Doing His Job - Sett tags Kateri

“You keep that up and I’m going to get a swelled head,” she chided, but she might have been blushing, just a little. She wouldn’t have considered herself vain, but she was very fond of her hair, which was good, because it was a massive pain to keep up. “And I already have one, so you’d really just be causing more trouble.”

She rolled her eyes when he said that, although it was clear she was at least a little flattered. C’mon, what woman wouldn’t be? But the fact was that she hadn’t been carded in years. “You’re definitely smooth, my good bartender. Know how to flatter a girl. I’d bet you get a lot of tips. But moving onto more serious topics.” She finished off her drink, just because, then smiled at him. “How do you like Pilot Ridge? And why’d you pick to work here?”

"Oh no, then your hair would look weird." Sett chuckled. "Alright, alright. I'll stop my charms." He said in a mock exasperated tone of voice. "Look at that, just a first meeting and you're already asking so much of me. Next thing I know you're gonna ask me to stop breathing." He proclaimed dramatically. The effect died when Sett was called away again.

"Don't go anywhere, now." Sett made cheesy finger guns and served the other customers and came back to her, grinning at what she said. He shrugged nonchalantly. "Maybe. Not too much I mean...who likes to part ways with their money?" He replied, playing the "I'm so humble" card when in fact he had no humble bone in his body, the lech.

Oh no, serious topics? With Sett? Oh Kateri, you have so much to learn. "It's all right. It's no Somerset but at least I can still zipline down to the pool from my bedroom." He refilled Kateri's glass once more and tilted his head at the next question. It was a heavy loaded question which Sett was not willing to divulge just yet. They had just met, it would be so unnecessary to talk about anything that serious. So he said no more than was necessary.

"Why? My boss is hot. And I get to impress pretty girls like you." He answered with a smirk. "So wait, you're a Math teacher at Hammel. But you're from Ireland. No Math department in Ireland? Or is it because you have ties here?"

Kateri shook her head, amused in spite of herself. Asking Sett to stop his charms probably was as useless as asking him to stop breathing. The man didn’t seem to know how NOT to flirt. “No,” she said perfectly innocently as he was leaving once again. “That’s for the third meeting, if you make it that far.”

This time she actually managed to get a look around the bar before he’d come back, and her brows rose at his line. “I bet a lot of people part with their money for you,” she said with a grin. “You’re too modest. Everyone loves a good bartender, and you are very entertaining.” Yes, he’d been upgraded to “good.” It was a step, right?

And she hadn’t meant to get that serious. Kateri was looking for a nice night, not to analyze him. But she was curious about him too. She thought that was still allowed. She blinked for a moment as she pictured him ziplining to a pool, and she nodded slowly. “Yes, I could see the appeal of that. And Kali is very good looking, I have to agree. I love her hair. And what happened to the flattering again?” She wagged her finger. “Behave. I have my eye on you.”

However, she did hesitate at his question, her smile fading for a moment. Talk about loaded questions. Well, she’d just be careful about it, that was all. “Actually, I followed a boy,” she said, her smile flickering back on. “And I liked it here, so I stayed. I didn’t really think about moving back.” There: simple, but true nonetheless.

Sett was about to stay and reply to her but the customer was adamant in keeping his attention on her. Sett gave Kateri a sideways grin and served his customer. Finally, she was done with him and left him a big tip. Which he pocketed as he moved down to where Kateri was, a Cheshire cat grin on his face.

"Oh if I had my way, it won't be too long until that happened, beautiful." Sett raised an eyebrow with a smirk.

"Me? Modest? Why yes." He grinned at Kateri's compliments. "Well if you insist on me turning off my charms, I do believe you should switch yours off as well. It's only fair, don't you think? You clearly have the upper hand anyway. It's just not playing fair that I have to be subjected to your charms as well." Sett chuckled, implying that Kateri already had the attractiveness down pat and it was clearly an advantage to a guy like Sett that Kateri was a girl at all.

"Oh, Miss Rivera...you really shouldn't have asked me to stop my charms. It's not like I have any control over it whatsoever." The shapeshifter shook his head and finally processed what Kateri had just said. About his boss. Who wa a girl. A girl who could appreciate beauty in another girl was...so appealing to Sett. So appealing.

Shaking his head, he laughed it off and nodded as she explained her situation. So she does have a boy. Unsurprising. But damn it all, she was good at flirting, he had to appreciate that. Then again, if it was so easy for her to flirt with him, it couldn't be all that serious anymore, right?

"As good a reason as any. You still following this...boy?" Sett smirked.

Kateri might have been watching him and grinned as she noticed the rather large tip he was left. Didn’t get any money….riiiiiiiiight. It had been a nice try, though.

“You might be surprised,” she teased right back, leaning back in the stool to study him. “I’m not an easy one to impress. And my charms never get turned off. It comes naturally.” She rolled her eyes at her own “modesty,” then grinned at him. “Just like I guess yours are too.” Yes, she could tell that. Just like her, this boy didn’t know HOW to stop flirting at all. But she didn’t really mind no matter how much he protested. But only he could complain about not being allowed to flirt and compliment her at the exact same time.

And as for Kali’s attractiveness…well, it was true. Kat was jealous of her hair and was more than happy to admit to it. She didn’t think a guy would have found it appealing. Besides, she wasn’t really thinking about Kali as competition. There was nothing to compete over.

“Worried about jealous lovers?” she asked with a smirk of her own to his question. It helped make her feel a little more comfortable with the topic. “No, there’s no boy anymore. That was a very long time ago. So if you were hoping to make a move, you don’t have to worry about anyone bothering you.”

Mm, maybe a little forward? Oh well.

Sett adopted an affronted look, complete with both hands on his hips. "Pot meet kettle anyone?" He smirked, dropping the act and his hands to lean on the bar top, getting closer to the redhead. "You bet mine are natural." He cocked an eyebrow up.

Her question brought out a laugh from the bartender. "More like worried they wouldn't be able to handle me. I'm such a nice guy after all." He ducked his head in mock modesty before laughing at Kateri's next words.

Giving her a long gaze, Sett finally broke into a grin and stood back up to his full height. "I finish work at one. If you're still here by then, we can see if I was hoping to make a move." He ran his hand through his hair and grinned down at the redhead. "You want a refill there?"

Kateri grinned and watched him lean forward, not moving from her own position. She did like Sett. It was slightly awkward that he was the brother of one of her students, but…she’d overlooked worse, she supposed. And she was definitely enjoying the flirting.

“We’ll see,” was what she said, and then she laughed outright to his statement. Ah, had he met her husband…but she didn’t have to think about that right now, that was the beauty of being a widow. Besides, she doubted he would have minded. “A bartender and a tough guy, huh? Oh, what have I gotten myself into.”

A bit more than she’d originally been intending, but as she was a bit tipsy and hadn’t ever really thought actions through, she just didn’t care. She met his gaze and allowed her own eyes to skim over him, and then lifted her head to smile at him.

“One, huh?” She leaned back. “I might be able to stay that long. We’ll see.” She gave him a long look of her own, then laughed and pushed the glass toward him. “But I might need another drink first.”

It should prove to be an interesting night.
