The Basics

Powers: Amber has the ability to stick to different surfaces by secreting a kind of temporary adhesive from her pores. It mainly comes out of the palms of her hands, her fingertips, the bottoms of her feet, and the tips of her toes .... But it has been known to accidentally be squeezed out elsewhere on her body as she hadn't had the chance to learn how to use her ability just yet. The secretion evaporates fairly quickly so to be able to stick onto something for more than a few seconds at a time, her body needs to continue to excrete the adhesive. One of the problems with this is the fact that sometimes she doesn't know how to stop producing the adhesive and this can cause her to either stick to everything she touches, or for her to get stuck in one place due to having effectively glued herself there. The adhesive is water soluble and has a sweet scent to it. Sometimes the excretion responds to stress, so if her stress levels go up, she is likely to become stuck to something. Due to her power, Amber has to consume pretty large amounts of sugars, but even if it's good for her ability, it isn't necessarily good for her ADHD as, as soon as she goes over the limit that she needs to for her ability to function properly, she becomes even more hyperactive than usual and more easily distracted. If Amber doesn't keep up on her sugar intake properly and gets past the point where her power runs dry, she goes through  the symptoms of Hypoglycemia. Eating spicy foods makes the secretion burn on the way out and when the burning comes, it's hard for her to stop the secretion (kind of like how eyes water when irritated) so she will have the problem of sticking to everything then as well.

General Appearance: Standing at four feet four inches in height, Amber is a bit shorter than the average thirteen year old, but she is proportionately small so it is more like she is shrunken down rather than being short. Due to her activity level, she is slightly on the thin side but it's not to the point of being unhealthy. Her hair is pretty long, going down to her bottom, is thick, and holds a slight wave to it naturally. She usually wears it loose but will sometimes pull it back into a ponytail. On occasion she will pester someone to blow-dry it straight for her but that isn't too often. Her eyes are slightly large and the hazel of her eyes medium to somewhat light, her skin is light and lips naturally tinged pink.

Amber likes to wear jeans the most on her lower half, but sometimes she will wear dresses or skirts. She doesn't like wearing shorts though as she's convinced that they'll always give her a wedgie. Due to her love of bunnies, she'll often try to pick out shirts that either have a bunny on them, or are designed to have bunny ears on them if they're a hoodie style. One of her favorite colours is pink, so that's something she often can be seen wearing as well. After her ability came around, Amber has gotten to liking to wear shoes that are easily gotten out of in case she wants to do a bit of wall climbing or something.

Personality: Hyper is one word for her. And a pretty good one at that. She almost seems like she's full of limitless energy up until she burns it out and just kind of goes to sleeping it off. Kind of like a wind up toy or something in that way. Not that she lets herself burn out too early on in the day, seeing how she thinks she's a little too old to be taking naps. It is that, the excuse of needing sugar for her power, and the fact that she's a candy addict, that she is always found with a fannypack or backpack full of candy for her to snack on whenever she thinks about it.

It's pretty hard to get Amber upset. At least, get her upset for real. She'll fake it and make a big deal out of things sometimes but her grin will usually give it away when she does and she will usually end up admitting that she wasn't really mad. She's pretty easily entertained, but then again that might be because she can make a game out of almost anything and her imagination allows her to be able to use even the simplest things such as rubber bands and broken pencil led as characters in whatever story she's made up for the time. Unfortunately though, a lot of this imagining and playing happens to go on when she should be paying attention to other things. Like class, for example.

Amber isn't in a hurry to grow up. In fact, she's pretty happy that she doesn't seem to be growing up as quickly as some other girls her age as she wants to stay a kid for a while longer. If she could make one wish and have it come true, it would be to stay a child forever. And due to this, Peter Pan is one of her favorite movies. Seriously, she's pretty much watched it to death. Another thing she loves is bunnies. Stick rabbit ears on something and she will adore it.

She is a bit of a clinger. If she finds someone that she likes, she will try to be around them whenever she can until she finds someone she likes more. Also, for her, the way she shows how much someone means to her is by her beginning to try to be like them in some way or another.

Warning, she has learned how to perfect the big cute eyes thing and will use it as her secret weapon when everything else has failed in getting her something. Though some may have an immunity to it, it has been successful enough to her for her to hot have given up on it.

