Oriel had done more than his fair share of walking backwards. So very often, especially laity, he'd thought he'd made progress, and then something happened and he felt like he was back at square one. For Tak, he imagined it must have felt the same when she got pregnant. Oriel grinned. "Well, lately it's more like I'm running backwards, I think I've lapped a few losers in that direction." Again, making jokes, but not really saying exactly what it was he meant.
His smile became a tad distant when she spoke of the two, Oriel and Phoenix, helping each other. "Yeah…." his voice had gone soft. "I…I don't think he even knows how much he's helped me." The real Phoenix, the one not zoned out on drugs, was so innocent and childish. Impulsive sometimes, a joy to please, a pleasure to see smile. They suited each other, like several others had said, in that Phoenix needed someone to take care of him and Oriel needed someone to take care of. It wasn't a perfect relationship, it was far from actually, but they were happy.
"What can I say? I see something I like, I got to tag it, one way or another." Shameless to a fault, Oriel was. And he didn't plat on changing that anytime soon. "Moi? Beg!? Do I look like the begging type?" He giggled evilly, remembering the sight of Phoenix doing just that. "Yeah, actually, I'm on my way back up to our room, if you'd like to meet him." They technically had separate rooms and dorms even, but Phen practically lived with Oriel these days, barely spending any measure of time in his own assigned room. "Just give me one sec." He quickly ran back to the vending machine and finished his business there before returning to Tak and holding out his arm for her to take. "My Lady?" Oriel flashed a gentlemanly smile.
