Encounters (Everett)

[Faye LaBeau]

So her drinking had gotten a little out of control and she came to work the tiniest bit hung over. It wasn't a crime, everyone did it, and Faye remedied it simply by showing the movie version of Romeo and Juliet that she'd been saving for the right day anyway. As she sat in the dark room with her students, listening to Olivia Hussey glide through her soliloquy, she felt her head pounding and her tired eyes crying out to her brain like hungry baby birds for coffee. 

The bell rang and she dismissed the minions, quickly slipping her pumps back on and made a B-Line for the staff lounge. If someone finished the pot and didn't make another one again so help her GOD because she was going to haul some serious ass if she didn't get some liquid sleep! 

The staff lounge was empty, good. She didn't feel like making small talk. The coffee pot in question was shockingly full and for the first time in years she found herself very religious and thanking God as she poured it's dark contents into a styrofoam cup.

It had been a long morning. One of his trainees had come to see him and Everett hated to admit that he was hungover and so he tried to work through his headache and try to help them out, but it was rather hard. He had a responsibility to these students and he couldn't come to the school hungover. So as soon as they'd left, he'd made a dash for the staff lounge to see if anybody had brewed a new pot of coffee. He wasn't a fan. He preferred chocolate and lots of it as opposed to something so bitter in taste but if it would help him, then he'd deal with it.

Everett had mostly been going bored out of his mind at Hammel anyway. He didn't have a lot of new students and he'd wanted to take on more, but so far it just seemed like he was sitting in his office reading over files and playing pinball on his computer.

He hoped nobody was in there so he didn't have to make awkward small talk, but he caught a glimpse of blonde hair. "Hey Ice Queen," he told her.

Faye wished desperately that her powers changed from ice to being able to silence the world around her. That's all she wanted. Silence. So when the blonde mans voice cut through the air like blades straight to her ears she couldn't help but wince and push her sunglasses further up her nose. 

"Hey." She said back flatly. She had been hoping to avoid him. Did she like kissing him? Hell yes. He was hot and cute and she was pretty sure that he had a personality too. That didn't come around often. However Faye was still in her hole of self pity and loathing. He didn't deserve to be dragged down there to be eaten by worms with her. 

"Coffee?" She offered as the pot finished. It was the least she could do for making out with him in the first place.

The response wasn't what Everett had been expecting. It was a flat, mostly emotionless greeting. She might as well have not said anything. He was the one greeting people like that lately, not her. He should be the crabby one. "What? Did one of your students insult Shakespeare?" he asked, rather sarcastically. "Or are you an ice queen in more than just your power now, because that was cold."

"I hate coffee unless it involves lots and lots of chocolate, but I kind of need it today, so sure." He picked up a styrofoam cup from the table and held it out to her, smirking at her sunglasses.

"Ouch, Sorry" She mumbled as she took the cup from him and poured him the coffee despite not liking his attitude. He didn't deserve her coffee especially after insulting it. She felt like her child just got bullied but she was far too tired to defend it. "Sugar is in the cupboard... as is hot chocolate mix a packet in and you'll probably like it better." She instructed as she took a seat at the table deciding to ignore his little ice queen quips. Quite frankly she'd been trying to stay on the down low regarding her abilities especially after that disney movie came out with her likeness as the Ice Queen of course. If she had one more student call her Elsa or ask her if she wanted to build a snow man so help her. T

"It's been a while lover boy." She smirked coyly, her sunglasses slipping down to her nose. She wondered if this was as freaking weird for him as it was for her, not that she minded. In fact she was getting quite used to having the trainer around and had more than one idea of things to do with him during their breaks. 

Catching herself staring she pushed her glasses back up her nose and took a sip of her black coffee. 

[Everett Lilien]

"That," Everett said, pointing to her. "Is a great idea." He moved towards the cupboard, rummaging through it. He pulled out several sugar packets and a hot chocolate mix and began mixing them into his cup of coffee, pleased as it began to smell a lot better.

