Sawyer could easily own up to the fact that yes, she was actually pretty damn good at basketball. Despite her height, the girl can jump and shoot three pointers like nobody's business. But she did have a problem with travelling like whoa.

So there she was, trying to figure out what the hell she was supposed to do to reduce travelling while she had the ball but in came this petite stunner in a tank top and shorts and...a lot of bouncing.

In a split second, she tripped over the basketball and landed face flat on the grimy floor as the ball rolled away innocently, like it hadn't caused a major accident. "Fucking ball." Sawyer grumbled as she turned around on her back and refused to get up.

"Hey, tank top, a little help here?" She waved a hand up to signal the brunette.

Penny wasn’t unfit, but she could not stand gym class. It was a waste of time and energy and a major part of the grade involved interacting with other people. It also often involved sports that she was not good at. The Brit promoted healthy living, yes, but this was just idiotic.

In short; if it wasn’t required, she wouldn’t have been there.

The Brit came out of the locker room, glancing around the gym with little interest. Basketball. Great. Penelope was short and had the hand eye coordination of a child. Needless to say, basketball wasn’t her forte.

She glanced down as a basketball caught her attention. Penny bent forward, picking it up carefully before her gaze traveled to where the ball had come from just as she was called out to. Penelope looked around briefly before she realized the girl was addressing her. Oh. She was ‘tank top’?

Penny hadn’t originally noticed that she fell, but gathered that she had from the way she was on the floor. The Brit walked over and looked down at the brunette. “Are you okay?” she asked, however she did not offer a hand to help her up.

From where she was lying down, Sawyer couldn't decide whether it was an accident or a blessing in disguise that she fell. But when the girl started speaking, the voice mimic decided right then and there that yes, it was most definitely a blessing in disguise.

A beautiful Brit had crossed paths with her and she had a rack on her even Sawyer was envious of.

"I dunno...you an angel? Because if you are, I don't think I could be any okayer than right now." Sawyer smirked like the pervy douchebag that she was.

"Now will you please help me up, angel?"

Penelope’s eyebrows furrowed together at the response given to her. How does one even respond to that? Her lips pursed as the girl once again referred to her as an angel. She didn’t like it. Nor did she like the arrogant smirk on this girl’s face.

She hesitated a moment before shifting the basketball to fit between her hand and her side. The Brit slowly extended a hand. She couldn’t very well say no after asked, now could she? Even as much as she wanted to, Penelope still felt the need to be, more or less, proper in most situations.

“’Okayer’ is not a word.” She stated, expression remaining unamused, “And don’t call me ‘angel’.”

The reaction from the other brunette had Sawyer smirking before she tried hiding it. Clearly this girl was not going to give into her obvious charms so she needed to be polite. If only to continue being in the good graces of the girl with the amazing knockers.

When the hand was finally extended, Sawyer grabbed it and used it as leverage to pull herself up. She could feel the soreness where she had landed on earlier and she sighed. At least nothing was broken.

At the correction, Sawyer snorted. "It is too a word. It's the heightening of the feeling of being okay!" She argued before rolling her eyes. "What do you propose I call you, Princess? Bubble butt? Gorgeous McBeautiful? Tank Top? Give me a clue here, sugar."

The moment her classmate was up off the floor, Penelope slid her hand away, bringing it safely to her side and away from this strange girl.

She didn’t ask if the girl was okay, because at this point Penelope had decided she didn’t like her, and thus didn’t care. “The heightening feeling of okay would be ‘good’ or ‘great’.” Penny was picky with words, and that clearly was reflected in her tone.

She felt the heat rise to her cheeks as the other brunette listed off potential nicknames. Her lips pulled down into an irritated frown as she briefly considered just walking away from the girl altogether. “Penelope.” She said shortly. She didn’t ask for the other’s name, because it was clear she wasn’t going to need to know it. Penny had no intentions of keeping this girl in her life after that class.

Sawyer, thick-headed as she was, noticed how quick she was to pull herself away from her and decided not to let it bother her too much. She seemed wound up but nothing a dose of good old Sawyer Lynn charm couldn't fix.

"Lemme guess...you wanna be a teacher when you're all growed up?" Sawyer asked, purposely butchering up her grammar with a wickedly charming grin on her face.

"Aww, you gave me your name! See, we're becoming good friends already." She threw her arms out to her side and nodded appreciatively. "Now...I'm guessing you're not here just to be my guardian angel. Not in that outfit at least. That needs to burn in hell. Gym clothes, am I right?" She chuckled before reaching a hand out to the other brunette. "Can I interest you in a game of strip horse?"

Penelope offered no change in expression at the poor grammar except that of her lips pressing into a hard line in irritation. She assumed the girl was doing it on purpose to annoy her, and it was certainly working. It didn’t help that the girl was spot on about the fact that Penny wanted to someday teach.

…That grin was not charming. She couldn’t help but to think of someone else’s obnoxious grin.

Penelope was finding this conversation harder and harder to take part of. “No, we’re not.” She stated flatly, feeling the need to make it clear that they were not friends, nor did she plan on them ever being.

The Brit looked down at her outfit, eyebrows knitting together with confusion. What was wrong with it? They were normal gym clothes, although they did generally show off more than the every day clothes Penny chose to wear.

Just as she was about to decline the crude offer, Penny’s attention snapped towards the gym teacher as she heard him say that now that everyone had found partners, they would start.

