And she did it once again.
Zac didn’t bother hiding the chuckle that came right after Naomi completely turned the joke back to Cole. It was truly epic, and rather smart too. To be honest, he could never have thought about that in a hundred years. A thousand even. He then decided to completely ignore what he perceives to be Cole’s attempt at a comeback by rubbing more salt on the wound, as it were. “Sorry Cole, but I think nothing you can say right now can topple what Naomi did to you. Try to find back your dignity first then I’ll go talk to you.” It was rather harsh, so he added a little wink just to make it clear that he was just kidding.
He’d be lying if he said that Naomi’s reaction was rather unexpected. Sure, she appeared like some prim and proper lady when he first went over and sat with her, but she didn’t really have that vibe most people had – the one that persecuted him just because all others around him did. That’s what he hates the most about the fiasco – people calling him names just because they heard a little butterfly cried and ran out. Heck, most people in that were in the display – like Cole and Lukas – were rather cool with it. People were shocked and embarrassed, yes, but they weren’t angry. Zac believes that if it wasn’t for Moe’s attention-grabbing exit (and those lousy friends she has perfectly manipulated to go and torment poor Robbie), none of this would’ve happened.
“I provided her with sufficient instructions Naomi,” he corrected her. She looked impressed, yes, but he couldn’t help but feel a slight condescension when she told him that. “Though I tell her that she can alter the porn-display should she decide that it was inadequate.” And compared to the effect the slideshow had, it really was. “Well, I’m the mastermind. Isn’t that the whole thing about government? Even if it was your underlings that messed up, you still have to take responsibility for it.” Whoever said he doesn’t know responsibility is clearly wrong. He doesn’t have remorse, yes, but he does know that the weight on his shoulders is a whole lot heavier compared to his three accomplices.
Just don’t tell Mia he called her an ‘underling’ though.
“Cole was too busy mending his broken heart to help,” he teased, nudging the other boy with his elbow, “And Robbie and JD were easier to manipulate.” Robbie definitely. JD’s a whole different story though.
“Anyway Naomi, do you know where stuff are in this place already? Or do you need someone to show you the rooms?” They’re all done with their food anyway (or at least Cole will be done in a bit). Figures it’s time to act like a good host and all that.
