Conflict of Interest - Tags Mia

[Robbie Wilkes]

Robbie couldn't help but feel as though he was reverting to the nerdy fourteen year old he had been when he stepped into Hammel while everyone avoided him like a pariah. He had just lost his best friend and was now paying dearly for it. He wasn't even sure where Evan had been. He'd dropped by his second best friend's dorm a couple times but had not seem the phaser yet.

He then decided, screw it. If nobody would talk to him, he always had Zac but even he had poofed. Which left the next person on the list. Mia. After the Valentine's Day debacle, Robbie wasn't sure if Mia would actually talk to him even after pulling off a prank together. Well, not together...but still, they'd been on the same team. And since everyone he thought he could depend on was not around for him to talk to, Mia seemed the valid choice.

Robbie ventured into the dorm and because he was already there, he tried to look for Evan or even Levi but they weren't around. Was Evan avoiding him?

Knocking on Mia's door, he barged in and saw her at her computer. "Dude...I screwed up." He flopped on to her bed, like he owned the place and he and Mia were long time pals. Which they obviously weren't.

His kick sent her flying backwards, hitting the floor with a thump. His next she parried, and taking a gamble she left her defences open to grap his ankle and twist him onto his back. Before he could get to his feet, no doubt to finish her off with those brass knuckles of his, she jumped into the hair and landed on his back. With a battle roar, Mia pulled the head off her foe and ripped out his spine through the bleeding hole in his neck.

KO!

She'd won. Again. Wooo.

Mia pushed her chair away from the computer monitor with a sigh and stared up at her ceiling for a moment. Even without her powers, the computer was too easy to beat. The program had an obvious pattern that meant she could practically mirror her opponent's moves if she wanted to. Someone needed to improve the AI software or the Mortal Combat franchise was gonna fester and die.

Oh, wait. Too Late.

Her dispair and the fall of a videogame era was broken rudely when her door banged open. Hadn't she locked that? "Robbie, what the fuck-" she started dangerously, but he clearly was ready to make himself at home and flopped onto her bed. In an instant her eyes narrowed and her hands clenched into fists. He couldn't sit there.

"What are you doing here?" the technopath asked slowly, frowning. Last time she'd talked to Robbie it had been to sock him in the face on Valentines. To be fair, she had warned him to leave her alone, and that she did not have time to listen to his little confession when she had microphones to plant. And there was no way she'd hit him as hard as whoever had done his nose in. "Wilkes, you have like.... two seconds to explain why you are in my room."

Still, there wasn't a lot of venom in her voice. It was a break in the monotony. "And what the hell are you talking about anyway?" she added, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow.

Much to Mia's dismay, Robbie took no heed of her cussing and her warnings as he snuggled into Mia's...extremely uncomfortable pillow. Obviously, Mia didn't sleep on this. Or sleep at all.

Whatever. He wasn't here to contemplate on how many thread counts her bedsheet had. He was here because he needed someone to talk to and Mia was the only one he had left. Well, he still had Evan but he was MIA right now. And he was tired tracking people down.

"The prank at the talk! Duh...what else would I be talking about? Everybody hates me now. Estelle punched me. I had to endure stares that weren't filled with lust and Evan's missing, I don't know where he is and I've basically been ostracised by everyone I know. This is horrible!" Robbie growled and punched a hand down in Mia's pillow, suddenly not at all worried about whether he'd be eaten alive by the disabled technopath.

Well, that was disturbing. Mia's slightly upturned nose wrinkled as Robbie started making face love to her pillow. As it became quickly apparent he did not fear her as he should her eyes rolled back. This would be way more effort if he wasn't a quaking pile of malleable goo.

"What, that pisspoor effort of you and Zac?" she asked scornfully, examining her bitten nails just to make sure he got how unimpressed she had been by the shower of cheap dildos and vibrating eggs. "Like anyone cared about that." To her, it made no sense why someone would assign blame to him over what was obviously her trick, and so why people hated him was just odd. Still, she snorted at hearing Estelle had punched him. "Didn't know she had that in her," she grinned, then furrowed her eyebrows. "Why was she pissed? She wasn't even there."

Standing, Mia quickly walked over and whipped her pillow out of Robbie's hands, then hit him over the head with it. "Stop. Bitching," she snapped, punctuating each word with a featherbag blow. "God, if your friends get so pissy about something like that, they're obviously morons anyway, so who cares?"

"Dude, if they didn't care, why the hell am I being shunned?" Robbie panicked as he sat up straight. "I've never been shunned before!" He demanded dramatically before sagging back down on to the bed. "Estelle's had aikido lessons since she was three. I'm not surprised. And she's pissed because I was involved I guess? I don't know! She said I was worst than the bullies she had to face...augh! I just want her to forgive me!"

