The Basics
Name: Harmony Sky Muller-Barton
Nicknames: Although she’s not too fond of the name her mother gave her, she has yet to come up with a good nickname for herself.
Age: 15
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Teleportation – Harmony has the ability to teleport from one place to another. For the most part she can only travel a within thirty feet of where she was originally standing. She has to be able to see where she is going, so teleporting through doors or walls is difficult and takes a great deal of concentration. The only exception to this is when she is experiencing an extreme emotion (usually fear). Then she is able to teleport greater distances, but even then the farthest she has ever traveled was a few miles. It still has to be a place she has been before and can picture in her mind.
With short distances, Harmony tends to get dizzy, has headaches, and feels sick to her stomach, similar to car sickness. The more often she uses her ability the sicker she feels. She also often misjudges where she is trying to go. For example, she might be trying to teleport next to a door and actually slam into the door with her body. Or she might end up in midair and fall to the ground. The few times she has traveled greater distances, she passed out from the exertion.

The Details
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Any Piercings? Her left ear is pierced in the cartilage
Any Tattoos? None
Any Scars? Nothing major.
General Appearance: Harmony prefers to wear loose fitting track pants or jeans, since she’s had her fair share of sun dresses when she was little. She usually has on a brightly colored tank-top. She’s not really one for t-shirts with funny quotes or band names on them. Harmony is usually the last person to start wearing long sleeves. She prefers to feel the sun on her skin. But on really cold days, she brings along her favorite light blue hoodie that she’s had for years. It’s got a few stains and small holes, but she can’t stand to just toss it out.
Her blond hair is almost always in pigtails or a pony tail because she likes to keep it out of the way. And most days she wears a brightly colored visor as well, sometimes backwards if she’s feeling goofy. Although she prefers tomboy-ish clothes for the most part, that does not mean she never wears dresses or make-up. On occasion, she feels like looking special, she’ll put on a skirt or dress but never one covered in pink flowers.
Harmony is fairly skinny and very fit. She enjoys long distance running and dancing. Those activities have developed her muscles and given her great endurance. She is a tad short for her age, but not so much that she feels like a munchkin.
Personality: Harmony has a real problem with authority or anyone who tries to tell her what to do, even if it’s something minor. She feels like she’s old enough to have her own way for her life. Although she’s small, she never backs down from an argument, or even a physical fight. In fact, she rather enjoys voicing her opinion. She’s not great at coming up with snappy come-back and tends to use “Yeah? So what?” a lot instead. A lot of the times she doesn’t realize she’s in way over her head until it’s too late. So sometimes she gets herself into a bit of a sticky situation because she won’t back down.
Although deep down Harmony really loves and cares for her parents, you’d never know it from the way she acts. She actually hates herself for loving them because she feels like they ruined her life. And she goes out of her way to make sure they know it. But when times are tough, she still really wants a hug from them, even though it kills her to say it.
Her mother and father were hippies back in the day and Harmony. They insisted that Harmony spend a great day of time in nature and learn to appreciate it. Her mother also forced her to wear a lot of homemade clothes and engage in a lot of crafty activities. Although Harmony could identify every tree, find edible plants, or hand sew a pair of corduroy pants she refuses to do any of those because she was forced to for so long. As she has grown older, she maintains that anything someone else wants to make her do cannot be fun.
Harmony would probably do fairly well in school if she would apply herself. But to her school work falls under the whole “people forcing her to do something” rule. So she avoids it at all cost, even though she is pretty intelligent.

History
Harmony’s parents fell in love at a folk music festival. Together, they decided to leave the world of business, cities, and materialism. A few short years after joining a hippie community in California, they had Harmony. Although they were married, Helene kept her maiden name, resulting in Harmony’s hyphenated last name.
As a young child, Harmony quickly began to resent the life her parents had set up for her. Because she was homeschooled by her mother, she felt like she had no friends. She wanted to live in the city, surrounded by the noise of television, vehicles, and the like. There were a few other children around, but she thought they were all idiots for automatically subscribing to hippie lifestyles. Harmony wanted more.
When Harmony was eight, her parents divorced. Her father left for the city. And shortly after, her mother moved across the US to Washington D.C.. Although Helene remained a very free spirit in many ways, she re-entered the business world and got a job as a diplomatic assistant. Harmony was spend the summers with her father, until he remarried when she was ten. After that she chose to stay in D.C..
Since her mother was always traveling or busy at the office, Harmony spent a good deal of time raising herself. Although her mother employed a nanny, Harmony’s argumentative nature caused them to move on after a while. As for her free time, Harmony spent as much time as she could on the streets, soaking up city life. She never got into drugs or alcohol, but she knew more than a few older kids who did. It was during this time that Harmony discovered that she had a great talent for breakdancing. She spent a lot of time chilling with her friends on street corners, dancing for tips, and arguing with others her age who walked by.
Harmony’s mother felt like she was loosing her baby girl. Not that she wanted to get rid of her, but she felt like Harmony needed a more stable environment. So while Harmony was out on the street, her mother researched various boarding school, or called up relatives. She considered her brother, Josef, as an option but not for very long. She had never really approved of his lifestyle choices.
One evening when Harmony was twelve, a few older teenage boys started picking on one of her friends. When Harmony joined in the argument, the boys pointed out that the street corner they were on was their territory. Therefore any tips her and her friends had made that night were the boys. The argument got physical, and Harmony quickly realized she was in over her head. She ran down an alley only to meet a dead end. Panicking, she hid between two trashcans, wishing will all her mind that she was back at her house with her mother. And then suddenly she was.
Her mother, who knew a little about meta powers because of her brother, was not surprised when a Hammel official showed up hours later. She spent the following afternoon on the phone with her brother. Although she wasn’t happy about having only her brother around to keep an eye on her daughter, she realized that sending Harmony to Hammel would solve her problems about what to do with her daughter.
Although Harmony is glad to be getting out from under her mother and a little excited about her ability. She’s also interested to know her uncle better. But she is also a little upset by the fact her new life will be in the middle of nowhere in Vermont. And although she hates herself for thinking it, she is a little nervous about leaving her mother behind.
Roleplay Example

As usual, Harmony’s argumentative nature had gotten her in way over her head. With two older boys chasing her for talking back to them, she ducked into an alley. Which of course was more of a dead end than an alley way. Idiot, Harmony thought to herself as she crouched between some trashcans. If the boys hadn’t been so huge, Harmony would have probably tried to take them on. She liked to believe that she would be able to hold her own in a physical fight. Maybe if there was just one of ‘em. Stupid punks.
The boys came into Harmony’s view. Holding her breath, she scooted back against the wall. I wish I was home, she thought and immediately hated herself for thinking it. But as the boys came closer she repeated it again. And again.
And then suddenly she was sitting in the middle of the living room. Her mother was sitting on the couch. She jumped when Harmony appeared, almost knocking off the laptop that was sitting on her lap. “Harmony?” she asked. “How?”
Harmony jumped to her feet, not wanting her mother to notice how scared she was. The room seemed to be spinning slightly, like she’d just gotten off a rollercoaster. “How the heck and I’m supposed to know? I was out…with my friend. And now I’m here. I didn’t do anything.” She was yelling by this point. She felt like she might cry, because of how angry she was. But she wouldn’t let her mother see her like that. She turned to stomp off toward her room.
“Harmony…wait?” her mother called, taking a step towards her.
Harmony whirled around, about to shout for her mother to leave her alone. Instead the queasy feeling that had been building since she arrived home started to overcome her. Clutching her stomach, she fell to her knees. “Mom,” she managed to call out before she fainted.
