Eating Crow and Pizza (Avi)

[Lucy Holiday]

No text, no call, no nothing. Avi had been totally ignoring Lucy since date night and Lucy was fed up with it! The worse part was that Lucy wasn't exactly sure what she had done to deserve it this time. Sure she had gotten bitchy over the whole Edward date dress up fiasco, but Avi had started that! Besides, Lucy had apologized - repeatedly - with at least fifty texts and attempted calls, but NO reply. Determined to get her message across, Lucy spent her holiday break coming up with a plan. A very good plan at that.

And so as soon as the break was over, Lucy set her plan in motion. All she needed was a couple of extra slices of pizza to bribe the roommates. Lucy knew they would be under orders to keep her away, but food typically took care of those arrangements. Just as she thought, that was all it took to buy her way into the dorm room that Issac and Tristan shared with Avi. Ha! Phase one, a success!

Now it was time for Phase Two...infiltrating the inner sanctum. Carefully, Lucy opened the box to let the smell of pizza waft out as she stood outside of Avi's bedroom door. A gallon of ice cream and a Beauty and the Beast dvd bounced around in the bag hanging from her arm. With her free hand, Lucy pecked out a quick text message.

"I'm on my way over with pizza and goodies, like it or not!" SEND

Once the message was sent, Lucy knocked on the door to prove her claim. There! Now Avi had no time to think about it. As she stood and waited, Lucy fanned the pizza to waft the smell into Avi's room. It was Avi's favorite - meat lovers with extra bacon. Using her gift in olfactory projection, Lucy ramped up the smell to an irresistible level.

Avi had been ignoring Lucy. Since the date night she just... was tired of trying. Not to mention scared as hell. Avi didn't know why she was acting like this and she knew it wasn't fair but love wasn't fair right? Wait. Was she in love? Avi didn't know anything about love, she didn't know anything about the foreign concept. Frankly it scared her and with her best friend? That just made it worse. As the thought came she could feel herself blushing. She didn't know what to do and the whole situation was just embarrassing.

Avi had been ignoring Lucy for the entirety of the break. She knew it wasn't fair and she was just scared to see her friend. She knew she was being a bitch, but Avi didn't care. Her fear was over taking her love care for her friend and Avi didn't know how to deal. She was ignoring the texts and the calls and any place they would normally be together. She even went to the library. Avi didn't like the library.She had even gone so far as to tell Tristan and Issac to give Lucy wrong places she was at if asked. They had done it, almost hesitantly though.


Avi was laying on her bed, not wanting to get out of bed again today. She did all of her work and she was just planning on lazing about when her phone buzzed. Still in her pajamas Avi looked at the phone and her eyes widened. Why was Lucy coming over. Maybe she still had time to flee.

As Avi was looking around trying to flee she thought about what she was going to do. She couldn't avoid Lucy forever, but she could try.Avi thought that this might go away. That was the only thing that was keeping her from running around and trying to figure this out. If this stopped she could go back to normal. Right now Avi couldn't act normal around her friend.

From the door Avi heard a knock. then came the smell. Was that? but she... Dammit. Lucy didn't play fair. Maybe if she ignored her she would go away. Avi knew that wasn't true though and if Lucy had gotten past Tristan and Issac then Lucy knew she was there. Sighing Avi slowly walked over to her door and opened it, running as fast as she could back to her bed and getting under the covers. It would all go well if she couldn't see her. "Hi.. close the door behind you"

Lucy stood with a smug smile on her face as she waited outside the door. She knew she had Avi trapped this time. Though she had to admit that the sneaky blond had done a good job of giving her the slip over the past few days. Well, not this time! Lucy was standing between Avi and the only exit.

As the door opened, Lucy plastered on her best grin. The grin was short lived as Lucy caught only a glimpse of pale skin and golden hair running away. Oh great, we're doing the hiding thing now. "Don't hi me! You are in trouble." A teasing tone lingered in her voice to show she was joking around.

Lulu rolled her eyes and chuckled as she shut the door behind her. "Avinea Resla Jale, you gotta be kidding me." Shaking her head, Lucy set the pizza down on Avi's desk. To free up her hands, she set the bag of ice cream down beside it. "I don't know what sort of funk you're in but my pizza, ice cream and Beauty say that you're gonna get out of it."

