It had been awhile since Sammy had a proper movie night with popcorn and cotton candy and gummy bears and nachos and soda and - [the list goes on] but tonight, that streak is going to end.

The best part of tonight would probably be the company.

Sammy had had a crush on Callie Gallo since they bumped into each other those few years ago. The other blonde was just so bubbly and sweet and everything about her was just so infectious. You can't be mad when you were around her. And half the reason why Sammy was always calm was because she kept thinking that Callie was with her.

Not that the dancer would ever know. No way. Sammy would never tell a soul about it. It was a good thing she was a very guarded person and she had learned a while ago to put up walls so no telepath would ever be able to get through her mind.

Of course, she always suspected that some of them knew. They just didn't give two craps about it.

Either way, Sammy was glad she got to spend time with the younger blonde, that she even wanted to spend time with Sammy. It would be rather distracting though but that was just a small price to pay, clearly.

She had texted Callie earlier to let her know that she was already in the lounge. Thankfully nobody else seemed all that interest in the TV so Sammy occupied the whole area.

Sammy started munching on the huge bowl of butter popcorn as she waited for the tall blonde to come over.

Was Callie aware that Sammy had a crush on her? Nope. She was too busy handling the people who were actually professing feelings for her to notice that the quieter ones at her side might have been holding onto something too. So yeah, Callie was caught between a rock named Lucah and a hard place called Penelope. And a night away from that and its drama seemed perfect.

Once she got the text, Callie bailed outta her room as quickly as possible. She was excited to see Sammy again. There was something about the older blonde that made her feel happy. Safe, even. Because the world had to go back to being drama-free at some point.

And to Callie, she was an anchor for that.

So she made her way into the student lounge, feeling pretty glad that it was empty. Not that she minded more company, but sometimes even she wasn't up for so much social interaction. "Hey, you." She greeted, leaning over the back of the couch and squeezing her shoulders lightly. "It's empty in here, huh." She looked around again before her eyes caught sight of everything food related on offer; "Talk about a perfect set up. You went all out!"

Sammy was already envisioning the night ahead of them, all the cuddling and all the free stares she was allowed and all the touching. It was going to be a really good night. She laughed at how creepy-stalker-vibe her head space was in.

Ironic that.

Not that she was actually going to be a creepy stalker or would she ever give off that vibe but as creepy as it sounded, there was an innocence to it that even Sammy didn't account for.

So lost was Sammy in thought that she jumped slightly when her shoulder was squeezed. Looking up, her smile brightened at the sight of Callie's perpetually sunny exterior. The other blonde's surprise at the food made Sammy laugh and nod, not in the least bit ashamed at her bingeing.

"I really did. I figured what with finals coming, we should just pig out and have a snack hangover that we won't soon forget." She chuckled and patted the seat beside her. "I've got like a whole set of genres for you to choose from. I've got horror, comedy, musicals, psychological thrillers, dramas and romance." Sammy leaned forward to grab at the DVDs she had brought with her and waved it at Callie.

"I would have added action but there wasn't anything in my pile that I wanted to watch again. Hope that's cool."

Once she was finished letting her eyes scan the table, Callie wandered around the line of the couch to finally flop down on the place where Sammy indicated. At the list of different genres, Callie wanted to be complacent and relatively uncaring. But horror. And thrillers. Yikes.

"Definitely nothing scary, okay? I've never been good with scary movies." She admitted, knowing how embarrassing that could have sounded. "Unless you want me hiding my eyes and clinging to you for the whole thing." She added quickly, laughing afterwards. Because she totally didn't want that to happen. So really, Callie's admission was doing her a favour.

No, she needed a little happy to brighten her dim mood. "So pick something happy. Like comedy. Oooor romance. Y'know, where things work out in the end and no body dies. Well, no body essential to the story anyway." Because someone almost always died in good movies.

She idly ran a hand through her long hair, leaning back against the couch and trying to find a place of comfort. "Thanks for inviting me, by the way. I figured you mostly just did this by yourself."

