You're My Saving Grace (Craven)

Craven's brow furrowed at her words and he watched her for some time. What could he say about that? She had so many guys after her at one point and he was just her funny best friend who was ever so comforting when she needed someone to lean on. Craven hated the thought of hurting her but it was far too late now. He'd already hurt Gia once and he was planning on fully commiting to her, come December. He was all geared up to tell his dad, getting it all worked out in his head. Prepping for the worst. Craven was anticipating a good outcome though.

At some point he had to test his theory on Tanner of course but right now, he was making arrangements for them to sit down and have a nice little chat about all of this. Adrianna and her newly developed feelings for him was certainly bound to make things more difficult and he really could not afford difficult right now. Craven shook his head and sighed at her.
"You won't get between us. Nothing will ever get between us ever again. I'm buying us promise rings."

Craven didn't know why he announced that to her. Maybe he wanted to make sure that she knew what was going to happen. She spoke about her dancing and his eyes snapped shut. He turned his head away and stepped back away from him, digging his hands in his pockets.
"We can't do this. We can't..."
Craven slowly lifted his blue eyes to her but they were filled with absolute turmoil right then.

"Adri... We just can't okay? I have to go. I'm sorry."
And just like that, Craven turned and nearly ran out the room. He didn't want to hear about Halo being for him. About her thinking about him and dancing like he'd seen her dancing. He especially didn't want to think about kissing her, holding her, wiping away her tears. Those things were reserved for his Gia and only Gia. He needed to get out.

The words he'd said had made her heart plummet. It literally felt as if it had fallen into the pit of her stomach and she had a feeling this wouldn't be as easily taken care of as it had been before. He had no feelings for her. She'd been right all along. And yet, it still managed to crush her more than anything else ever had. And she'd thought Talen had hurt her...that was nothing but a pin prick compared to this.

He kept going. As if she hadn't gotten in the first time.

Tears filled her eyes rapidly and she looked into his bright blue ones. Filled with pain, and yet she didn't believe it was real. How could it be when he was just standing there ripping her apart, piece by piece? No. He didn't feel pain for breaking her heart. He'd only ever thought of her as a friend. Now, she didn't even think he felt as a friend to her.

When he ran from the room, all hope for a friendship vanished and she crumbled beneath the pressure of losing him. All because she couldn't keep her mouth shut. She'd lost him among all others she'd gotten close to. Abandonment. That's all she'd ever known.

He left her just as every other man had in her life. Who would she go to now? Robbie was there, sure, but he had his own things to deal with. She couldn't burden anyone else. She wouldn't. Adrianna had a plan already set and it crushed her to think about.

She'd turn into a hermit. Never leaving her room, only if she was out for a run. Never socializing. She'd simply cut herself off from everyone else so she didn't have to handle the abandonment any further. Why would she want that? Every time she got close to someone they left her. What had made her think this would be any different?

What was so wrong with her?

She honestly didn't know why everyone ran from her, but she knew it was somehow her fault. Everything else was, why would this be? She was at a loss. Maybe she'd be able to leave Hammel and go back to live with her mother. She'd spend time with the one constant in her life, that was soon to no longer be there. Soon, she'd be completely and dreadfully alone.

Much like she felt now...only somehow worse.
