General Appearance: When one thinks of Annie, cupcakes are generally the first thing that come to mind. Barring that she's a petite redhead with a little extra weight and a closet full of colors. Her wide, hazel eyes are framed by wispy bangs and dotted beneath by freckles. Her fair skin does not take well to sun without a layer of sunscreen or the parasol she can often be seen with. Though the latter is more for aesthetic effect than any real purpose.
Her height is supplemented by heels that, on average, add three or four inches. Though the shoes are high, they rarely actually match what she's wearing. One might consider Annie colorblind or perhaps think that she has Aspergers simply by the choices she makes in her wardrobe. Colors. Bright colors, rich colors, and a great deal of red combined in wild and not always understandable ways.
The truth of the matter regarding her wardrobe is simply that Annie likes color and standing out. The odd combinations don't always work, but the point is that she tried something new.
Personality: Annie is a little ray of sunshine. Hearing disorder aside she's rarely seen without a smile on her face or some wild style or color of clothing to draw the eye. Even though she's bold with her appearance, Annie's shy around new people until she knows if they'll understand that no matter how loudly they talk or wildly they gesture she won't be able to hear them. If they know sign language, then she's all smiles and quite talkative.
A very active person, no matter what she's wearing, if there's a ball to kick around, Annie's right there kicking it (yes, even in heels.) There's an artistic flare to Annie as well, her room changes layouts nearly every month (though the raspberry walls are a constant). She paints from time to time, though nothing she, or anyone else, would qualify as museum quality. Just Paint splattered on a canvas with a few brush strokes. Mostly they're given as gifts, but she loves to experiment with mediums.
That being said, her heart isn’t in painted art the same way it’s in her baking. When she first discovered the art of cupcakes there was no turning back. It became a sort of refuge when needed and a way to meet people without them feeling instantly weird that she cannot hear them nor speak herself. Though she was not born mute, she never bothered with learning how to speak and her laugh is an odd sound.

History
No one would have dared call the Holmes household a "Stepford" home. With two father's who'd been partners for the better part of 20 years, Annie grew up knowing that love knows absolutely no bounds. Her biological mother (more a friend of the family than anything else really) stepped into the picture to play surrogate when Frederick and James wanted to have children. She bore them three beautiful daughters. The first two were twins, Amber and Aisling, and then two years later Annie.
While Annie's fine with her father's she watched with some interest the way her sisters chose to behave. On the one hand there was Amber, who was perfectly okay with everything and didn't really seem to have a care in the world. Let people look. Maybe they'd actually see a happy family? Then on the other there was Aisling. She didn't seem to want anyone to look at her at all. It was quite odd, but Annie watched, and learned.
When she was still very young it became obvious that Annie was deaf. She didn't scream or cry as a baby when loud noises would have startled anyone else, and it was impossible to get her attention unless it was through direct contact, direct sight, or a vibration. Frederick and James were, while not frantic, concerned for their youngest. They didn't want her life to be any more difficult than it already would be with two fathers.
Doctors and specialists were all very helpful and encouraging with facts, news, and pamphlets on different schools and books that would be useful. Sign language was a must, but Annie would also learn to read lips as a matter of survival. Everyone in the household learned ASL (American Sign Language) and the two fathers held their breath and their hopes that Annie would find a way around the disability.
As she grew, Annie did learn. And she did bloom. Her shelves were filled with books, her family were her playmates. The fear of her deafness causing her distress seemed to be averted. In school she was placed at the front of the classroom with an interpreter, at first, but later without. Annie wasn't missing out on a thing. While there were those kids who would try to make her life miserable by teasing or poking fun, Annie seemed to rise above it. Only once did she ever get into a physical altercation... and it wasn't over herself.
Ilia eventually married and had another child, Julie, whom it was later discovered had the meta gene. While Ilia and the Holmes men were close friends, the birth of Julie changed some things. Ilia had her own daughter to care for, but the four girls often got together and played unil the twins went off on their separate journeys, Annie went off to college, and Julie was recruited for Hammel.
As a freshman in college, Annie has made new friends, and constantly has a dorm full of cupcakes. One friend in particular, she was delighted to discover, also had family at Hammel so that the two of them could make weekend trips. It wasn’t that she minded going alone, but travel was always more fun with others around; and having grown up in a family atmosphere being alone was never high on Annie’s agenda.
