The BasicsName: Corbin Anthony Jacobs
Nicknames: Just Corbin
Age: 26
Orientation: I may be open to consideration for the right guy, but we can safely call me hetero
Desired Rank/Job: Townie - Welder/Machinist
Powers: Stoneskin and ultra durability
Corbin's power works very similarly to 'stoneskin' spells in video games, save for the fact that it is passive and he has no control over it. His skin is very resistant not only to slicing and puncturing, but also to extreme temperature (and to a lesser degree pressure). Along with his skin's natural resilience, the rest of Corbin's anatomy is somewhat hardened. His bones are harder to break, his muscles more resistant to tearing, cartilage that can take harder hits, the usual stuff.
Given the passive nature of his power, Corbin's side effects are less extreme than some, but include an increased metabolism, numbness - especially in his extremities, and a body and skeletal structure that will stand up to significantly more punishment than his organs will. Also, for whatever reason, his fingernails, toenails, and hair are unaffected and are exactly the same as they would have been had Corbin not manifested.
Power limits include slower-than-average healing in the case of actual injury, and excruciating pain in the case of significant muscle, ligament, or bone damage.. Corbin could withstand a tractor-trailer parking on top of both of his arms (albeit with heavy bruising and a fair bit of pain), but would very likely be killed if he walked into the path of one at any great speed due to internal injury.. therein lies the biggest limit to his ability. Inside his super-durable shell is the typically squishy normal human interior.

General Appearance: Corbin could be adequately described as the type of build that wouldn't generate many complains if he were to walk around shirtless most of the time. He is reasonably thin with well-defined if not bulging muscle structure. He has a strong and masculine chin with medium cheekbones, a light mustache, and thick eyebrows. His typical facial expression is relatively calm and his hair is most often kept between buzz cut and medium-short.
Corbin's closet is full of jeans of all make, color, and age as well as t-shirts varying from plain black to those completely covered in chaotic print. He is not a fan of jackets though he will occasionally wear contrasting undershirts. For shoes, comfort is king. Vans, DCs, Adidas.. Most often on the plain side. He keeps his jewelry limited to a necklace or two, and thee or four rings of varying styles at most. He can often be found wearing sunglasses during the day.
Born of Australian parents, Corbin has a medium tan skin tone and broad shoulders. He stands at six-foot one and weighs between 180 and 210lbs depending on the time of year, winters usually being the heavier months. The most striking thing about Corbin's appearance would likely either be his confident nonchalance or his tattoos.. it would depend on what one was looking for.
Personality: How to describe someone who sees themselves as nothing special... To sum it up in a sentence, Corbin is a remarkably calm and collected individual. He was raised primarily by his mother and so got an early head start on being the man of the house. He has turned level-headedness and remaining calm in a crisis into a simple science, and embodies it. He is quick to admit his wrongs, equally quick to step up and defend someone who is not, and believes that not just ladies, but all people should be treated with respect until they prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they cannot treat others with it.
This is not to say that Corbin is beyond anger or jealousy, depression, sadness, fear... He simply avoids much of it with consideration for the other party involved and by not being afraid to take a moment to consider his thoughts and let someone else calm down. Never one to use his larger-than-average size to his advantage in an argument, Corbin's talking posture is almost always that of nonchalance. He remains calm and relaxed the vast majority of the time. The most reliable ways to provoke a change in his outward attitude involve invoking his considerable sense of loyalty toward his friends and loved ones, or his paternal instincts for someone who does not appear able to defend themselves. Aside from that, Corbin is likely to be the person trying to push two fighters away from each other rather than a fighter himself.
Having been told for years by this point that he would one day be a good father, and having chosen careers that are often lonely and tedious, Corbin is not afraid of silence or boredom and has developed a fantastic determination to get through longer or harder jobs. Perhaps it helps that he is one of very few people that can safely weld all day long shirtless... He is confident in himself without being vain, and while not the smartest person in Pilot Ridge, possesses a great deal of perspective and patience that often makes up for his less-than-college-level reading, writing, and speech skills. There was a time when the aforementioned (lack of) skills rather hampered Corbin's ability and desire to interact with others, and perhaps the fact that when younger he often chose to be alone instead of risking not being able to keep up in coversation has played a larger role than he himself is aware of in his ability to be comfortable while alone and in relative silence.. For the most part Corbin's cousin Esha snapped him out of this 'loner' phase when he was younger, but given the right (or perhaps zero) stimuli, it is not unheard of for Corbin to be asocial or even reclusive in a bit of a throwback to his younger years.Your VicesLikes: Greasy hamburgers and crisp french fries, one too many bites of dessert, sleeping under a warm comforter in a cold room, people who trust enough to accept a genuine apology and reassurance, tattoos, confidence, worn-out jeans that seem like a second skin instead of an item of clothing, old muscle cars, the smell of machine oil and engines and metalworking and welding.. The little things, really.
