Oh, that really was going to get to him. He was one for picking up on emotions, and usually feeling them himself. He really missed them, he really, really did. And others talking about just how much they did really made him sad. He really did understand where Darian was coming from. Many of the nights he had spent were spent crying softly in to his pillow, probably much to the annoyance of his dorm mates, who didn't really seem to say anything about it.
When he'd mentioned Harry Potter, though, his eyes lit up. That was one of his favorite series! And luckily, there was a version of the books that was translated in to German. The movies, too, while still English, at least had German subtitles. Maybe he had some sort of mystique, too. A little sub-thought to accompany the terror of his practical kidnapping. Hogwarts would have been an amazing place to go to... Instead of a man in a suit coming to take someone away, it could have been something like running through a brick wall in a train station.
When people cried, or were about to, it was a very hard thing to cover up. He turned once again, gently laying an arm across Darian's chest. He felt that hitched breathing in his chest, the sort that indicated a round of sobbing. So, doing what he figured would be the best thing to console him, Walther gave Darian a big hug. Not tight, not aggressive, just nice and snug. A solidarity sort of thing, as he wished someone would have given him a hug when he first came. It was really all he needed.
That burning in his eyes, it was coming up for him, too. Now that the conversation was entirely on the topic of families. He was ready to break down and cry. What if they did every night, missing him? He didn't have any siblings. And all of his cousins lived many, many hours away. They had no children left... His eyes reddened, and a lone teardrop trailed down his right cheek.
