Lani laughed. “Of course! I need to get a little bit more practice in but you,” he pointed at her with a grin, “are getting the first ride.” That was a promise he was making her, she was still important to him and he needed her to know that. Odion might get angry but that was honestly a risk that Lani was willing to take. Odion had stolen most of his heart, but that didn’t mean that his heart wasn’t shared. Shapiro was just as important to him as Caroline , Odion or Adrianna. Though Adrianna was up in the air, it didn’t matter how much he cared if she was still furious with him. He sighed at the thought, that would have to wait and be seen in California.
Shapiro could roll her eyes as much as she wanted and it was not going to change Lani’s mind. He burst out in laughter, how many times had he been called a mother hen? Well, so long as no one else knew then his reputation was still sound. He reached out to ruffle her hair and smiled teasingly at her. “You need to stop growing,” he commented his brow coming together as he stood there and measured her height by himself. If she reached his height he was going to eat his shoes! He’d just barely beaten his father and Caroline was looking like she might be more around their mother’s height. Shapiro, though, he didn’t know how tall she might get. So long as she kept having to hop to reach his head, he was find with that.
Lani was endlessly glad that Shapiro hadn’t blamed Odion for being the reason he was busy, in all honesty, he was busy. Granted he did spend most of his spare time with the redhead but they had their own lives and their own friends. Lani’s friends just tended to have preconceived opinions of Odion. Shapiro was definitely the worst, because he just knew she was the kind of person to pick a fight and Odion being Odion would raise to the challenge, or ignore her which he knew would get under her skin. He very well may have to separate them. He sighed a little to himself. They were talking about Shapiro dating an ex-con now, that was completely different. And something Lani wanted to put a stop to before it began.
Opening his mouth to protest Lani realized she wasn’t actually wrong. Instead he closed his mouth and gave her an impish grin. Oh if only she knew. She’d probably beat him to a pulp. Maybe he’d tell her when she was older. “No, no, it would be a double standard if Odion really was an ex-con.” Lani laughed despite himself and found his hand on his forehead. “I’m not going to lie to you Shapiro, if you start dating an ex-con I’ll kill him.” He smiled pleasantly and ruffled her hair. “But Odion’s not so bad, you should give him a chance.” It was his fault that Shapiro didn’t like him, if he hadn’t been so far down in his hole then he never would have said anything to her.
