"I'm older than my brother, yeah. And there's just the two of us, and I'm only a few years older than him. I haven't ever met anyone who has it different, really. It's always just kind of a mom and dad, or maybe divorced parents or something. Was it weird being taken care of by your nanny or whatever?"
He stopped himself from asking all about the immune system failure, since he had been repeatedly told by his parents that it wasn't polite to pry. Still, he was curious, and he debated for a moment looking into the situation on his own before realizing that that would be even more rude. He'd just wait, and it'd probably come up again sometime.
"My parents are pretty good about that, I think. They know that not everyone speaks English, and they even made me and Joshua learn a few important phrases. I could say 'Please,' 'Thank you,' and 'Where's the bathroom" everywhere I went, even though I forgot it all now." He tried for a moment to remember where all he had been to. "We took a summer trip to Europe one year, when Dad had some spare money and took time off from his job. He's a dentist, so it was hard for him to get off because summer is when a lot of kids go in to get checked, but he did for one year. And we went to England, Paris, Germany, and just a little in northern Italy and Rome. There were some other places too, but I forget those. I just remember the big places." Namely the ones where there were pictures. "My family travelled a lot, when we could. I've been to the Grand Canyon twice, since the first time I didn't really get to see it."
