The Basics
Name: Emma Anthea Cousins
Nicknames: Em, Emsie, EmCee, Crazy Bitch
Age: 18
Orientation: Bisexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Teleportation – Emma has two different types of teleportation skill. The first is a simple disappear from one place and reappear in another, though, she can only teleport into places she knows, or can see. If she tries to teleport somewhere completely new to her, she can often end up half stuck in a wall, or generally overshoot and end up somewhere nowhere near her target. This has only happened twice in her life – once when she was 13 and decided Hammel was boring and tried to teleport to Italy, ending up in Malaysia, and costing Hammel money to send her back to school, and once when she was 15, and tried to teleport into the staff lounge, and got stuck in the door.
The other teleportation skill she possesses is that of movement teleportation. This is when she runs, but teleports repeatedly, building up momentum and speed. This teleportation is much easier for her to accomplish, and creates a faint, dusty after-print of her body from where she moves. It also means she does very well in sprint races and the high jump, though most people would say she's cheating.
The negative side of her skill is her hunger – though she doesn't NEED to eat, she feels compulsed to, especially after using movement teleportation. She only supresses this with chain smoking, not a very healthy thing to do. The other side effects are migraines, again minimised with painkillers and cigarettes, and dizzy spells. Incidentally, Emma is very thin, which her father, and her trainer believe is to do with her power.

The Details
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue, quite misty looking, like a foggy sea.
Any Piercings? Tongue, ears – tragus, lobe, conch, industrial, nook and snug, all on alternate ears, she also has a naval piercing but only wears it on occasion
Any Tattoos? She has her sister's initials tattooed on her left wrist, and a celtic knot on her ankle.
Any Scars? A few – one from teleporting in front of a bus and getting dragged across the pavement for a few yards on her back, one around her wrist from playing nurse with a real knife as a child, a thin long one down her right middle finger involving a bicycle spoke slicing across the skin and a small, nearly unnoticeable one from a dare involving branding herself.
General Appearance: If you ever see a skinny girl sauntering past you with half the world's eyeliner around her eyes, the chances are, you've just seen Emma. A lot of people would describe her as “Pretty but...” I mean, there's no denying the long blonde hair, the smooth lines of her face, the shape of her eyes, they're all lovely to look at. But, and there's always a but, she's a little TOO thin. Skinny arms with hardly any meat on them, slender legs that could be mistaken for matchsticks from the wrong angle, not at the front of the queue for boobs... we could go on. It's because of this that I can assure you that Emma Cousins, while probably highly sought after by model companies, is not quite so high on the hot list of Hammel Institute.
Her skinny frame, teamed with a grungy dress sense, and a gravelly voice, give her a faint whiff of heroine chic, though the girl swears she'd never touch anything more hardcore than absinthe. In the summer, she tans pretty easily, though she protests the sun, preferring to keep her skin pale at all times. After all, how can she pull off the punky, grungy look with a bronzy tan like a valley girl? Not tall, and not smackingly short either, Emma probably stands around 5'8” on a good day, in the right shoes. Mostly legs and not much body, it's not surprising that the girl likes to show them off at every opportunity. Though, in all honesty, she's pretty comfortable with her body, despite not having Beyonce curves or a giant rack.
She certainly thinks she's seen a lot worse in her lifetime.
Personality: Emma Cousins isn't the girl your family would be overly happy with you hanging out with. It's not that she's rude, or beats up old ladies, it's more her lifestyle and attitude that would cause a mother to frown, or a father to shake his head. She believes in living life to it's absolute fullest, a mantra she picked up with the death of her mother when she was 11. From that day on, she'd decided that come hell or high water, she was going to have a good time every day of her life. And she has managed it. The girl is always walking around with a casual nonchalance, the kind that says “Yup, that's me, what you gonna do?” If she's not riding her motorbike at speed around narrow mountain roads, then she's likely to be out with her friends, or trying to learn to cook (a futile effort), or watching a movie.
Worse, the girl seems to encourage the same sort of behaviour in everyone around her. If someone's just sitting around, they'll get dragged off to have some fun. She can't stand seeing people just doing nothing, there's always got to be something to do, even if it's (*gag*) cleaning. When she isn't roaring her motorbike around, or bungee jumping naked off a bridge, or other miscellaneous stunts, Emma indulges her private love of quiet moments with a book and some good music. Despite being a bit of a wild child, the blonde girl actually enjoys studying some subjects, and is happy to just have a spare hour to herself. Not that she's particularly keen on any of her friends clocking onto this. She prefers her fun, but tough image. The way she sees it, if she's larger than life, then no one will ever give her trouble.
If you do provoke her into a fight, be prepared to get fought dirty with. Emma isn't afraid of using her powers to her advantage in a fight, and wont stop till she's certain that the antagonist is put back in his place. Few things do get her pissed enough to get in that mood, but add alcohol to the mix, and you're asking for a fire.