"I'll totally protect you." Sammy chuckled, even though her heart was beating rather quickly against her ribcage. Like that's such a hassle for the blonde pyro.

The dancer's choice made Sammy smile and nod. She didn't mind either way, she was clearly just happy being around Callie. They could be watching a documentary about yarn stitching and Sammy would be jumping for joy.

She sifted through the DVDs and found a perfect movie they would both enjoy. Sammy had watched it a million times already and she still enjoyed it every single time.

"Get your lungs ready, we're gonna remix this business." Sammy popped the DVD into the player, shaking her head at her own corniness.

Practically flying back on to the couch, immediately leaning close against Callie, she pressed the play button on the remote control and followed the acapella version of the Universal Studios theme song.

"I bet that'd be a fun night for you." Callie teased, knowing she could be a little overbearing when she was scared. That's obliviousness for you.

Callie watched as she moved away briefly, long enough to drop the DVD in and come back again. She was glad that when she came back, she ended up sitting a little closer. She was also glad Sammy didn't seem to mind how clingy she was with her friends. Well, some would call it clingy. She'd just call it friendship.

So instinctively she huddled closer, leaning against her for some kind of comfort. "Hey, if I fall asleep or something like that, I'm really sorry." Because it happened. Especially if she was comfortable.

"Bet it would." She mumbled before grinning at Callie's attempt at a tease. If only the other blonde knew.

As the younger meta sidled closer, Sammy let out a soft sigh, moving her arms so Callie was practically lying on top of her. Next came the dilemma of where to place her hand.

The movie was progressing nicely as Sammy looked for a good place to put her hands without seeming like she was taking advantage of the situation.

She was distracted enough with her task at hand that she just gave a half-heartedly laugh before snapping out of her own head. "Huh? Oh no of course not. I'd just tickle you awake. You can't sleep during Pitch Perfect! It's awesome!" Sammy defended her recent favourite movie.

It was probably stupid how oblivious Callie was to the things going on around her. If she ever found out, she'd certainly feel that way. But for now she was just comfortable in the moment. Not thinking about the possibility of losing everything due to her inability to make choices.

"Nooo, don't do that." Callie whined, pursing her lips at the thought of being tickled. She felt her eyelids getting heavy but this blonde was determined to keep herself awake. "It is awesome."

The urge to talk more was burning at her throat, but she didn't want to be that person. What if she ruined movie night? She'd never be invited back again, or something like that.

Sammy giggled when Callie started whining. She stopped, of course, and laid her hand near Callie's hip, trying very hard not to blush at how intimate their position was.

If Sammy had known Callie thought anything she did could ever jeopardise their little get-together, she would probably just confess the fact that nothing short of murder could ever make Sammy not invite Callie over for anything.

Mumbling the words she had memorised to the movie, Sammy laughed at the appropriate times and some very inappropriate times too. The show was just so good okay?

While watching, she kept on snacking, feeding some food to Callie but most of the time, the food just went straight into her mouth.

She wasn't sure if Callie was still awake but the climax to the movie was fast approaching and Sammy was already starting to sing pretty loudly.

There was actually something comforting about the small way Sammy muttered the sentences to herself. It made her body rumble with the small manifestation of each word. And at some point that fact worked its magic, and the younger girl felt her eyes close heavily for the last time.

She jolted awake again right towards the end when Sammy was practically belting the tunes out. Callie tried to downplay the sudden jump as much as possible, but she swapped quick looks between the TV and her friend. Oh, it was already almost finished? Well dammit, did that make her a bad friend?

"I'm totally awake." She pointed out quietly, unaware that it was the most obvious lie in history of the world. But she thought her friend really shouldn't mind so much. Right? Moving to sit up, Callie idly took hold of the other girl's hand in her own and - because why the hell not - she started singing along too. She really had to finish this thing with some kind of effort.