When the pillow was grabbed at, making Robbie hit his head on the equally hard and scratchy bed, he whined and didn't even bother to yelp out when he was beaten with the pillow. But when she basically called Estelle a moron, he flipped over and yelled at her. "Estelle's not a moron! You're a moron! Augh, you're not. I'm sorry but Estelle's not a moron okay? She's the smartest girl I've ever met and if she thinks I made a mistake then I've made a huge mistake." Robbie fell back on the bed and curled up into a ball. "You and your awesome powers getting those pictures at all. You're a bigger perv than Zac thought I was."

"Because you're an idiot?" MIa helpfully suggested, obviously amused by the heartthrob's antics. "What, you're having to work to get the panties dropping now? Poor baby." It was hard for her to sympathise; Mia had never been popular and while it was less being socially shunned and more being an object of terror, the antisocial technopath had never really seen the point of having a group of giggling ninnyhammers hanging around you like flies anyway.

Then he had to go insult her. It was more the fact that he was in her room and on her bed that it really bothered her. So she hit him in the face with the pillow as hard as she could. He seemed to get the picture, and so took it back. This as wise of him. For the last hour she'd been working at ripping people apart with martial arts and such actions did not translate safely into real life.

Shrugging off the perv comment, Mia rolled her eyes and fell onto the bed beside the fetus-shaped Robbie. "I have hundres of hours of stuff," she groaned, not even wanting to think about the shit she had had to shift through. "Not my fault the kiddies can't kept out of each other's pants."

With a bit of a laugh, the technopath shrugged and closed her eyes. "God, if you're so freaked out by people getting shitty, why'd you get involved in the first place? What, you thought no one would care? Dude, that's really fucking stupid."

Mia's helpful suggestion turned out to be very unhelpful, surprisingly enough as Robbie glared at her from the bed. Her next remark brought him back up in a sitting position. "You don't have any problems with boxer droppings. You're a fucking girl. Me? My looks can only go so far. You've got boobs and that...!" He pointed downwards to the area between Mia's leg for emphasis.

"Do you know how long it took me to where I am now? Four hundred and twenty days. Four hundred and twenty days of pure torture trying to just get up the nerve to talk to girls and now nobody wants to talk to me because of some stupid pictures. God damn it." He groused, petulantly crossing his arms over his chest and looked out the window.

The pillow hitting did not help either, surprisingly. It just made him aware that just because Mia Keystone was tiny, didn't mean she didn't have some balls on her. "You're scary. I don't care how many people think you're just a tiny little thing and they want to cuddle because you're scary. But could you do me a solid and get better lighting when you take my pictures? It's for the ladies' sakes. I'm none too fussy about myself but the ladies...they need the lighting." He shrugged.

"Psh you're one to talk. And I'm not freaked out, who said I was freaked out?" His voice thinned out by the end of the sentence, showing just how un-freaked out he was. His shoulders sagged once more and he sighed. "Well. Might as well just continue being a social pariah." He needed to talk to Evan. He really did.

"My vagina, you mean?" Mia asked, one corner of her mouth lifting in a crooked smile. "It helps, yeah. But I keep my encounters out of school, dude." Because while she had boobs and her other girlie parts, as Robbie had so aptly pointed out, her contempt for almost all of her peers sort of put a stop to her wanting to see them starkers.

Well, most of them anyway.

"It is really, really sad you are counting," the technopath said honestly, "people don't talk to me anyway. It's more peaceful. You avoid a lot of stupid stuff. And after long enough, they start talking around you and then you can hear." These were trade secrets; Robbie better be taking notes. One day, he too may be a super spy.

In response to her being ever considered cuddly, Mia snorted. Loudly. "Fuck off," the technopath scoffed, folding her arms and glaring at the ceiling. "Just make it sunny next time or whatever. Actually," rolling over, Mia ignored the fact that some of her fake-black hair had mussed itself all over her face, "Ya know how you weather people are always bitching about your emotions, and how it kept raining for like, ever when that Avery girl was around, what happens when you come? Is there like, lightning? Or a rainbow? Because that would be awesome."

The social pariah thing was silly, and he should have known better then to expect sympathy from someone who took pride in how many people disliked her. Robbie had probably lost more acquaintances then Mia had had friends in her lifetime. "They'll get over it," she muttered, rolling back away to glare at her wall instead. "They always get over it. You'll be back to your man whore ways in no time."

"Yes your fucking vagina." Robbie emphasised. "And it doesn't matter where you do it. I don't even care where you do it. I don't even care if you're even doing it. Can we get to the part where this rant is actually about me?" He groused.

"Augh, Keystone you're not helping!" Robbie had unconsciously sidled up closer to Mia on the bed as she spoke and like a snap of a rubber band, Mia's comment changed Robbie's snivelling self. "Why, would you like to find out?" He propped himself up on his elbow and gave Mia eyebrows.