Determined not to be ignored any longer, Lucy toed off her yellow canvas sneakers and tiptoed over to Avi's bed. Without warning, she climbed up on the foot of the bed - careful not to step on the silly girl hiding under the plush blankets. With a wicked grin she began to bounce and chant. "Avi, Avi, Avi. Where is my Avi?" Giggling and bouncing, Lucy waited for her friend to surface. The pigtails of her wig tickled her neck as they bounced along with her.

Avi was hiding for a reason and Lucy was thwarting that plan that she had. The fact that she was able to made Avi sad. Lucy really did know her best. It made her sad she was avoiding her now. It wasn't like she had a choice though.

Avi's heart sank as she heard her friend come in. She was in trouble? She didn't blame Lucy for saying that but she also knew she wasn't ready to face her yet. Yes Avi was childish enough t hide. Even if it was the most obvious place to hide. " S..sorry." She mumbled the words fro underneath the blanket. It was safer there.

Avi cringed when Lucy used her middle name. She had only told a few people about it and Lucy had been one of them. It only made this harder. When her middle name was used she knew it meant business. Baking against the wall Avi kept under the blanket, only her toes popping out. Ice cream? Pizza? A movie? Why was Lucy doing this? Lucy should hate her...

When it all fell silent Avi knew something was going to happen. Before she knew it Lucy was on the bed with her, on top of the covers of course, and bouncing. As she stared bouncing Lucy started chanting as well. hesitantly she poked her head out to look at Lucy, her long blond hair unkempt and in a tangle of curls." My Avi?"

Antagonizing Avinea was actually pretty fun. "Sorry? You avoid me for days and all ya got is sorry?" Lucy wasn't buying that apology at all. Mission aggravate Avinea was still a go! For a few minutes Lucy actually forgot that they were fighting, or not speaking, or whatever. She knew Avi well enough to know that a bit of silliness would break the stubborn streak. Or at least she hoped so. This really was the longest that Avi had ever avoided her, so she wasn't completely certain what to expect. All she knew was that laughter is contagious.

And Lucy was laughing her butt off. It felt good to bounce on the bed like a little girl. As she bounced she giggled at the pink toes peeking out from beneath the blanket. She chanted her little chant loud enough that she knew Avi would come out soon, even if it was just to shut her up. As soon as Lucy spotted the tangled mess of curls she stopped bouncing. With one last bounce she flopped down at the foot of the bed and sat with her legs folded.

Lucy played with her fake pigtails and gave Avi a confused look. "Well, yeah. You're still my Avi...and I'm still your Lulu, right?" Insecurity crept into her voice as it cracked slightly at the end. A strange hammering pounded in her chest as she waited for a reply. Suddenly the worst thought in the world was the thought that Avi really was done being her friend. Lucy stared at the bedheaded blond and couldn't imagine her life without her.

Avi kept herself hidden from her friend under the blanket and from the words coming out of her mouth Avi knew deep down she was at fault here. But she also knew that she wouldn't have been able to talk to Lucy. not like before if she hadn't avoided her. She was her best friend, but the fight changed that. Trying one more time Lucy peaked her eyes out of the blanket. "I really am sorry.."

Avi slowly began to smile as Lucy continued her quest to make her come out. Lucy was always someone who was able to cheer Avi up, no matter the time. At least she hoped Lucy wouldn't hate her. Avi was afraid the fight had made Lucy hate her. That was was just acting like this to get revenge She knew she shouldn't think bad of her friend but she couldn't help it. They had ended the fight on bad terms. That is why it was a fight after all.

Avi peeked out over the blankets almost ready to cry again. With tears in her eyes she looked at the pigtailed girl by her. "You..you don't hate me now?" Avi honestly thought that Lucy would hate her. After all, she had admitted she had a crush on her, over text and Lucy never seemed into that sort of thing. Not to mention they were best friends. What would Happen now? Avi was scared to find out.

"Ok, but you're still not off the hook." Nope. Not this time. This time Lucy wasn't going to give up until things went back to normal. She wasn't going to stop bugging Avi until Avi stopped hiding from her. Because of her own stubborn secret, Lucy had already came close to loosing her best friend. Lucy wasn't about to let that happen again. Especially not now. There were just too many confusing things that needed to be cleared up.