Dislikes: Misogynists, pick-up artists, vanity, people who will get into arguments at stores or restaurants for no reason just to try to get a better price on their items, people who don't hold the door for someone right behind them, people who see tattoos and assume things about the character of people they've never even met because of them, 40mpg 4-cyllinder cars and how little ability they have to get out of their own way, people who raise a person's hopes only to smash them, people who pick on people smaller than them instead of messing with someone their own size, people who are too thick-headed to hear the reason for something and instead choose to believe what they want and damn the truth.
Strengths: Anything that involves welders, torches, or metalworking. Boxing, running, fishing, listening, kids, being a shoulder to cry on, getting things out of the oven without oven mits, driving.. Uh.. I guess I'm pretty good at rolling.. er.. non-tobacco cigarettes?
Weaknesses: Standing idly by when I could help, even if someone doesn't want me to help.. I'm not the greatest at working on cars and I can't seem to finish books. Reality shows make me angry and country music gets on my nerves really quickly despite my best efforts to like it.. I'm not good at being spontaneous the way most people define it and I'm not a very strong swimmer. It's also really hard for me to relate when someone is in pain over something that's trivial to me.. I can listen and I can support but it's really hard to understand.
Fears: There's a part of me that fears fathers. Not sure why. Maybe it's because mine wasn't around. I am really scared of people - especially kids - seeing me do something that I can do because of my ability and getting hurt because of it.. Suicide scares the heck out of me and waking up in unfamiliar places is pretty terrifying too. It's why I rarely drink hard liquor and won't do any drugs harder than weed. I'm also somewhat scared that people will take my calm face and speech for indifference. I'm not indifferent, I just know that it's not going to help anything if I shout back. That only makes everything worse.
Secret: I have a bit of a mental condition.. and I suffer from occasional dissociative episodes.. During one of them when I was 19, apparently I found my way into a place I shouldn't have been able to get.. and when I did someone tried to stop me. I spent 7 months in prison for aggravated assault but was released without probation for good behavior and because I was diagnosed with this dissociative crap. If it ever happens to me here, I'm deathly afraid that.. someone I care about might think I left them and that it's their fault.Family TiesFather: Jerry Jacobs
Mother:Elise Jacobs
Siblings: n/a
Any Other Important People:My little cousin Esha who was like a sister to me growing upHistoryBorn on April 19th, 1988 in a quiet little down near Tucson Arizona, Corbin quickly found a love for the outdoors, sweet tea, and ice cream. By the time he was six, his father had moved out of state to better provide for his family and.. liked it better there than at home. By the age of seven, Corbin was helping with chores, yardwork, and anything else his mother needed help with. She was a kind and pleasant woman, but very particular especially since her husband had left, and when things weren't right it was up to Corbin to make them right and keep her settled and calm. By the age of twelve Corbin was the town's star paper boy, and shortly after his thirteenth birthday following a horrific crash on his bicycle that resulted in no injuries whatsoever, Corbin was enrolled in Hammel through his highschool years.
During that time, Corbin's mother moved to Alaska to be nearer her husband.. whose job had become that of a fisherman on the Bering Sea.. Leaving Corbin with basically no family ties near enough to visit and nothing to return to Arizona for. He was a rather unassuming B/C student through his education at Hammel, and attended a vocational school in Vermont that taught him all he needed to know about Machining and welding. Two areas in which Corbin simply excelled. He thrived on the creative yet structural nature of both crafts. How his job could provide him with silence and isolation but still affect the lives of countless people. He worked for a year welding barges together for a company near Burlington and saved enough money to buy his own building and equipment back in Pilot Ridge.. where he's been for the past several years working as a job shop, custom machinist, welder, and whatever else people need done in the field of making metal do worthwhile things.
Corbin stays busy four to six days a week, making a very comfortable living for himself doing something he quite enjoys doing. He has a few friends, is a bit of a movie buff (especially scifi), and very much enjoys taking long drives be it to deliver orders to customers or just to drive. About the only thing missing in Corbin's life at this point is someone to spend the rest of it with.. but for the moment the only girl he has in his mind is his cousin Esha.. Diagnosed and being treated for breast cancer back in Arizona.Roleplay ExampleI got lots of these on the board..What About You?Name: I'm Deuce, of course.