"You want to screw?" Mia asked, turning to look at the blonde boy. "Now? Seriously? Dude, come on, you really want to go down that road again?" She was pretty sure he'd tried to ask her out at the Valentines dance. He'd wanted to ask her something, anyway, and when she'd told him she really didn't have time to talk (Ann and Zac wer facing off with that other little dude) he had not gotten out of her way, and so she had hit him, then moved on. Nothing personal, just a shut up now sort of a thing.

But honestly, a good tumble sounded alright right now, and if her evidence showed anything it was that he seemed to show girls a good time. "But what about the lighting?" the technopath pointed out, smirking.

But no. Shit. No. King. Robbie and Jonah were mates and the last thing she wanted was Robbie running off to crow about nailing her to him.

"Hey, Wilkes," Mia asked slowly, this train of thought leading to a very important question. "You heard anything from King lately?"

Yes, she had moved on completely from the sex topic, but the connection made sense in her mind.

Despite still being a little sensitive and uh...distraught over his sudden lack of popularity, Robbie still knew he had boyparts. And his boyparts never failed to react in Mia's presence. Even though the last time he'd tried to say anything about it, she gave him a bloody nose.

"What about the lightning?" He raised an eyebrow with a smirk. "People get to see a free fireworks show. No harm in that." He shrugged, stretching a little and trying to get comfortable. At least she wasn't shoving him out of the room or ripping his head off via his spine. So things were shaping up.

An eyebrow slowly raised as Robbie realised surprisingly instantly as to why Mia was hesitating. "Wait...Jonah? No. I thought you...oh my God. You're totally hung up on him aren't you? That's why you're saying no to me?" he laid on his side, looking at Mia carefully.

"Robbie, shut up," Mia managed to get out from behind a jaw which had suddenly tightened. "I don't need an excuse to not sleep with you. It's not like that."

It was so like that.

And Robbie was having one of his less air-headed moments and seemed to get that too so Mia sighed and rolled onto her stomach. Maybe she could just smother herself. "If you tell anyone, so help me god I will put my foot so far up your ass you'll have leather caught between your teeth for a month," she mumbled, then rolled face up again. "Just... seriously. I haven't even talked to him since he graduated because he's a fucking telepath and can read my freaken mind so just... don't talk to him about it. If you still talk to him."

Now there was an interesting question. Was she the only one King had cut off? Was he even talking to anyone anymore? Was he still talking? Or was it all sign language?

With a pointed look she hooked one leg over Robbies. "Don't tell him about that. Then, I might sleep with you. If you ask nicely."

It may be confusing to some how Mia could confess to having feelings for someone, then agree to casual sex with someone else, but, as far as the rather detached technopath was concerned, sex was a mutually exclusive event to actually liking someone. It was just fun, like video games.

It explained a lot, really.

He opened his mouth to argue that even he knew it was exactly 'like that' but he decided against it when Mia threatened him. He shuddered at the imagery she gave him and scooted a tad ways away from her on the bed. "Yeah, whatever." He mumbled half-heartedly.

"Uh...actually no. I haven't been in contact with him...Kinda miss him." Robbie shrugged. He did miss Jonah. The deaf telepath was kind of a reliable, unchanging comfort for Robbie, much like Estelle had been but...no. Stop it, Wilkes, he thought to himself.

He turned to Mia when she hooked a leg over his and he gave a charming smile, almost robotically. Like he was used to. One hand moved to Mia's stomach, sliding it to the side before moving her so she was lying on her back and he was hovering over her. "Should I get a bed of rose petals for you, Keystone?" He asked with a smirk before his lips descended upon hers.

"Yeah, me too," Mia replied softly, frowning and rubbing a hand over her face. She really missed him, and it wasn't about the whole 'like' thing. She missed having someone to message and talk (sort of) to, who got her and who knew when to tell her to shut up and go outside so she didn't die of vitamin D deficiency.

She even missed that nagging worry that he might accidentally read her mind and actually understand it.

Her thoughts were in other places as Robbie ran his hand over her stomach, but when he kissed her, her eyes opened wide. Almost instinctivly, she kissed back, but...

No. This didn't feel right. This was not right. Robbie was a (sortof) friend and he was Jonah
s friend but he wasn't...

Her hands pushed at his chest and she rolled away, grabbing her pillow and burying her face in it. "Can't," she said flatly into her pillow. "Not in mood, Wilkes." And for some unknown reason, she almost felt bad for the weather manipulator. And not just because she could tell he was, well, up for it. "Its just... you know, I just told you about... would be weird."

Being pushed away by Mia was sort of predictable. There was no way in hell he could ever replace Mia's...whatever emotion she felt for Jonah. And he knew there was also no way on earth he would ever get to sleep with her. She was a little too smart to give in to him.

Shrugging, he pushed off the bed and walked out of Mia's door. For a second, he thought he could persuade her one last time but he refrained and shook his head.

"If you see him again, tell him I said hey." He voiced out before exiting the room.
