Jinahi left. Gavin Right.The Basics
Name: جناحي (Jinahi), Gavin, Fletcher
Nicknames: Jim or Gavin
Age: 19
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Aquakinesis / Cryokinesis:
Jinahi has the ability to suspend small amounts of water (less than 2 gallons) in the air and control its shape, speed, and compactness. After Jinahi channels his ability, he is left fatigued and dehydrated because his ability consumes the water in his system. For this reason Jinahi consumes twice the amount of water as a normal person on a daily basis, and is extremely weak in dry arid climates. Jinahi also finds himself constantly soaked in hot weather. The sun seems to evaporate the water straight out of his body and it catches on his clothes.
Gavin is more synced with the power limit of his meta ability, however he is a fragment of Jim’s psyche and so is limited to controlling water in its solid form—ice. He can freeze the natural condensation in the air and control its shape.
As a natural side effect of Gavin being the active personality, Jinahi’s body decreases in temperature. He his slower and less limber in this state and has decreased physical reaction times. Gavin becomes fatigued from the use of his powers but doesn’t suffer from dehydration. In this state he is extremely sensitive to heat, and he suffers from intense pain if his body increases in temperature.

The Details
Hair Color: black
Eye Color: Jinahi’s eyes are a glacier blue.
Any Piercings?None
Any Tattoos? When he was 17, Jinahi learned that his middle name meant hawk in Celtic and so had hawk wings tattooed across his shoulder blades in black ink. He did this as an act of rebellion against his father’s controlling yet detached nature.
Any Scars? There is a circular burn scar on the inner side of his left forearm from a dare during middle school.
General Appearance: Jinahi is a fluid individual. Everything about him flows—from his sauntering gait to his changes in facial expression. There is rarely anything about his life that is structured or confined. He’s an average height and physique for an adolescent male awaiting his twenty-something growth spurt: obviously narrow shoulders, small feet, and as some boarding school kids teased, chicken arms. He’s 5’ 10” and weighs roughly 145 pounds, but most of that is lean dancer muscle from 12 years of ballet. He typically dresses in long-sleeved v-neck shirts with the cuffs collected just below his elbows and styled blue jeans. Jinahi exudes a natural scent like an ocean breeze when he walks by and he tends to wear his hair in a gelled messy style with and his facial hair is a neatly trimmed beard and soul patch.
The girls in his ballet class considered him to be a derpy metrosexual. His slight frame, low muscle mass, sense of fashion, and delicate Arabian facial structure all screamed, “GAY,” to people during their first impression. Jinahi does nothing to dissuade people of this, letting them see him how they wish, but those who stick around long enough learn that he is definitely attracted to women. The derpyness comes in from his adoration of his large black coke bottle prescription glasses.
When Gavin is the dominant personality he dresses in extreme monotones— tailored white slacks and shirts or black running pants and black cotton tank tops. He favors very sophisticated collared shirts and blazers that reflect his wealthy background. His movements are rigid compared to Jinahi’s natural fluid grace and his facial expressions of delight or bemusement are rare and more static. Gavin likes his hair to be down and presentable- combed but not parted. He despises Jiinahi’s beard and will shave it off if he has the opportunity and time. He is strangely attached to the soul patch though.
Personality: Jinahi is a kind-hearted individual who is socially conscientious rather than self-aware. He innately conforms to others people’s attitudes and diction in social situations rather than definitively establishing his own. This generally places him in the roll of the follower in groups: quick to agree with the majority to feel accepted and avoid confrontation. Jinahi is extroverted and never afraid to talk or offer his opinion, once he’s sure someone else has established theirs.
Friends from his original meta institute, The Kocher High School for the Gifted, often described him as flighty and unstable because of the whimsical way that he picks up and drops interests and friends. Jinahi despises the nickname Jim, that his father gave him in an attempt to erase his mother’s cultural influence on his life. He will give it out to teachers or acquaintances who have trouble pronouncing his first name, though it makes him cringe inwardly. In rebellion to this, Jinahi viciously clung to the Arabic idioms that he could remember from his early childhood and has integrated them into his daily life.
Gavin is a solitary individual. This is partially due to his icy and reserved nature as much as his outward physicality. He is innately selfish and embodies Jinahi’s ruthless and apathetic tendencies to ignore the people he hurts in pursuit of his own pleasure and desires. He takes sadistic pleasure in creating awkward social situations for others and making them question their own morals and convictions. Where Jinahi is hesitant and logical, Gavin is driven by impulse and irrationality. He enjoys practical jokes, but often crosses the line between playful fun and malice. Gavin doesn’t see his actions as evil and amoral, but rather adheres to his own code of self-preservation and self-gratification. He is willing to help others, but only after he identifies an equal or greater benefit to himself.
Gavin also despises humans, largely due to Jinahi’s father and his cookie-cut wonder-bread family in Manhattan. He’s not explicitly vocal about his distaste for these “fragile flowers” that wilt under the first frost, but the few humans who have met him would all agree that he has a certain way of, “Talking down to you.”

History
Jinahi is the product of the tragic relationship of his mother and father. James Fletcher, his father, was an executive for Mercedes Benz looking into a dealership opening in Cairo. While there, he met and fell madly in love with a native girl, Amira Hadjer. He wound up convincing her to elope with him after a year of romance, and she became pregnant. Amira’s family discovered the scandal of their youngest child marrying a non-Muslim and forced her to leave the marriage. James tried to reason with the family, but to no avail, and was eventually reassigned by Mercedes to work in Manhattan, his native city. When Jinahi was five, Amira died from an inexplicable illness. Her brother, Muhajder, flew with Jinahi to the states and deposited the young child on James’ doorstep in Manhattan.
