Thread Roulette: Ivan, Lala, and Reese

It had been Eva's idea to send his weaponry to the M.S.A.D. headquarters. Though he knew the people there, and understood and liked their cause, his militant training always seemed to stop him from "liking" them. His distrust and antisocial qualities made him irritable around the dogs and the people who seemed a little immature for the cause they were trying to achieve. Then again, he hadn't really tried to get to know any of them. He didn't really see the point. The group was unorganized and none of them had solid plans or actions they were trying to get to, so the knowing of the group's members wasn't necessary to be part of them.

It wasn't like knowing a part your crew in a group of real soldiers. It wasn't like that because in a team, you had to know your fellow officers inside and out, in case you were separated or problems arose. You knew how to act so actions wouldn't conflict and how to make it better for everyone.

M.S.A.D. wasn't like that, as far as Ivan had seen. It was more of a support group, and the metas would act on their own, having a place to run back to, a group to slap them on the back and tell them how good they had been. It was interesting to be around, but honestly, It drove Ivan slightly mad with the potential the entire group had, and how little they used it to their advantage.

He often thought that guerrilla attacking would be best, and they could probably use younger kids for a lot of ambushing and sabotage. Sure, it seemed simple in his mind, but he had to keep in mind that his training made things easy, but most of the people in the group had little to know basic training.

Anyway, Ivan was on his own when going to pick up his weaponry. Right now, he only had a sword and a butterfly knife and pair of handguns, and he was going to pick up his more special weapons. Which included, but was definitely not limited to, his boots with spring-loaded blades, the concealed blade that could be belted to his arm and came out quickly and retracted just as fast. It excited him to get his things back.

With hesitation, Ivan entered the compound, his face unreadable and his teeth set. The dogs barked, and Ivan did his best not to kick some out of his way as he stepped over them. He looked around, not seeing the package that was said to have arrived that day. This made the Russian a little testy, and he ground his teeth together more as the dogs continued to yap at his legs. No one seemed to be coming, either, which wasn't helping his patience.

"Hello? Is anyone here?" he called roughly into the house.

The compound had been in an interesting state for the past few days. The twins along with one or two other operatives were the only ones who had been around long enough to remember when Anastasia and Ivan had left, let alone survived long enough to see their return. The air had been simultaneously one of quiet welcome and subtle intensity. The Russian pair were people of substance, grit, and stoic nature. The more experienced members of SMAD knew their return signaled the end of a very important missions abroad, and perhaps the advancement of their plan to remove Hammel from existence.

These were the twins’ thoughts as they baked…well…Lala baked. Reese sat nearby resting, staring blankly at Mirage and Tango, the only dogs who really seemed to like her. As Lala rhythmically stirred the contents of the bowl in her hands, Reese shook her head. Something else had gone on since the Russians’ return to the compound. An unplanned attack on a bystander perpetuated by the twins. They couldn’t help it. He deserved it. Their only regret was that Sean Neville was his rescuer. Though they did not find their minds invaded, there was a high chance he could deduce their connection to Gabe. They’d made trouble for Gabe.

After a long, self-imposed guilt trip and a half-assed berating from Gabriel, the girls had managed to make themselves scarce around the compound. Yet no surface went uncleaned, and no meal went unprepared, even the one’s the twins weren’t attending. Being “ground” for lack of a better word didn’t mean they could neglect their duties. Reese twitched to life and scratched Tango behind the ears, stroking Mirage’s back as bogs dogs stood up wearily. Both stoic dogs stalked away as the rest came barreling towards the door.

Though the twins were sincerely hoping no one would interrupt their candy-making, the dogs were clearly announcing otherwise. Reese slowly rose from the table, trying to discern the identity of the intruder by his or her footsteps…they were difficult to recognize, but heavy and purposeful.

The twins blinked. “Ivan/Ivan” they called in eerie tandem, beckoning him into the kitchen were they could discuss the arrival of his weapons. All of which had been examined and were residing where no one else could get hold of them…

But he didn’t need to know that quite yet.
