They had to roll their eyes. Well, at least Temperance did. Charity was already bored enough to the point of not listening anymore and only paying attention through her sister. "The mere fact that you have to explain your intentions indicates your lack of confidence."
"Shush, Tempy," Charity said distractedly. "She's just trying to convince herself". But it didn't matter anymore to her anyway. This whole exchange had lost it's freshness and grown dull rather quickly. Especially when up against this wanna-be vigilante who had to have an answer for everything…and not very good ones at that.
"And that's the difference between you and us, dearie. We're well aware of our performance and bask in it. You…are merely a self-righteous hypocrite."
The accusation that the girls got little attention at home nearly made Charity laugh, however. "We get more at home than you can even dream of having in a lifetime." It was true. They were doted on and spoiled rotten by a couple of fathers who frequently turned a blind eye to their mischief. In their eyes, the twins were perfect little angels who could do no wrong.
Charity smiled, smug and secure in that knowledge.
As she had said before, the savior of the little monster was free to leave. However, they did nothing as her pet stood to follow her like the spineless, stupidly loyal puppy she was. They would let them go without another word. Yet, upon hearing the blonde's final words as she spoke them back to the girls, they only smiled. She was quite the adversary. And one who always had to have the last word to feed her own ego. Charity didn't care. Temperance just snickered. They would back down from this graciously, like the proper ladies they were. Battles weren't always won by fighting back, after all.
