Does this mean I'm in Trouble?(closed)

So Lani had come to a decision that the wall across from the courtyard was the easiest way out. There was a tree right by the wall that he could easily jump from to the wall and then over on the other side. Challenge: getting to the tree without being spotted. This area at night was well lit but did hold a lot of shadows that he could bleed into and be unseen. He glanced around from his current position hidden behind a shrub in the shadows. He slipped from one to another taking things slowly and ready to make a break for it if he really needed to. It was Friday, unlike the last time he had gone out through the auditorium. He had left for one full day on Wednesday night, Thursday he missed his classes but it wasn't rare for him to skip either. The teachers knew nothing and no one ever said anything or even hinted that they knew. He was on the same quest as last time to give his employer something that will give Lani big bucks. Once he had explained his predicament of being sent to military school (which the man had bought thank goodness) his employer had given him a give me what you can whenever you can directions.

Lani was sure he was concealed from head to toe in a mixture of black and dark gray making him blend in superbly with the darkness complete with a hat that went over his face leaving slits for the eyes. It was after one and hopefully like every other night the guards would not be paying much attention to jumping shadows if they saw anything at all. He still had the open field area before the after the courtyard to get across in order to make it to the tree. one might think that was too much work and why didn't he go out the same way. Number one was the auditorium proved to be much harder than it seemed. Not only had he run into a fellow student who very easily could have done him in but the auditorium turned out to be very high and he nearly had to scale the wall twenty feet before he could finally get over to the fence and get himself over it. It had been more of a hassle than it was worth. Secondly, if one went the same way all the time someone would catch on so he had to switch it up to avoid guards expecting and cornering him. He wasn't sure if Hammel knew about his last 'escape' but he certainly wasn't about to risk it.

Lani basically ran though escape 101 in his head as he rolled silently to the next bush behind a guard. He glanced through the branches. Not even a glance backward. He needed to be careful and go at random intervals so they couldn't expect him at any specific time. Already this was more than a week from the last time he had 'gone out'. Irregular intervals were key in something like this. Lani watched the guards make their rounds. He had studied this nearly every night. He had studied their patterns and memorized their actions. Right now a woman passed him, he wasn't sure what her power was but she always stopped to check her watch when she was out of sigh of the others. He had to move when she did because already he knew she didn't take much heed if there was a rustle in the bushes. He moved as far as he could until all that was left was the field.

Lani got to his stomach and pressed himself as close as he could to the earth. Glancing over his shoulder at her receding back he knew he only had a matter of time before the next guard rounded the corner. He lifted himself into a crouch and slipped along the wall with the speed and sound of a cat. He was in the open now, shadows betrayed themselves in the open. The light didn't reach quite this far but he was sure someone would be able to see him across this field but the tree was so close...

Vincent was pulling third shift duty tonight and tomorrow night, a duty he didn't have to pull if he didn't want to, but one he didn't mind none the less. There had been multiple reports of students breaking curfew and sneaking off into town lately and seeing how his role was head of security, this problem fell neatly into his lap. Claude had many problems to deal with and while this problem had crossed his desk, Vincent had stepped in and reassured the boss things would be taken care of and that he had no need to worry about the curfew breaking. Claude usually gave Vincent a wide berth to perform the duties he was hired to perform and recognizing the respect given to him by the old man, Vincent did his best not to fail Claude or the school. He now stood in the school's audio/visual surveillance room, dressed a bit more casual tonight. Third shift was a tad more relaxed than first or second as not many visitors were seen during this time. Vincent wore a pair or relaxed and worn blue jeans, a gray tee shirt and black work boots. He sipped on his bottled water, his eyes watching the various television screens of the surveillance room. A short portly young man sat at the control panel, looking rather nervous at Vincent's presence. "Relax Chance and just do what we hired you to do," he said with a casual tone, his eyes not leaving the monitors. The young man nodded and swallowed hard and went back to running the monitors.

