Dashing Through the Snow (Cam)

The day after the trio arrived in Ravyn's hometown, Cam and Ravyn both woke up feeling pretty refreshed and very ready for some action. Noah, unfortunately, was still dealing with the side-effects of jetlag - he didn't seem to feel up for much of anything other than resting and eating Alyna's amazing food. After conversing with him for a while, Ravyn and Cam were shooed off to go have fun on their own. Noah insisted that he would be up and ready for fun in no time, he just needed to get a little more used to being across the ocean.

Ravyn went to pull on her snow clothes, since it had snowed again the previous night and there was a fresh blanket of the stuff over the foot or so that had already been there. That done, and after telling her mom they were going out for a jaunt in the snow, they left the house. Ravyn felt bad leaving Noah by himself, but Alyna had assured her that she would keep the blonde occupied. Ravyn trusted her not to do anything embarrassing or awkward.

Of course, the first thing she did once they were a little ways from the house was to reach down and grab a fistful of snow, before quickly pressing it into a ball and throwing it at Cameron. She didn't look to see where it had hit him before she was off running with a laugh, knowing he would immediately pay her back.

It wasn't like Cam was an early bird or anything, things had just happened that way. Being with close friends was good medicine, and he slept really well last night, better than he had in a long time actually. There was so much drama going on in his life, and this was the best thing for his health right now. And despite crossing oceans to get here, what mattered was who he was with and how they made him feel. Cam was sure to give Noah a very long, very affectionate hug before leaving with Ray.

"So what're you showing me today?" He asked, eager to try on his new snow gear as he put it on. Russia was different from America in so many ways, but already Cam could feel himself falling in love. Maybe it would never be a place he could call home, but he was already planning his next visit. Cam waved by to Alyna and pulled Ray into a side hug. "He'll be up in no time sweetheart." She had been and would always be his sweetheart, no matter what.

But she seemed to buck up pretty quick, considering Cam had a face full of snow now. "Oh! So that's how it is!" He laughed, wiping the slush off his face and reaching down for his own snowball. He wanted to make sure he hit his mark so Cam rushed Ray, laughing like a maniac as he reached past her shirt and let the snow fall down her bare back.

"I thought we could just go around town, and I could show you all the places I hung out at when I was growing up," Ravyn replied. It should be fun, a little trip down memory lane. And Cam would get to see what it was like for her in this town - people were so friendly here, much friendlier than the majority of people she ran into in America. She was sure she would see people she recognized just by walking around downtown. She smiled and bent into the hug he offered. "I know. I just don't like leaving him out," she murmured back. She was still deeply in love with Noah, and hated going out without him, but she loved Cam too, and so she knew they would have a good time anyway.

She risked a look over her shoulder as she darted away, seeing him wipe at his face. "Ahh, I didn't mean to hit your beautiful face!" she laughed. She shouldn't have looked back, though - it slowed her down, and before she knew it he was shoving snow down the back of her shirt. Ravyn shrieked, still laughing as she tried to shake it out. "Omigod, it's so cold!" she gasped, as though she couldn't remember it being so freezing the last time she had visited.

"That was a dirty trick!" She turned around and, after scooping up another fistful of snow, tackled him into a hug, returning the favor by shoving it down the collar of his shirt. "How does it feel?" she giggled, a wide grin playing across her face. Ugh, she could still feel the water dripping down her back!

Cam nodded a couple times. "I like the sound of that." It would fun to take a step in Ray's shoes, get to know more about her without any strings attached. Cam probably wouldn't notice the difference in friendliness. He had a tendency to coax the best out of people, even if they were unfriendly. He smiled a bit at her - if she needed someone to vent to about love problems, Cam would always be here. He was going through some of his own.

"It's the money maker!" He hollered, as if that would justify his following actions. "It is snow," he reasoned, followed by a shrug. What did she expect? For it to be hot? He laughed and tugged at the bottom part of her jacket so the remainder could fall out peacefully.

