explained that some people are born different, and that Anthy was one of those people. She has a power that could neither be understood or be handled by the every day people and that at Hammel Institute she would get the proper training and knowledge she would need. Anthy wasn't taking this very well though as she felt like she had just begun to get used to the life she had now. At first, Anthy was in denial. She tried to find any and every way that he might have been wrong and that she might not have been glowing. But in the middle of her trying to explain that, she had gotten worked up enough to where she had begun glowing again. More obviously this time. So, her debating fell flat. Then, she tried to convince him that she might be able to just make it go away by thinking of ways to get the glowing to stop. Alas, that had the opposite effect as her anxiousness had it kicking in more. Finally, she ended up giving in even if she was a bit depressed about it. Her father assuring her that it couldn't be that bad, helped some though.
It was not long after, that she was getting moved into the Institute, some of her belongings being delivered there as well.

It had been what, two years now? Yeah, around that. Anthy was still getting used to her life here. But, in her defense, there was a lot to get used to. All these people, for one. Another, all the powers they had. As shy as she was, and as timid, she hadn't really interacted much with anyone besides the requirements and all. She sighed and rolled over onto her stomach, a small blue teddy-bear held in both hands as she looked it and sighed.
"Well, it's not like I can really start being social now, is it? I mean, I've kind of already given the impression to everyone that I like spending time by myself and stuff, right?" She said to the bear.
<Well, there's no telling for sure until you get out there and mingle, Glowbutt.>
Anthy lowered her head, mushing the bear's head against her face some as she gave a groan of frustration at the on and off imaginary friend piping up the way she had. Anthy reeaaally hated that nickname.
<If I'm so imaginary then why do you keep acknowledging me?>
She sighed and moved the bear's head away from her face a bit.
"Because I'm lonely, and I haven't found a way to let you go yet." She replied.
She knew she was only encouraging herself to continue with this behavior, but it wasn't like anyone was listening. She only had these conversations when she was alone. Well, only participated when she was alone. She heard her friend off and on randomly.
<Get out there, or I'm going to start listing off all of the things that make you squirm.>
With a sigh, she put the bear down and got up off of the bed before leaving the room.
"It's almost the middle of the night. Who's even going to be up and about right now?" She muttered softly.
There was silence. Of course there was. Biting the corner of her lip, she began her way down the hall and towards the kitchen. Well, she might as well grab a little snack while she was out of her room...