As Lucy watched Avi peek out from the blankets the petite brunette blushed brightly. Avi looked exactly like she did in the dream Lucy had had the night before. The same dream Lucy had been having since that whole texting fight. Lucy bit her lip and choked on her guilt. This was so not the time to be thinking about that. If Avi knew what Lucy was thinking she'd probably hide from her forever. Lucy was sure she'd misunderstood the text that Avi had sent. She was sure she was a pervert for even taking it that way.

Lucy sighed and shook her head. The tears glistening in Avi's eyes broke her heart. Shuffling closer, Lucy pulled at a thread on the blanket and shook her head. "Of course I don't hate you. You're the one that hates me. I mean...I haven't been avoiding you..." Lucy trailed off and left out the word anymore. She figured it was a bad time to bring up the fight they had just gotten over.

She wasn't off the hook? That meant Lucy was still mad at her. Avi felt half the urge to g back under the covers and hide more. Then she wouldn't have to deal with this? right? Avi just hoped that whatever Lucy was plotting Avi wasn't going to regret. She did want Lucy's forgiveness, but at what cost? "But I...."

Avi bit her lip and looked down. Gosh she just wanted to go hide right now. Slowly looking back up at Lucy she smiled and opened the blanket... just a little bit. It was her way of making up for pushing her away. She was inviting her in. This was all the stupid text's fault.

At Lucy's words Avi's heart gave a jolt. She didn't hate her? Then she continued. Yea... Avi had been avoiding her. Avi's emotions could be seen on her face through this whole thing. For one thing she was quiet and for another she was scared. "I don't want to lose my best friend.." Avi bit her lip before shakily continuing... "even if I do..." Avi was blushing beet red by now and she stuck her head under the blanket again whispering the words. Hopefully Lucy wouldn't hear her.

The blush made Lucy tingle all the way down to her toes. The only thing that wasn't tingling was her stomach which was full of butterflies. Lucy hated feeling so confused. She was no stranger to being attracted to girls, but this wasn't just any girl. This was Avinea. This was her best friend! This broke all the bff rules. Especially since Lucy had never even told Avi about her girl crushes. They had only ever talked about guys. Which is exactly what made Lucy think that she'd read the text wrong. Avi wasn't talking about her. Avi was talking about Edward, right? That's who Avi was crushing on.

Stupid text! Lucy tried to ignore the tingling as Avi pulled back the blanket to invite her in. With an awkward grin, she scooted up and crawled in next to Avi. It was all nice and warm under there! As she settled in she silently scolded herself for wearing a tshirt in the middle of a Vermont winter. The invitation had to be a good sign. It had to mean that Avi didn't hate her. "Loose me? You're not gonna loose me." Lucy was mumbling and trying to ignore Avi's thigh pressed against hers.

The rush of wind from the blanket clamping down over Avi's face distracted her. Lucy's eyes widened and her jaw dropped. She couldn't hear what Avi said, but she was not in the mood for more hiding. Avi deserved to be punished for making Lucy feel so confused. "Oh, no. No you don't!" Tugging at the blanket, Lucy stuck her face in and glared at the hiding blond. "You are not going to loose your best friend. You are going to quit hiding and start explaining 'cause you got me all confused! I couldn't even kiss him, Avi. Not...one...kiss!" If there had been room under there Lucy would have definitely had her hands on her hips. The sternness in her voice trailed off as Lucy realized she was blushing yet again.

It was the stupid text message that made all of this conflicting. She never should have sent it. She had read and reread it in attempt to understand what Lucy had gotten out of it. What she meant was that she didn't want to share Lucy. Especially with someone she didn't even know. Someone like him. Avi wrinkled her nose at the very thought. She didn't like him. She liked Lucy. Why did it take her so long to realize this?

Avi was glad that Lucy came into the blanket abyss she had created. Avi glanced up sharply when Lucy spoke. She wasn't gonna lose her? That.... made all the difference. Avi just wanted to things to go into a balance. She blushed harder as her bare skin touched Lucy's. She was only wearing pajama shorts and a sweater. That was the whole reason for the blanket abyss." Y...You sure?" Avi wanted Lucy to be sure. She wanted her friend there no matter what. even when Avi had a crush on her. Lucy didn't like her like that... Avi was sure of it.