Your Vices

Likes: BUNNIES! Peter Pan movie. Candy. Sugar. Soda. Gum. Icecream. Pretty much anything sweet. The colours pink and white, though she likes pink more.
Dislikes: Spicy foods, people who yell when they're angry, chicken fat, naps, the drain in the bath tub when it makes noises.
Strengths: She's really good at braiding and can even do a four way braid rather than the usual kind, she's decently agile, she's pretty good at drawing.
Weaknesses: Sitting still is a big problem for her, so is paying attention for too extended of amount of time.
Fears: The bathtub drain when it makes noises, thunder even if lightning doesn't scare her as much, sometimes a fear of something being under the bed or in a partially open closet. Clowns, though she's more likely to kick them than run away.
Secret: She found out about the visits from Santa not being real when she was seven and caught her mother stuffing a sock, but keeps playing along as she doesn't want to miss out on the presents. She thinks it's creepy when posters or dolls are looking at her while she's sleeping or getting changed so she will try to cover their eyes when she does.

History

A couple of years after Jerry Jacobs moved to Alaska, he came across a sweet and perky waitress by the name of Amy Miles. At first, her looks and personality had been the cause of him visiting that particular restaurant more often than he had planned to, but after two years, they began talking during her breaks and even going out on the occasional date when he came to shore. Even if there were long times in between meetings, their relationship plodded along.

Amy was oblivious of the fact of Jerry being married up until she told him that she was pregnant. Then, when there came comments about that making two, and the actual confession of being married a hard swung frying pan and a concussion was introduced into Jerry's life. Though being married was a deal breaker for their relationship, Amy was pro life so she didn't terminate the pregnancy. Instead, she was going to keep the baby, and have a clean conscience by having Jerry come clean to his wife as well as introducing her to the woman.

There was an initial shock from Elise Jacobs when she found out about her husband having an affair and of course anger. But, ultimately, she resigned to the fact that she couldn't completely blame him for having sought out someone else. Anyways, the guilt of leaving her son behind and moving to Alaska had made her want to hang on to what she had left rather than losing Jerry as well. This spilled over to Amy and the soon to be born Amber.

And seven months down the line, Amber began her life.

Amber was born a couple of months premature and at first had to be kept in the incubator due to issues in the systems that hadn't had the chance of developing properly. She weighed almost four pounds even, and was a bit lethargic in her first months of life but made up for it with the hyperactivity she had from her first year on. amber was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of six, her mother having thought she was just a spunky little kid up until it started to seem to be a little more than that when compared to the other children. Even with the diagnosis though, Amy didn't want her child to be over-medicated so Amber was never given any of the drugs for her disability. Just natural remedies such as grape seed extract and gingko to help calm hyperactivity and raise concentration. While some people didn't seem to notice much of a difference, it was enough for Amy.

There came a situation though that Amy couldn't find a natural remedy for. At twelve and a half, Amber suddenly started having strong bouts of fatigue, became extremely hungry, and started having blurry vision. But finding out that those were symptoms of Hypoglycemia wasn't what couldn't be treated with herbal remedies, it was what the Hypoflycemia had actually come from. Amber's body had actually been changing in preparation for her meta ability and it fully came in once Amber started on her sugar kick again. She was a kid being a kid, and having already loved sneaking candies when she got the chance to, she did so while using her condition as an excuse. And several jolly ranchers, kit kats, and pixie stix later, she was doing her usual scampering around when she suddenly found things sticking to her.

At first, her mother had thought that she had just gotten into something, but after several more times of the girl having things stuck to her, she started to realise something was up. By this point in time, Amy and Elise had become friends, so she spoke to Elise about how her daughter might have been a little different at which point Amy learned that Jerry's son was a metahuman... and her daughter almost definitely was as well. This was when Amy learned more about Corbin than she had before. During the conversation, another call came in and she answered it to find that it was a representative from Hammel Institute by the name of Midori Hawkins. It became more than apparent that Amber would be ending up one of its residents.

Worried about her daughter feeling scared and alone so far away from her and so far away from home, Amy spoke to Amber while they were getting her set up for the trip to Vermont. She told her about Corbin and told her to seek him out if anything happened seeing how he was family. The girl took in the information but just in case she would forget, her mother also put a note in one of her bags for her to remember by. Amy had gotten Corbin's contact information and address from Jerry and Elise while discussing with them her concerns about Amber being all alone in Vermont. Having been under the impression that one or both of Corbin's parents would speak to him to give him a heads up, she never thought to contact him herself due to the potential awkwardness of his father's former mistress calling him up out of the blue after having kept his half sister a secret for over a decade.

Amber adjusted a little better than one might expect a child to when arriving to a new state and to a place full of strangers. In fact, she did more than adjust thanks to her positive attitude and almost happy go lucky manner. Of course her ability was tried and tested as well as the drawbacks of them being monitored, so she was able to learn about them as they were being discovered and she was so busy with playing around with what she could do, school, and what buddies she did make, that she had forgotten about her go-to relative until almost half a year later. As in, until just recently....