“…You’ve got to be joking.” Penny practically groaned, looking around the gym. Everybody had a partner, and it obviously looked like the pair had partnered up as well. She turned back to the other brunette, lips still pursed in frustration. Instead of taking the hand, Penny simply handed over the ball. “Nobody’s stripping.”

Chuckling at the lack of response from the seriously attractive Brit, Sawyer shrugged and let it go. The girl was clearly not amused or charmed by Sawyer's antics.

Of course, she wouldn't be Sawyer Lynn if she didn't pursue it insistently.

"I'm telling you, there's something here." Sawyer gave the other girl a smug grin as she gestured between them. "It's seriously futile to resist my charms, tank top." She gave an exaggerated wink.

Her attention was swayed by the booming voice of their gym teacher who said the words Sawyer could not help but smirk to. It was then directed to Penelope with a chuckle, accepting the ball and shrugging at the remark. "It's okay, I've got an imagination." Sawyer chuckled and gestured for the other brunette to follow her.

"Okay, so you ever play basketball before?" Sawyer asked, letting the ball bounce between her hands.

Very few had the nerve to talk to Penny the way Sawyer currently was. The Brit didn’t handle these things very well, and normally chose to ignore it, but now she had no choice but to deal with this girl. Penny looked up at the large clockface in the gym, pursing her lips into a hard line as she did so.

Thirty-six minutes.

Penelope couldn’t help but to roll her eyes at the comment. “That isn’t my name,” she said sternly, crossing her arms over her chest defensively. She’d need to buy a new gym outfit.

She kept her expression unamused as the other continued. “Stop it.” She had no idea how else to respond to such a comment.

Regardless, she followed only because she was being graded on participation. “This isn’t playing basketball; basketball has more players and rules. This is practice with a basketball.”

Very few had the same fucks to give as Sawyer. Callous was merely an understatement when it came to the voice mimic and she liked it that way.

"But it sounds so much better." Halfway through her statement, Sawyer started laughing at the Brit's movement to cover herself. "You're wound up tight, aren't you?" She commented with an amused shake of the head.

It had probably occurred to the voice mimic that some people had limits but it was only when the other brunette vocally asked her to stop did Sawyer hold her hands up by way of raising a white flag.

"Yes, ya pedantic ar-angel." Sawyer caught herself before anything more damaging came out of her mouth as she stopped at a relatively empty spot for them to practice. "You still haven't answered my question. Have you played basketball before?"

Wound up tight was, more or less, a pretty accurate description of Penelope, but she refused to acknowledge that. She knew her name wasn’t the best out there, but she liked it. It suited her. Tank top did not.

Pedantic was also an accurate description of the Brit, and she pursed her lips at the description, eyes narrowing at the other brunette. “No, I haven’t.” It was probably easy to notice that Penelope didn’t do sports, the exception being that she enjoyed going on runs alone from time to time.

She didn’t bother to ask her partner if she had, because frankly she didn’t care. “I have, however, practiced throwing a basketball around.” God, she was pedantic.

Sawyer had to bite the inside of her upper lip to stop herself from laughing at the look Penelope was giving her. She had to fight an overwhelming urge to ask "What."

"It's cool. It's not that hard to pick up." Sawyer reassured her, even though she was pretty sure the other girl couldn't care less about it.

When she remarked on practicing with a basketball, Sawyer smirked and shook her head in amusement, getting closer to the other brunette. Personal space? What?

"What you're going to do is try to throw a three pointer." Without even thinking, Sawyer grabbed Penelope's arm to steer her away from where they had been standing.

As Sawyer spoke, Penny was barely paying attention, instead thinking of ways to get out of being partners with this. It wasn’t until the girl had stepped closer to Penny did she actually start to listen to her, and only because she was wondering what the girl thought she was doing.

“It doesn’t matter if I can throw a three pointer or not.” Penny stated firmly. Honestly? She had no idea what a three pointer even was. The Brit had little interest in sports, so refused to retain any information bout them. It was a waste of knowledge.

She went to back up, but suddenly felt the other take hold of her arm. “Hey!” she tried to jerk her arm away, but to no avail. “Let go!”

Sawyer threw a frustrated glance up at the ceiling as her patience with this bird wore thin. It was a good thing she had been in a good mood in the first place but the temperamental voice mimic had her limits. And they were pretty short.

When the other brunette started protesting at being manhandled, Sawyer slammed the ball hard on the ground and let the girl go. "Jesus Christ, woman! Could ya seriously get that stick out of your ass for like a second and maybe loosen up for this?" Sawyer laughed mirthlessly as she ran her fingers through her hair. "It's a fucking practice, I'm fucking tryina be nice, and you're being fucking difficult!" An amalgamation of voices bubbled up to the surface as Sawyer tried to keep her anger under wraps.

"Look, I know I ain't the best partner you could have gotten but it's for participation scores. I'm good at this and I can help you with it. Could we please for the love of fucking Christ get over this half hour without you being a grammar nazi and slash or a pedantic...infuriating though stupidly hot know it all?" She asked in a whisper, though by this point, the ball she had slammed to the floor had captured more than a handful of student's attention.

"This isn't HBO, people. Get back to practice." Sawyer demanded, glaring at the others until they rolled their eyes and went back to their practice.
