Sean removed his hand from Josh’s shoulder, only to wrap both arms around his partner in a gentle embrace. “You’re welcome,” he replied, breath warm against the younger man’s ear. He had heard Josh’s thoughts, and he wanted his partner to know that this wasn’t much of a sacrifice. “This is what families do for each other.
As he always reminded the attorney, they were a family. The two of them together, and now with Bailey.
“She is,” the telepath confirmed with a nod. Sean had brought her home with him when he had returned after work; for their schedules, it was easier for her to hang out at Hammel after school and start on her homework or spend time with other children, and then for the telepath to drive them both home. That way she had supervision and didn’t have to cope with bus transportation.
“And supper should fit the dietary restrictions: salad with grilled chicken and wild rice.”
The telepath was very good about incorporating vegetables and other healthy food into their meals. This was one of the reasons why he was sure that Josh would find a way to cope with the dietary restrictions and not notice too great a chance in their home life.
“You go upstairs and change, and then bring Bailey downstairs. I’ll finish with what I was doing and then I’ll open up a bottle of white wine.”
Wine was a lighter, healthier choice than beer or hard liquor. It was also an alternative to tea, one that Sean believed Josh would prefer tonight, since his partner actually enjoyed drinking wine. Additionally, they both tended to have water to chase when they drank wine, and the water would be good for Josh’s intake as well.
