I Can't Understand You! (Walther)

"Woah... That must have been really scary! He didn't know about Hammel, but at least when he was recruited, there was a cause for it, a cause he could understand. He made sounds, he manipulated sonic energy. At least then, he could get that he had to be brought to some place to harness his powers, to belong. At the end of the day, that really, truly, made total sense to him.

But he could never imagine if he just did it on accident. If he rumbled his bed a little bit in his sleep, if he had a soft harp in the background subconsciously. He would never be able to /imagine/ just the sheer terror of someone tracking him down, and scooping him up because of that. He almost felt sorry for Iggy, in a way. What a terrible way to be enrolled.

"Well." Walther paused, considering what he'd say next with some degree of care, even though he didn't plan on touching base on anything offensive. Really, what did he have to follow that up with? "Were you scared..?"

Iggy shrugged. His father was a meta too, so it there was a chance that he and his brother would be. "I think I was more excited. It was a little scary moving away at first." There was always something scary in the idea of leaving home and having powers. Still, he'd come to enjoy his school life here. So many different people, and having different powers added to the uniqueness.

"I don't think there is much to worry about here." He gave the 'Walter' a smile. "It's a nice place once used to it." Sure there were some grumps, and people who didn't want to be there, but there were plenty of nice friendly people to balance that out.

The Deaf shifted his position on the cushion. "You said people were in your room too. Are you in a boy or both dorm?" Having a girl or two in the same dorm would seem a bit uncomfortable for someone just moved in. Iggy didn't mind sharing with two other boys. He was curious about which dorm 'Walter' was in because maybe later in the year, he would drop in and see how he was doing. He seemed like a nice kid after all.

"I am in a boy dorm, I'm glad... There are already girls being bullies to me." Maybe Iggy had a good outlook on this. It was worth being excited. He was already sort of coming out of his own grumpiness towards to prospect. Now that he was here, he was seeing a whole lot of diversity. Boys and girls, all with things in common. It'd definitely be worth giving the school a shot, the more he thought on his initial excitement.

"Thank you." Walther replied, with a genuine, true smile. "I was way too scared. Still am a little." Validation from someone older than him but still not an adult was exactly what he needed to hear since he arrived here. Of course the adults would try to sell it as a perfect haven. And he had every reason in the world to doubt them.

"My dorm issss. Five-zero-two." His roommates were people he didn't really know yet, but they definitely had to be a lot better than sharing with girls. Especially for a boy his age. He'd have loved if he was sharing with Iggy. He'd be the perfect roommate! Nice, respectful... Not a jerk... Well, those were all just synonymous, but the fact still stood. "Maybe you come visit..?"

Iggy smiled. They were on the same floor, so they could even see each other in the hallway. Of course the fact that he read from 'Walter's' lips that there were already a few girls picking on him was not so nice to learn. Iggy never really understood the point of cliques, and excluding others. Especially girls. They always seemed to travel as a herd. It was a bit intimidating. On the bright side though, 'Walter' didn't mention his roommates being bullies.

"You're welcome," thought he wasn't completely sure what he was being thanked for. Maybe he was reassuring him not to be scared? Either way his friend had a smile across his face, and that was a good sign. "Nothing wrong with being scared." He added for a bit more comfort. Being nervous about a new environment was only natural.

Iggy's smile widened. "I'm in five-zero-three." Well, what do you know… Next door neighbors. He gave an excited nod, "I'm happy to." He's seen two boys come and go from 502 occasionally, but he never really got to know them. Now he had a friend just a dorm over!

Wow! What luck. He was actually amazed that he hadn't seen this person up until now. Or, maybe he did, but he just couldn't remember Iggy's face? But that just brought him such a feeling of safety. If he felt bad, he knew he could just walk over and knock. That net of assurance would absolutely make his transition out of homesickness a whole lot easier. He had a new family, here, so to speak. And he was only now beginning to realize just how plentiful it was.

Well, this was really a productive morning. He set a hand on Iggy's shoulder, then gave him a very brief, but snug hug. That wasn't weird back where he was from, and hopefully it wasn't here. He really appreciated all that some of the people here were willing to do for him. Be his friend, help him out... It was absolutely wonderful.

"Thank you, again... I think I'm going to go to learn some more in the library... I'll be in the dorm later, though!" he felt it was a promise he had to make. Just so Iggy didn't go in to the hall, and find nobody there. He didn't want for him to be lonely or not see his friend!
