Evony kept her eyes solely on her feet, not daring to look around anymore for fear of Lucy catching her gaze and burning her with the angry glare. Everything she said was tossed right back at her, only much more viciously and merciless. The brown eyed beauty clearly wasn't the sort to soften her blows and the thief flinched at every snapping consonant that burst out of the Australian's rapidly firing mouth. Was there any point arguing with this girl? The answer was obvious and Evony could not grasp how iron willed the tattooed girl was.
The Blue Bird tried her best to ignore the toxic vitriol and force her mind to return to the original objective, Kimmy's honour...but it was becoming increasingly harder the more and more Lucy relented. Every word was a bitter knife which slashed deeper and deeper and it was only until she caught the slightest whisper did her heart drop.
I'm not happy.
The statement caught her off guard, practically joking any possible rebuttal that lingered in her throat. A numbness washed over her and the girl felt the sickly hollow feeling swell up even more in the pit of her stomach. What could she say to that? Did she not try her best to keep this beautiful and dangerous girl happy?
It was a smack in the face and Evy's mouth hung limp, her breathing short, shallow and tormented. A throbbing guilt quickly wracked her mind and the girl clutched her body tight, hoping to wrong out the chill that had descended on her.
The revival of an old sin only sparking the anguished turmoil deep within.
"I thought...I thought we had passed that..." Her voice was little more than a whisper, any louder and she was certain her throat would force a sob or two. "I can't see her hurt like that Lucy. Not like what happened yesterday..." The girl admitted feebly, holding onto the last stronghold that remained in her mind. Kimmy deserved more than that, she was an innocent party...thrust into maelstrom that was this thing Evony and Lucy shared.