He took a sip of it and nodded in approval before turning to her. "It has," he agreed. "What? Are the fluorescent lights too much for you?" He gestured to her sunglasses. Or was she painfully hungover? He walked across the lounge to sit down at the table across from her. "You haven't been avoiding me, have you?"

Faye watched as the boy destroyed the perfectly brewed coffee. She'd never understand the anti coffee drinkers... it was as important as air and tasted like magic... but alas. She took a sip of her own dark liquid. 

"Har har." She said rolling her eyes despite him not being able to see them regarding the quip about the sunglasses. "I'm afraid that the reason for the sunnies isn't the most professional." Faye offered as they slipped down her nose revealing her piercing blue eyes. 

His next question took her back a bit. Wasn't he feeling bold. "No... not avoiding you. How could I with that smile? In fact I was about the ask the same of you? Did i come on too strong last time or something?" She wanted nothing more than to throw him in his car take him home and snuggle with him while he nursed her back to health. "What do you say we get out of here?" She wiggled her eyebrows, it wasn't an option to leave.

"Ah, I thought so. Didn't think you recently had your eyes dialated or were blinded by the mafia," Everett joked, chuckling a little too much at his own joke. "Anyway, you're doing it wrong, because you're not getting drunk with me. I thought that was a thing we had going. You know, get drunk together, make out in a corner at the bar together." He was still on a roll of throwing out jokes, but in all seriousness, it did seem like she was avoiding him or something.

"No, pshh, nobody comes on too strong for me. I can harness a ton of electricity and you think I can't handle you, Ice Queen?" He grinned and then took in her next question as he sipped his not-so-coffee. "What? We're at work. That's irresponsible!" Not like he hadn't been irresponsible or wasn't on occassion in the present. "Don't you have to teach some kid to read Shakespeare? Where art thou, miss LaBeau?" The jokes just wouldn't stop.

He was perhaps the only person who's cheery personality Faye could tolerate. There was something about the blonde boy that was utterly intriguing and she couldn't deny it. His comment won a smile from the ice queen. "So you did like that huh?" She asked raising from her chair and going over towards him pinning him against the wall. 

She slowly brought her lips to his lips before pulling away and turning, "you're right... irresponsible and the kids... but that doesn't mean that you have to ignore me when we're not in jail." She said with an impish smirk. "You know blondie... you could ask me out on a date. It wouldn't kill you." Her lips were just flapping and she was getting annoyed with herself. She knew he was just a kid and he didn't deserve to be pulled into her mess. But she couldn't deny that the attention she got from him wasn't fun and she needed attention even if it was just a distraction from her train wreck life. But wasn't all of this a distraction? She had never planned to come back to Pilot Ridge and here she was trying her best to relive the good old days... what a laugh.

"Wow, you smiled," Everett commented, amused that she'd done so. "I didn't know you liked that nickname." What happened next threw him slightly off guard and he threw his hands up in the air as she pinned him against the wall, still gripping his coffee mug with his random mixture in it. God, it was getting way too hot in here and this was the staff lounge! With his luck someone would walk in and he'd get fired. Yep, that would happen. He tried to dodge her to get away from her and act professional, but who was he kidding anyway? Sometimes he really just wanted to act like a dumb teenager, how he did at his years at Hammel as a student. After all, he'd never really grown out of that, he'd just told himself he had to.

And then she kissed him and it made it all the harder to resist, especially since it sent a current of electricity through him. "I'm not ignoring you. Look, I was having a bad night that night at the bar. I don't usually drink that much. And I was kind of embarrassed about it, not about you though. I liked that part."

A date? He didn't remember the last time he'd went on a date? "I'm not so sure that you'd want to go with me on a date. I'm not very conventional. It wouldn't be a dinner and a movie, you know." Damn, was he actually nervous about the idea of going on a date with Faye? This blonde bombshell who obviously knew more than he ever would about anything because she was older and a teacher and had gone to college? "At least not to a restaurant...I cook." He didn't exactly go around telling people how much he loved cooking either and how he dreamed of being a chef in his own restaurant.