The sudden change in culture, abandonment by his Egyptian family, and loss of his mother adversely affected Jinahi’s developing psyche. It fragmented into two separate personalities—Jinahi, the curious, flamboyant, and mature personality; and Gaving, the impulsive, reckless, sadistic, yet withdrawn and reserved personality.
Gavin First manifested as the metaphorical devil on Jinahi’s shoulder—urging him to reckless behaviors and to break things, “Just to see how they worked.” Jinahi first tried to ignore and suppress this voice, which worked for a time; but the more he suppressed Gavin, the stronger Gavin became. He would cause Jinahi to punch other kids in boarding school unless Jinahi listened to him and let control of the body sometimes when nobody would notice.
He was expelled from 4 different American boarding schools by the time he was twelve because of all the fights and reckless behavior. By this time, his father had remarried and wanted nothing to do with the child that reminded him of his broken heart. James had a new family now, a daughter, Felicity, who was 7, and a new son, Jackson, who was in his terrible two’s. James sent Jinahi off to a boarding school in Italy, in hopes of culturing his son, and to distance the problem-child from the new family he’d started. While James never had an active, caring role in Jinahi’s life, he still tried to control it and make him play sports such as rugby. Jinahi took his first sweet bite of rebellion by signing up for ballet instead.
Puberty and the manifestation of his powers hit late for Jinahi. The first winter at the Italian boarding school, he hit his first major growth spurt. And even stranger still, something inexplicable happened while he was swimming with a group of friends just prior to his birthday in early February. As Jinahi climbed out of the pool to go back around to the high dive (prompted by Gavin of course), the water on his body defied gravity. It remained attached to his skin. He tried to slick it off with his hands, but it coagulated onto his palms instead. Freaked out, he ran to his towel to try and wipe it off, but the towel refused to absorb the water. Sensing Jinahi’s inattention, Gavin attempted to take control of the body. But due to Jinahi’s hysterical state, he only succeeded in sending the body into shock so that Jinahi was rushed to the hospital.
A recruiter from the Koche Institute heard of the event and came to investigate. Jinahi was almost extradited back to the U.S. to attend Hammel, but his father used his influence and money to ensure that his mutant son would remain in Switzerland, safely away from his precious family.
As Jinahi learned to control his powers, he also learned to cooperate with, and control Gavin. He could willingly talk to Gavin and slowly learned to release control of segments of his body so that Gavin could manifest in minute ways instead of explosively. Neither of them wanted to be sent to a mental institution. Gavin is almost always present in Jinahi’s consciousness, often making snide commentary or prompting him to make certain actions. Certain situations still cause Jinahi’s personality to become comatose and blackout while Gavin is completely present. Situations involving violence, extreme emotional distress, or if he is forced to remember his childhood in Egypt almost always result in a blackout and Gavin gaining complete control of the body.
Jinahi is in his senior year, and wants to transfer back to the U.S. to study at Hammel, partially at the urging of Gavin. To date, he has done decently well in his scholastic studies, averaging a 3.0 or B equivalency in his academic studies and gaining astute control of his aquakinesis. Gavin has managed to keep the cryokinesis a secret from Jinahi because he only is able to control it when Jinahi blacks out. Jinahi wants to graduate from Hammel and then become a professional ballet dancer. Gavin, on the other hand, has much more sinister plans for their future.
Roleplay Example
/I don’t like him!/ Gavin said in Jinahi’s mind, regarding the recruiter sitting across from him sipping from a cup of something obviously not water.
\I don’t know what you’re complaining about. This whole Hammel business was all your spur of the moment idea.\ Jinahi retorted to Gavin’s sudden alarm. \Now shut up and let me try to pretend I’m sane—I’d rather not have another trip to the psych ward courtesy of you…It was hard enough to convince them I was perfectly normal the first time.\
“Asalaamaliekum Mr. ahhh… Cage, correct?” He said hesitantly breaking the silence thick enough to walk on. He continued, “I hope your plane ride here was pleasant sir.”
“Ah I see.” Well as we’ve discussed through email over the past several weeks, I’d like to finish my High School equivalency at Hammel,” he stated. Jinahi hoped he sounded confident and polite, but not too presumptuous. He leaned forward in the push chair and pulled a blue Nalgene bottle filled with water from a side pocket. Swallowing almost a quarter of the bottle in one gulp, he attentively listened to Mr. Cage. After the recruiter paused, indicating he wanted Jinahi to speak, the young man sat back up straight and crossed his right heel over his left knee.
“My reasons for attending Hammel this late in my education? I’d like to connect with my hieritage and experience life as an American high school student while I still can. Also the performing arts college I wish to attend for ballet is close by,” he paused for a second and then hesitantly added, “ plusss…I’m sure you’re already aware, but my father lives in Manhattan, and I’d like to get to at least get to know the person who sired me as a man, since I never knew him has a father.” He inwardly winced at how hallow the lie sounded to his own ears. He looked across the space separating him and Mr. Cage and wondered if he shouldn’t have added that last embellishment. Jinahi reached to the table at his side for another giant gulp of the soothing luke-warm liquid while he awaited Mr. Cage’s reply. He was so caught up in his thoughts about Hammel and wondering if Mr. Cage would refer him for transfer that Jinahi didn’t even notice Gavin had gone silent for once.