The ear piece in Vincent's ear kept him informed of the check-ins and chatter of the guards on patrol. Nothing out the ordinary seemed to be going on, but ordinary sort of took on a new meaning in a school full of meta-humans. "Bring up the south gate and the west gate for me Chance," Vincent said, nodding at the left hand side of the monitor wall. The screens flashed and brought up the areas Vincent wanted. These two areas would have been the weakest in the line and Vincent knew the resourcefulness of kids. None of them were stupid enough to tackle the front or back gate and so that left the wall. The gym would be the best place to stage an escape and that was where Vincent concentrated his interest. "There," he said quickly, stepping forward and pointing at one of the screens. "Small quick shadows," he said, sure of what he saw, but from Chance's skeptical look, perhaps it was just paranoia. Pressing the ear piece in his ear with his finger, Vincent barked out an order, "This is Romanov. Outside the wall near the auditorium. Be ready on my mark to move," he said, setting his water bottle down and taking off out the door.

Using the stored kinetic energy he had built up earlier in the shift, Vincent moved as quickly as he could through the hallways and toward the area he suspected the would be escape artist was heading. He sprinted with the speed of an Olympic athlete, hoping he was quick enough. Then, finally, Vincent reached a corner which would lead into a large opening, a field. He stopped, breathing hard but still refreshed none the less. He hadn't used all the stored up kinetic energy but too much of it for his liking. It didn't matter because he doubted he would need any. This would go down quick and easy and the student would be escorted back to the dorms....That is if they were the obeying sort. Slowly, Vincent stepped out into the dim light and scanned the field before him, desperately looking for any sort of movement or flash of light to give away his prey's position. Pressing the ear piece with is finger once again, Vincent spoke quickly, "Hit the floodlights." Within a second, light flooded the field and left Lani no place to hide. Vincent stepped out into the open light now, spying Lani clearly. With a loud whistle he tried to get Lani's attention, "You can try it son, but I promise you want get far," he yelled loudly, crossing his arms, ready at the first flinch from Lani to give the word to bring in the security team.

Lani scanned the ground as he rushed long it his feet flying sure and quick over the soft grass. Not only did the grass muffle his feet but years of practice had made him silent. Now he almost couldn't make noise when he moved. Sure when he was relaxed things happened but after a firm talk from his father who he had scared too many times just by not being there then suddenly appearing he learned how to make noise on his own again. He felt with his mind for anything lose in the tree that could give him away. There was none and lucky thing because of course his power decided to be a nuisance and pull at the branches. He reigned it in carefully the way he had taught himself to do, make it semi-dormant. It was always there moving bit it had a less tendency to act without him willing it to. He loved being focused completely like this, it was when his mind wandered that his power started just doing what his mind was thinking.

Lani tripped and rolled back to his feet successfully coming to a stop as the sun flooded the area. His mind shuffled through its confusion and came to the slow conclusion that it wasn't the sun but floodlights. He blinked several times blinded by the sudden light. Floodlights? Seriously this place had floodlights? It really was a prison. Panic laced through his veins filling them with Lani's favorite drug: adrenaline. Lani had never been caught in his entire career, which was a long one. He was good, even some rivals had to admit but he had never been caught and consequently he had never practiced getting out of being caught. He looked about his eyes watering at the sudden light. He tried to block it with his arm but it was bright everywhere! There was a sharp whistle and Lani froze with terror. He squinted in the direction of the person who had called his attention. He gritted his teeth and tried to see and focus. It took several seconds of blinking for him to get him focus back and his eyes to adjust. His mind wasn't working. He was completely stunned at this turn in events. He wasn't sure how to feel but his nerves were vibrating.

He shifted all of his weight onto his back leg bracing it to fling him forward if need be. He bared his teeth at the challenge, knowing full well he couldn't see him very clearly. He was still identity-less now just a shadow in a white world. Lani wasn't sure how his depth perception was but he calculated his distance to the tree from this point and the person's distance to him. He smiled beneath the cloth. The distance between himself and the tree at this point was much smaller than the distance between himself and this mysterious person. Apparently he had underestimated the security here. Wouldn't make that mistake twice. His eyes flashed in the light and he reached out with his power in every direction searching for one thing. Distraction. He focused all of his power on one tree and hauled at it. It was heavy and his power was draining but the adrenaline was filling him with enough power to fuel it. He had no idea he would have been able to do something like this but it was killing his energy. He heard roots snap and hopping the person would turn if even for a spit second. He released the tree with a harsh backlash and sprang toward the tree. He sprang toward it his hands catching the first branches. He started to pull himself up and his feet kicked at the trunk.