Sammy paused mid-singing when Callie jerked awake. The older blonde bit her lower lip to stop herself from laughing. Callie's little lie didn't help matters either.

Although the moment the younger blonde's fingers slipped through hers, Sammy's laughter caught in her throat and she could feel her heart beating faster than normal.

Oh God...don't react. Please don't react. Oh jeez, I'm so lucky I'm not a boy right now. Oh God, don't react.

The pyro hoped Callie didn't notice the little panic attack that had ensued. Sammy forced herself to start singing again.

Maybe it was definitely a bad idea for Sammy to have invited Callie over for movie night. And not even for the reasons Callie seemed to think.

The movie was finally ending and Sammy had finished a whole bowl of popcorn herself and was now trying to occupy her free hand while the other was clamped in Callie's.

"So uh," Sammy cleared her throat when her voice broke a little. "You wanna continue with another movie or should we call it a night?"

Callie - as usual - remained blissfully unaware to Sammy's mental freak out. Either she was too tired or too engrossed in the moment to understand what was going on, or she really was as naive as everyone said.

But with the movie winding down and the credits trailing across the screen, Callie stretched her free arm up over her head and rolled her shoulders back a few times. She wasn't even sure why, given the fact that her muscles rarely got sore or tight. It was a normal-person habit. Yeah, that.

"How many do you normally watch before you fall asleep here?" Callie asked, pressing her lips together to stop herself from laughing. "If you invite me again, we should just watch movies in your room. Or mine. Oh, but then I'd definitely fall asleep." She looked perplexed at her own train of thought, feeling a little bad for getting so caught up in it.

And inviting herself to things she probably wasn't invited too. Whoops.

"Hey, can I stay with you tonight?"

Callie's question brought a little downturn of her eyebrow as she thought about it. "Well, I don't really fall asleep here during mov-" Sammy started answering before Callie continue with her statement.

Either this girl was just too oblivious or she's completely cruel. Either way, Sammy's heart palpitations were giving her a really hard time concentrating on what she should be replying to Callie.

And it didn't help matters at all when Callie asked if she could stay with her. Sammy hadn't had a sleepover with a girl she had feelings for. Ever. And this was Callie. Callie was actually asking if she could stay with her. What exactly is air?

"Uh..." Sammy squeaked before clearing her throat. "Um, sure." She answered, already deciding that Callie was going to sleep on the bed and she was sleeping on the floor. No way was she going to shared a bed with someone she was crazily attracted to.

"Do you wanna go...now?"

In Callie's mind, it was an innocent question. Of course it was. They were friends, right? They could totally share a bed or whatever and it wouldn't be weird. At least, that's where her mind was at when she asked. Maybe in years if they were still friends and she was a little wiser, she'd look back on this moment and apologise until her voice blew out.

Her awkward response caused a brief flash of worry in the other blonde's bright blue eyes. Maybe that was a bad thing to ask? Come to think of it, she'd never asked her before. But she didn't even think she might be uncomfortable with it. She idly took her hand back; "Sorry, should I not have asked? I don't mind either way." She pointed out, the twinge of a lie evident in her tone.

She did mind a little.

"Yeah, sure." Callie replied, glancing back at the TV briefly; "Unless you want to hang out and watch something else instead?"

Sammy immediately recognised the pulling back and she quickly reassured Callie that it was fine by grabbing her hand once more. "No! No...I mean of course it's okay! Just...surprised is all. Haven't had a visitor come over. So all flustered." Sammy forced a nervous laugh as she patted Callie's hand. More than she should have.

The pyro took a few shallow breaths and forced herself to calm down, lest she burn the couch in her little spastic moment. Along with the blonde she had an insane crush on.

Using a joke as her defense, Sammy gave the younger blonde a cheeky grin. "And have you sleep on me again? Might as well just get back to my room now." She ruffled Callie's hair and patted her shoulder.

"Come on. Let's go. And bring the snacks." She added the last bit as an afterthought.