"The snow was clean, I swear." He said, watching her go for more snow and trying to prepare himself. Cam shrieked, patting at himself as though he were on fire. "I hate it, get 'er off!" He shouted, flapping his jacket and shirt around to get the white powder off of him. "Okay okay, truce!" Didn't she have things to show him? He jumped all over her in another hug, laughing before pushing her into the snow. It wasn't too hard, considering how light she was.

And without hesitation, he dove in gracefully after her.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Ravyn laughed as she tried to get the snow out. She hadn't meant to hit his face, really - it had just been bad (good?) luck. She rolled her eyes at him, but was grateful when he helped her get the rest out.

But of course, that didn't stop her from retaliating, an she couldn't help but laugh at his reaction. "See!" she told him, bending over from laughing so hard. His reaction was hilarious. "Let's promise to not do that to each other again, yeah?" she asked; even as she said it, she knew she might not be able to keep it. Snow was just too fun to mess around with people with.

Even as she thought that, she found him pushing her into the snow. She yelped, but thankfully landed on a nice, soft drift of the white stuff. "You jerk!" she laughed, making no move to get up; it was actually sort of comfortable, if cold.

She wrapped her arms around him as he landed next to her, pulling herself close and nuzzling him affectionately. "I love you," she told him, feeling no hesitation at saying it; it felt natural. "Thanks for coming with me," she added quietly. "I'm so glad you're here."

Cam laughed, his arms going quickly around Ravyn. "You too beautiful," he said. He meant it, although the relationship had changed, he knew he would always love her. It was the kind of thing that made people stronger. Maybe more vulnerable, but stronger at the same time. It wasn't something he was willing to give up just because they were seeing other people.

"It took a while to save up, but after Chester bought me a guitar, I only had to worry about this!" He was so excited. Standing up after a few more moments, Cam helped Ray out of the snow and began walking in the direction they had been headed, eager to see where she would bring him.

Fingers were run through his hair. Well, if he wasn't awake before, he definitely was now. "I mean, it's great to get away from the drama, you know? And I bet your mom's super excited to have you here again." He made to walk closer to her, his hands in his pockets as he glowed.

Cam always made Ravyn feel like gold, even though they weren't together romantically anymore. It was the best sort of relationship she could have asked from him, and she wouldn't change it for anything. She felt like she could talk to him about anything, and she probably would, eventually. She had several things she wanted to talk about now that they were alone.

She grinned over at him. "That was nice of him! You'll have to thank him for me, since you were able to save up to come with me. With us," she changed her mind, thinking back last night to the affection between the two blondes. Ah, they were perfect. She took his hands and pulled herself to her feet, leading him towards the center of town.

"There's the bar," she nodded at a somewhat shady-looking joint across the street. "My grandpa is actually friends with the owner, so," her eyes sparkled mischievously,"I'm sure I can get us in without a problem." She was old enough to get in, but since her boys were a little younger, she would just have to do a little convincing. It wouldn't take much - the rules weren't that strict anyway.

She nodded along with him. "I know what you mean. It's refreshing to get away from... Everything." Well, she had brought part of that drama along with her, but Noah was worth it all. "Yeah, we're really close," she added, smiling about her mom. "It was hard moving away." Deciding to change the subject, she gave Cam a gentle nudge. "So, you and Dec, huh?" she asked, grinning. "Talk about freaking adorable. How are things going?"

Cam hadn't bet on having any alone time with Ray. They had come with Noah after all, and Cam had his suspicions about those two - they would probably end up together some how, he just had a feeling.

Cam laughed, and shook his head. "I'd love to see his reaction to that one," he smiled broadly at the thought of Chester and his cheeky little grin when he did grin at all. "He's gonna come pick me up at the airport when we get back," he said proudly, as though his best friend coming to get him was something to boast about. But Cam couldn't help it, loving Chest felt as natural as loving Ray, just, different somehow.

"Woo hoo!" Cam said enthusiastically. It was how he would've reacted whether she was showing him a bar, or a pile of crap. Cam was no where near the drinking age, but when he did drink, it wasn't to get drunk, so he wouldn't be drawing any more attention to himself than usual.