Avi noticed the invasion of her blankets almost immediately. She backed up against the wall as far as she could, her mind racing with what Lucy was saying. She couldn't kiss whats his face? Because of her? As Lucy got closer and closer to the retreating blonde Avi could feel her face grow more and more red. God she smelled good. Avi mentally slapped herself for thinking that way, Lucy didn't like her like that.

Hiding in the blanket Avi finally gave up looking at Lucy with a new determination in her eyes. " You want an explanation?" This time it was Avi advancing until they were just inches away from each other. "Fine." Before Lucy could react Avi slowly leaned in and kissed her.

Hopefully that would explain things.

Lucy could feel her confusion growing. Avi was just acting plain nuts. Nothing fit. They had liked the same guy before, but it couldn't be that because Avi had never met him. So she was just jealous that Lucy had hooked a college guy, right? Lucy's head was swimming as she tried to figure things out. "Yes. Of course I'm sure!" But that was about the only thing Lucy was sure of. Everything else had her totally lost.

Lucy didn't like feeling lost. Which was one of the reasons she refused to let Avi hide. The blankets tented around them as Lucy sat up beneath them and stared her friend down. Sure Avi was stubborn, but Lucy was, too! She rolled her eyes again and scooted closer. This had gone far enough. Lucy wanted to know why Avi conspired to ruin the first date she'd had in months. One brow arched as her opponent switched strategies and started crawling closer to Lucy. "Yes. I deserve an explanation. You totally ruined my groove..." Lucy's words began to falter as Avi continued to inch closer.

Ok. This was getting even more confusing. Lucy could feel the tips of her ears turning pink. She had that same tingling feeling in her lips that she had felt the night they played truth or dare. "Fine." Lucy whispered the word but didn't really even know why she was saying it at the moment. All she knew was that Avi was really, really close. Close enough that Lucy could smell Avi's shampoo. Just when she was about to demand Avi to start talking, Lucy felt the familiar press of lips against lips. Her eyes flew wide open and her heart was galloping. It wasn't the first time she'd found her lips pressed against Avi's, but it was the first time there wasn't a dare to keep.

After a split second of confused shock, Lucy finally closed her eyes and kissed back. Shyly she reached up and rested her hand on Avi's shoulder as she let her friend know that she wasn't going to run away. Fireworks! There were fireworks exploding in her brain!

Avi bit her lip looking down. She knew she was crazy. This whole thing was crazy. She didn't know what she was doing and she didn't know what she as going to do. All she knew was that she was glad Lucy agreed to be her friend. No matter what. In truth Avi was jealous of Edward. Lucy was the one she wanted and that scared Avi. I broke every best friend rule there was and scared the sh*t out of Avi. Her emotions were in turmoil.


Hence why one moment she was backing away the next she was advancing forward. All under the blankets. Avi was having trouble going through with what she was planning but knew it was mandatory. If she didn't do it now she wouldn't do it, she would also continue to hide. Lucy deserved an explanation and she as going to get one, just in not the ordinary way. As Avi inched closer her stomach was full of butterflies. She didn't know if Lucy knew or understood, but she was glad that she would still be her friend. She had promised.

Avi herself was red, redder then one could think possible and it was very confusing and she hated it. She wasn't in control and she didn't like not being in control. It seemed that her emotions were going to do what they wanted and she wasn't going to be able to change that. Avi bit her lip as she looked at Lucy, who was starting to fidget. before they both knew it Avi was kissing Lucy. Avi had her eyes shut, not wanting to see Lucy's reaction, for fear it might be anger. Lucy wasn't reacting and Avi was scared for when she did start to. She was about to pull away when Lucy did something that made Avi's eyes fly open.

Lucy was kissing her back! This... was to much for Avi's brain to process. Slowly, after enjoying the small kiss for a while she pulled away and rested her head on her knees curling into herself. "Now do you get it?" All she wanted to do was hide and the way the wind was pulling the blanket down around her proved that as well as any thing.

