The wood was just starting to crackle, sending sparks playing across the night. It was Friday, and what a Friday it was. The day had been warm but not killer and the evening was just chilly enough to make you want to have a jacket. A girl with long copperish hair moved around the lake with ease, trying to get the fire going. Somewhere nearby a stereo had music going, rockiskish party music that wouldn’t be stopping for a long time. She had scoured all her runner music and put together a playlist on her laptop that would hopefully please most people. If not they would just have to deal because she wasn’t really in the mood to take requests and she certainly wasn’t going to let anyone else mess with machinery. Not with all the modifications she had done to it to make it…well.. extremely hacked for one thing. Her devilish smile carved across her face and she went back to a table she had set up.
It had taken Aki all day to get the stuff here for a bonfire, especially one she didn’task permission to have. She wasn’t even sure how many people were going to come really. Of course, any trouble maker like herself would come, but it would be the whole sneaking out part that would be fun for them. She had left before curfew and hadn’t gone back inside since then, and hoped no one had noticed. Well, her roomies might have but that was a different story anyway. Now she was getting ready for a party because it seemed lately that everyone had needed one. It had taken her a week or so to spread the rumor that it was going to be down by the pond on the far side where she hoped the teachers wouldn’t take too much notice. No alcohol from her, but some knucklehead was bound to bring some anyway.
A few people had arrived in ones and two’s and were currently milling around. They were a bit younger, fifteenish, and she didn’t know them. She had said no one under fifteen so that there wouldn’t be too much trouble but didn’t know who would listen. All Aki cared about was that a bunch of people came so that there could be music, partying, fun, and eventually lots of practical jokes. That would be the best part.