"And this place is really awesome!" Cam added. It had no memories for him, and was all exploratory. Cam was always up for a little adventure. He laughed as she mentioned Dec. "It's going really well, I mean, he's probably the sweetest guy I've ever met. A little cheeky, but I guess you'd have to be to deal with me." He laughed again, almost a little forcefully. "How about you? Any new beaus I have to beat up?" He pounded his fist into his open palm, as though he were menacing.

"Oh?" Ravyn inquired about Cam mentioning Chester coming to pick him up. She shot a look his way, raising an eyebrow. She wondered why he seemed quite so enthusiastic about it. "That's nice of him. I bet he misses you a lot," she added, looping their arms together. She knew she would, if he was away from her for two weeks. "I'd like to meet him sometime," she continued thoughtfully. She had seen the redhead around, but had never really interacted with him. She heard some stuff around school about what he was like, though, and she had to admit that, if it was all true, she wasn't quite sure how he and Cam were friends. But she wasn't one to judge, and for all she knew, Chester was much nicer than rumor said.

She snickered at his response to the bar. "Their barmaids are hot too," she added as an afterthought. She wasn't one to ignore beauty, and damn, the ladies that worked there were gorgeous.

Ravyn leaned against Cam's shoulder, smiling. "I'm glad you like it so much," she told him. He hadn't even seen much yet! She listened to him talk about Dec, her smile widening. "That's awesome. Sweet guys are the best." Ah yes, it did take a little cheekiness to really have fun with Cam, she had to give that to Dec. "I'm glad you figured out that mess you were dealing with," she said, thinking back on their little heart-to-heart a while ago. Knowing him, he probably wasn't completely out of it yet, but at least he seemed to have found someone that wanted to be exclusive with him. Wasn't that what he had been looking for? She could only wonder what had happened between him and Mia - she would ask later, maybe.

Because now, he was asking about her, and she felt heat rise in her cheeks. She forced a light laugh as he punched his hand. "Uh, well, other than Noah? Um, not... Exactly. I mean, I sort of confessed to him that I was in love with him a while back," she said in a rush, ducking her head. She hadn't told Cam about that night yet. The only person she had told was... Carter. And that had led to something she had never anticipated. That was another topic completely.

It wasn't fair to Dec - Cam probably sounded more excited about Chester picking him up than getting to see his boyfriend again. It wasn't like there was anything wrong with Dec, he was absolutely perfect. So what was Cam's problem? "Chester?" Cam asked, tightening his grip on Ray as they walked. Chester wasn't really one for large crowds, at least, not at Hammel. Chester was his best friend and hardly anyone knew him, save for Tak, and that was a long story. Cam only saw Chester the brightest of lights, especially after the cad had saved his life.

"Hot bar maids? Sign me up!" Now that was just tricking the poor boy.

"Yeah." That was all he had to say about Declyn. Cam just didn't want to deal with the face that he was lying to himself, not when he had the best of friends and a great boyfriend. He even had a new guitar, and, damn, what was his problem? He was just trying to get over the fact that Chester didn't like him as more than a friend, so, why wasn't it working? "I just, I dunno, he's completely honest with me and doesn't dance around topics. That's my favorite part about him, other than how hot he is." Cam laughed at himself. Stay goofy, don't cause a fuss.

"Heard about that," he said honestly. Noah and Cam talked a lot, as far as friends went. It was good to have a soundboard for things other than music. Cam glanced at her and smiled knowingly. "You still love him don't you?" It was easy to see, because Cam knew the symptoms of someone not loving you back. But you couldn't just stop loving them, no matter what else life gave you, no matter how great...

Ravyn nodded. "Yeah. I've only heard about him from a couple other people, and, ah, not all of it was good." She had always wanted to make her own opinions of people, rather than letting what other people told her shape how she felt about someone. And if Cam liked him, well, she felt that she would too. Right?