In the midst of the kiss, Lucy secretly pinched herself on the arm to make certain she wasn't dreaming. It definitely felt like a dream! In fact, it was a whole lot like the dream she'd been having over the break...and maybe even like the dream she'd been having since her first kiss from Avi. Only, in that dream Lucy was the one that kissed Avi and Lucy got slapped for it! With her free hand she pinched her arm gently and then a bit harder. Ouch! Wait...ouch is a good thing! Ouch meant that this was real!

Lucy's heart pounded frantically as she tried to figure out how to react. Of course she knew she should kiss back, which she finally did when the shock wore off - but what next? As Avi pulled away, Lucy's hand automatically lifted to touch her lips. Lucy's lips were all warm and tingly and her cheeks were a bright blush pink. Shock still lingered in her eyes mixed with something more, something she didn't fully understand just yet. In response to Avi's statement, Lucy nodded dumbly. Not very helpful considering Avi was hiding once again and probably couldn't even see Lucy's face. "I...I...I think so..."

Taking a deep breath, Lucy finally let her hand drop. Behind her fingertips a broad grin had spread across her face. With too many possibilities running around in her brain, Lucy began to babble. "I mean, you just kissed me - right? A real kiss, right? Like, no dare, no bet, right? You didn't loose a bet did you? Is it a prank? You kissed me because you wanted to kiss me and not because someone else wanted you to kiss me - right?" Finally running out of breath, Lucy realized her voice had gotten really loud and really high pitched. And she was still grinning like an idiot. Blushing over her own awkwardness, Lucy tugged at the blanket clamped down over Avi and finally paused enough for her friend....or girlfriend...or whatever - to get a word in.

Avi could only hold her breath ad wait. She wasn't sure if she was going to get slapped at any moment and didn't want it to happen. She was treading on very thin water and didn't want it to end. it almost felt dream like, but Avi knew it was real. After all it had to be real. If it wasn't this was going to end very very badly.

What now? Avi had kissed her best friend and didn't know what to do now. Her plan had only made it this far, she was lost on what to do. Everything she did was off or wrong and she wasn't sure how to continue. Instead she chose to hide more. Pulling the blanket over her head she roughly heard Lucy's words. How did she think so? Avi had just kissed her for crying out loud. That wasn't that hard to get. Avi was blushing furiously and hiding pulling the blanket down even more. What was she gonna do now?

Then came the babbling. What? no! It wasn't a prank and it wasn't done because someone else had wanted her too. how could Lucy ask that? Avi huddled more and pulled her head to her knees. "L..Lucy.." the way she was talking though Avi couldn't get a word in otherwise. It was sort of cute in a way. Lucy had always been like that and Avi was used to it but it hadn't dawned on her how cute it was until now. When she finally stopped talking for a moment, Avi slowly peeked her head out of her abyss and looked at Lucy before nodding slightly. "Is... Is that ok?"

She was still worried Lucy would hate her now.

Lucy heard Avi called her name, but that didn't slow down the words that were spilling out of her mouth. Once her brain ran out of words to say, she realized that she was feeling a bit light headed. Her little babbling session had left her feeling dizzy and breathless. Or maybe that was from the kiss. Either way, Lucy was fuzzy and tingly and warm all over. She concentrated on taking slow, useful breaths while she waited for Avi to reply.

In addition to the dizziness, Lucy could hear her pulse pounding in her ears. All she could think about at the moment was how devastated she would be if the whole thing turned out to be a prank or a bet. Her steroid swollen fingers nervously plucked at random threads on the blankets around them as she watched Avi peek out at nod. For a moment she was speechless. Lucy stared at Avi with a slow smile spreading across her lips and nodded intently. When she finally spoke, her voice was soft and a bit breathless. "I just....you know...wanted to check. You know - since our first kiss really was a dare." Lucy paused for a moment and blushed before actually answering Avi's question.

Once again, her voice held a slightly cautious tone as if she was afraid to ruin the moment or pop the happily little bubble she was floating in. "Yeah, Avi - it's okay. It's so much more than okay." Brushing a pigtail off of her shoulder, Lucy grinned broadly. "Are you gonna come out so we can eat now?" The thought was totally random and off subject, but at the moment her stomach was growling and she had no clue what to do or say next. She knew what she wanted to do. She wanted to kiss Avi again...but she didn't know how much more kissing Avi could take before she ended up back in hiding for the rest of the day.