She wasn't sure if she should be offended or not for him pulling away like a toddler who didn't want to be kissed by their Aunt Bertha with the hairy mole on her upper lip. She'd choose to believe that was out of playfullness and not because he thought she was gross or he wasn't interesting. How could he not be? Not only was she older but she knew that she was hot. She'd known that her entire life. 

As he spoke she pulled back feeling a pang of guilt hearing what kind of night he was having. Maybe she'd pushed too far after all... She let her arms drop and picked up her coffee mug again taking a sip to calm her nerves and snag a few breaths of air to center herself again. "Cooking is a good thing." She told him, "I thought when you said unconventional you were going to suggest cliff diving or midget mud wrestling," she jested as she swirled the dark liquid in her cup. 

"I'm sorry you were having a bad night... I shouldn't have taken advantage of you." She blurted unable to shake that uncomfortable guilt feeling. She didn't want to bully him into a date now too... even though she was completely serious she would play the 'i'm kidding if you are' game.

"Not quite that unconventional," Everett commented. "But I might take you to a comic book store or make you cosplay with me at a comic convention. But that's no big deal." He grinned one of his signature dorky smiles he always wore when he was talking about the things he loved. "But I also love cooking, which is slightly more conventional. I make some pretty great pasta. You're welcome over, although I will warn you that my roommate and I aren't exactly on speaking terms if you remember why I was at that bar in the first place." Although having Gabe there would be the least of his problems, he actually had to impress her!

"You didn't take advantage of me. I was looking for a distraction, trust me." He didn't want her to blame herself.

Faye couldn't stop grinning when he mentioned the comic books as if it was a bad thing. "You really have no idea." She laughed "Did you know... I've been to comic con pretty much every year since I was 16?" She asked raising a brow, "I mean I didn't advertise it in high school but don't act like you're so cool and alternative because you're not." She winked taking a sip of her coffee.

She nodded when he said he was looking for distraction and her face fell, "I understand the whole needing distraction thing." she sighed. Actually she felt like she needed something else now. She'd been distracting herself long enough and was starting to feel ready to move on with her life... whatever that meant. She needed to heal and she wasn't sure if the young blonde in front of her was the answer, but if he was she wasn't sure she'd mind. Maybe he needed to stop distracting himself too.

"Man, I think I'm in love," Everett joked, well, only half joked. He kept learning new things about Faye that surprised him. "The Ice Queen loves comics?" Damn, did she cosplay too? Would it be too much to ask? Of course what she said was followed by a jab at his ego, because it was Faye and how could she leave that out? "Why didn't you advertise it? Didn't want the geeky community all over you?" Now that was a joke. "And don't act like that's how I actually think. I don't go to comic con because it makes me look cool and different and I don't go out of my way to buy every new issue of Batman or Thor to be alternative. Who do you think I am? A poser? Is it the hair? Do you think it's douchey?" Call him a hipster, but he loved this stuff and he hated when people acted as if it was something you did to label yourself as different from other people.

"Enough of this. You know what else is a good distraction? Food. Let me cook you something. I promise you won't regret it."

She just smiled as he went on his little tangent, only shrugging when he nailed it right on the head exactly why she didn't advertise. The mix between the little nerds most likely worshiping her if she outed herself mixed with this ridiculous standard she had as a teen made for a very boring, snoody, Faye who didn't share much of her interests or herself with anyone. She would have rather died than get caught with Saga or The Runaways. That reading was kept strictly in private. Going to Comic Con itself she always hawked up to visiting her family in San Diego, since that was where she was from. She'd claim to rather make fun of nerds than spend more time with her loser sister. Right.

Of course when she got to college she stopped caring. Funny how college did that to people. 

"Mmm. Food. Yes." She said "If you cook something I'll bake something." She'd always been a better baker than a cook. "Just let me know what you like."