She felt a slight hesitation about Cam's reply about Dec, and she wondered why. Could it have something to do with the light she had seen in his eyes when he talked about Chester? She wondered if that would be a subject he was willing to talk about. After all, she remembered Cam saying something about a telepath... And hadn't she heard that Chester was one? "That's definitely good," she agreed about Dec. "I hate people playing games, you know? It just makes things hard and more complicated." She snickered quietly. "Yep, definitely hot. You better keep an eye on him, or I might just swoop in and steal him for myself." She bumped him gently; obviously, she was teasing.

"Oh, he told you?" she replied quietly. She should have known; she knew they hung out quite a bit. She nodded, swinging her arm by her side. "Completely. I don't know what I would do without him." Ah yes, the pain of unrequited love was one of the worst. Cam could definitely understand that. "I'm not sure what to do about it either. I mean, I don't want to chase him away by bringing it up again, you know? But at the same time, I can't just ignore how I feel." And she was feeling guilty, too, because even though she knew she was in love with Noah, that hadn't stopped her from.... Losing her virginity to Carter. "Um, do you know Carter Chevalier?" she asked, her grip on Cam's arm tightening. She had to tell someone about it, and who better to tell?

Cam was willing to defend Chester to the ends of the earth. "He's a good guy, but don't tell him I told you that." Seems like everyone was worried about keeping up appearances these days, even Cam. You couldn't be someone you weren't, but Cam had a hard time being serious with people. Especially when he had feelings for them that would never be returned. Hence moving on, but that wasn't going so well for him, was it?

It wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Cameron liked Chester a lot, and there was a love deeply rooted between them. And Rayvn already had a few of the pieces to the puzzle, she wasn't very far from figuring out that Chester was the guy Cam had been talking about before, not Dec or anyone else. "That's why I usually go with my gut, but sometimes that ends up playing tricks on me too." Declyn wasn't a bad guy, and Cameron really did like him, but what about Chester? Could he really get over him? Was there anything to even get over when they hadn't even been together in the first place? Cam laughed. "Do you need another snow wash?" He asked in a warning voice. As open as Cam was, he knew when someone wanted to cheat, and that wasn't an option in an exclusive relationship.

"Yeah," Cam said softly, because it wasn't a big deal, and it wasn't gossip, considering the topic was about Noah, and Noah was the one talking. "Sounds familiar," Cam said with a gentle smile. Life just wasn't fair sometimes, but Cam wasn't going to lay down and die because things didn't go his way. Maybe it wan't the best way to take anyways. Cam nodded understandingly. "You can't really ignore how you feel when its staring you in the face."

"'course I do!" Cam said with a laugh, his hand running over his hair again at the thought of the other blonde. "We hooked up before Dec and I got together," he explained, smirking at her. That little hint of worry in her eyes made Cam's smile broader. "You didn't!" He said, wondering if he was right about his assumption. Had she slept with Carter? Huh, and to think, she had broken up with him because he was too dangerous. Cam smiled smugly, waiting for an answer.

Ravyn smiled lightly back at Cameron. "My lips are sealed," she assured him. She wondered why Chester wouldn't appreciate being called a good guy. It made her all the more curious. She was going to have to meet the redhead.

"Nothing makes sense in love and relationships," she concluded with a small sigh. They were both sort of hopeless romantics at heart, it was no surprise that they both shared their troubles as well. "That's why I've really been looking forward to this trip. Coming home always seems to make my head clearer." She offered him a smile. "Maybe it will help for you too." It wasn't home for him, but being in such foreign territory could be an eye-opener as well. "Nooo not that!" she laughed, pretending to flinch at his warning. "I'll stay away from him, promise." Although, she did think it would be fun to actually get to meet Dec. He seemed like a nice guy. She could use more nice friends.

Ravyn kicked at a rock in the snow, watching it skitter into the road. She nodded at what he was saying, staying silent. This was a familiar conversation. "You can't," she agreed. "But it's not like I can stay away from him. Or that I would want to. And I mean, he's happy seeing Valerie, so I should be happy for him, right?" And she was, to a point, but that didn't help her aching heart any more.

