Rhett's mind works different than most people. Every person is a machine in a sense, but the way Rhett's brain has learned to work, or does so because of his ability, is quite particular and more machine-like than most. He is, in any sense possible, an data gatherer and analyst. Most people receive information from the world via five senses, and some would say every person has a sixth sense, a hunch, it may be called. But Rhett has an additional, and it's not just a hunch, his extrasensory perception is a fully developed sense that works as a gateway for data to shower Rhett's brain. Whenever information enters his mind, be it sensory or extrasensory, his brain process it like a machine would too. Where does it fit, how does it affect the result, what is the new conclusion and how does it change everything else, it is all solved like a group of equations would, and it has worked for him in every aspect of his life. And he likes it, it lets him detach from life.
But he's attached now. The information that is entering his brain is not more than what he has handled before, but he's somehow unable to respond to it, to see it well enough. If it were a one plus one, he's only seeing the first one and that's about it, how is he supposed to know that he has to add another one there? Even if he knew, he couldn't possibly see the number two in the other side of the equation, he just can't. Maybe Rhett's been blinded, and just like the last time it happened, he could feel the rush of adrenaline spike through his veins, his heart making sure every inch of his body taste it.
Just like last time, Rhett isn't thinking, he can't do so. Just like last time, his conscious and cold mind won't stop him from acting only with his instincts. Just like last time, he closed his eyes and tackled the dark-haired boy pushing him backwards into the desk, landing on top of him. Just like last time, he looked at Talen in the eyes.
Unlike last time, Rhett grabbed Talen's left side neck with one hand and right side hip with the other. Unlike last time, the french boy threw his lips into Talen's and landed a deep aggressive kiss that correctly fitted his nationality.