Strengths: Though Emma is a bit of a thrill seeker, and a rebel without a cause, she's actually quite a mellow person. It takes a lot to get her riled, and she does actually study. She's always been good at history, biology and Italian, and manages to do okay in her other subjects. Her power control is excellent, and she likes to show off about it. She's also pretty good at talking her way out of trouble and despite not being everyone's choice of babysitter (please read as BAD INFLUENCE), she's got a natural flair for getting through to disabled children.
Weaknesses: Doing nothing – Emma hates having to sit around all day doing nothing. Whether she's out riding her bike somewhere, or doing some crazy dare, she really can't spend any length of time lazing around. She also has no creative flair, and only has very few foods she can cook without turning them into vats of dangerous looking material. Oddly, she also has no patience for “ordinary” children, and tends to scare them on purpose. Because of her nonchalant, difficult to work up behaviour, it's also unusual for her to be highly motivated about anything. Those things she does get excited for are few and far between.
Fears: Losing her little sister and her dad. Being told she can't have her power any more. Coconut crabs.
Secret: Her sister is Autistic, and the light of her life. She's extremely protective of her.

History
“Your birthday is a very special day, Emma. It's the day you first saw the world. It's the only day like it in the whole year.”
Emma stood holding her mother's hand, and her little sister's, as they walked through the park. Emma didn't mind the fact that Louise rubbed her arm over and over as they walked, it became sore, sure, but at least she knew her sister was still there, and calm. As they headed to the top of the hill, Isabelle set down a picnic blanket and a hamper full of food, and the three of them settled down, smiling eagerly.
“Happy Birthday Emmiebear.” She said softly, pulling out a beautiful birthday cake. “Daddy'll be here as soon as work's over, okay?” Emma looked so happy, she crossed her legs and poured herself a glass of lemonade, then did the same for Louise. The three of them didn't care it was freezing cold.
This was one of the last memories Emma had of her mother.
Emma Anthea Cousins was born to a Dog Groomer and a Business Man, in the state of New Hampshire, USA. Their family lived in an old converted windmill, set outside Franklin. The family had a happy, normal life, with Antony insisting on creating inventions to make his family's life easier. When Louise came along only two years later than Emma, the whole family's life turned around.
Diagnosed with Autism aged only 3, it was clear that little Louise was going to have a harder life, and Isabelle devoted her spare time to helping her daughter develop as best as she could, ignoring the screaming and tantrums, and the confusion in her youngest daughter's eyes. Emma loved her mother and father. To see them struggle, even at the tender age of five, made her miserable. The young girl began to help her mum with Louise, and found that she could break through and understand her. The two sisters shared an understanding between themselves that set Isabelle at ease.
It was aged 11, shortly after her birthday, that Isabelle Cousins was killed. That night was snowy, and the two girls were watching the snowflakes hit the ground. The January snows excited both girls, and they were even happier to know that because of the weather, their father would spend the next week at home. Isabelle had realised the house was out of milk and bread, and had started up the car to head out to the local shop. Amidst warnings to be careful, she kissed her family goodbye, then drove off into the night.
As she crossed the road from the parking slot to the small shop, a Jeep, speeding on the icy road, knocked Isabelle Cousins down. She didn't get up again.
Stricken with grief, the family held themselves together only by their strength and need to be normal for Louise. Antony decided to work permanently from home, and Emma... Emma changed. Losing her mother seemed to make her take every day as it came. She began to do more every day, in case she, too, would be snatched away.
Emma took on the job her mother had worked so hard to do previously – try and help Louise live as close to a normal life as possible. While her father worked to keep the family in their home, and comfortable, she used her time to give Louise the love and support that was missing now Isabelle had gone. Of course, neither of them knew that life was going to take an interesting turn aged 13.
While Antony tinkered in the kitchen with a new invention of his, and with his eyes peering out the window to keep an eye on his beloved daughters, Emma and Louise played a game of frisbee. As Louise threw the frisbee, it sailed over Emma's head, and she frowned, looking as it sailed over into the neighbouring forest. Shaking her head softly, Emma had told her sister “I'll be right back, Lou.” then suddenly... she was. One minute she was walking towards the frisbee, the next she was holding it, and right back where she was standing. Louise was staring with wide eyed awe at her sister, and even Antony had dropped his screwdriver in the sink.
Teleportation, the recruiter had called it. And soon, despite Emma promising Louise she'd never leave, she had no choice. Her bags were packed, and Antony bid her daughter farewell, swearing he'd do his best to take care of Louise in Emma's place. Of course, it was then that Basket turned up. A therapy dog for Louise to play with and hold, someone who'd never judge her, or push her around. Antony knew Basket wouldn't be a replacement Emma, but together, the pair of them TRIED.
Much as, Emma, in this new institute, in neighbouring Vermont, tried her best too. At first, she was awkward about herself, about her powers, about being away from home. It was only upon meeting Vincent Verax, and finding a group of older friends, that she began to settle down. Despite her mantra about living each day fully, the girl worked hard in most classes, and passed the years by with only a few struggles. She always, always took her birthday off school, and would either return home, or spend the day with her friends, never forgetting what her mother had said that day when she was 11.
And now, in her last full year of Hammel, Emma is confident she'll pass, and even though she plans on pulling some stunts before she leaves, she's more than a little excited to finally have the freedom to do as she likes, when she likes. That, and she'll be able to go home to her beloved little sister Louise and her wonderful father once more.