She should've known Cam knew Carter. She didn't anticipate, however, that they had hooked up before. Her eyes widened slightly. "You did?" she asked, feeling the tiniest bit of humor at the situation. What was that saying - sleeping with someone was like sleeping with everyone else they had had sex with? Or something? Oh goodness. His exclamation made her flinch, and she kept her gaze directed at the ground, feeling her cheeks heat up more even in the cold air. "I met him a while back, and, well, he kissed me only after talking for just a little while," she admitted. "For some reason... He was really easy for me to talk to. And so I went and saw him after the whole thing with Noah, and he listened to everything, and then he kissed me again and took me to his room to show me a drawing he had made for my birthday and..." She lifted her gloved hands up to her face, running them through her hair. "And... Well, it happened." It had been such a rash, unlikely move on her part, and looking back, she still didn't know what had gotten into her. She turned her wide eyes back to Cameron. "Am I a bad person?" she murmured. She didn't regret it, not really, but she still couldn't understand what had made her want to do it.

"Nothing makes sense in love and relationships?" He repeated back to her. "Well people in relationships must be insane then." Cam smiled and nodded. "Yeah, can't wait to see my dad again," Cam said with a thin lipped smile. He hadn't seen his dad in a while, flights weren't cheap even between states, and Cam hadn't mentioned it to Chester because Cam didn't want his best friend to feel like all he was good for as providing money. So Cam would wait, save, or better yet, if Chester thought of it all by himself, then they could both go visit Jean. Cam smiled at the thought.

"You should be," he sighed, "but you probably aren't." Cam knew the feeling all too well. It was so easy to read on Ray's face. And it looked strangely familiar, like he had seen it on someone else's face before, other than his own. Cam was a romantic, sometimes, but mostly he was brutally honest.

"Duh, he's gorgeous," Cam said with a slight nod. Carter slept around about as much as he did before Dec became serious about things. Cam began to laugh light heartedly before she even spoke again. He knew what was coming, and it definitely wasn't him. Cam listened and wrapped an arm around her waist protectively. "You? A bad person? I don't think that's possible," he said, leaning over and kissing the top of her head. "Look, just because you sleep with someone doesn't mean you love them." At least, that's how he saw it. "Musta been some painting, what, were you naked in it or something?" The string of events didn't make sense in his head, but he didn't think it was a big deal. If it was, she should probably let him know.

"He's pretty good right?" Cam asked with a smirk.

"Love can make people sort of insane," Ravyn quipped. Was she insane? Maybe. "That'll be nice," she nodded about his dad. Sure, she was technically an adult, but that didn't make her miss her mom and grandparents any less. And she wasn't ashamed to admit it. She hoped he'd get to visit his dad soon. She also hoped she wouldn't be seeing hers while they were here.

"I mean, I'm happy he's happy, but..." Ravyn shrugged helplessly. "I can't help but wish it was me." She felt selfish, but at least she was being honest.

"He is," she agreed quietly; there was no arguing there. Her first glimpse of Carter, she had thought he was beautiful. His laughter made a small smile cross her face; rather than being upset about Cam's amusement, she found it somehow uplifting. His embrace and reassurance helped with that, too. "I know," she replied quietly. "I just don't know what got into me. I mean, I basically spilled my heart out to him about Noah. I guess I just wanted to feel... Wanted. And he was pretty open about it." Not to mention that he was, as they had said, gorgeous, and she had a serious weakness for pretty faces. She snorted, shaking her head. "No. I just was surprised that he had gone to the trouble of making it." Maybe it wasn't as big of a deal as she thought it was. Cam didn't seem to think so, and his opinion meant a lot.

His last comment had her flushing even more, and she shot a look at him before looking at the ground again. "U-um, I, yeah," she stammered. "I mean, I don't really have anything to compare to, do I?" She hesitated, then added,"We kinda, um, did it on his desk so my wings wouldn't get in the way." She pressed her lips together, hunching her shoulders in embarrassment.
