Kodi's reaction was more valuable than gold - Gryph smirked and, in response, pouted his lips out stupidly, making a peace sign with his fingers and putting that by his face too, for good measure. Smoking hot, right there. Although, he would never actually let someone take a picture of him duckfacing. Except for irony, sarcasm or a joke. I mean, who seriously thought that duckfacing was actually attractive? Not Gryph.

Honestly, he was prepared for whatever came their way, at the same time as being absolutely clueless and unsure. He was as prepared as a hiker in the middle of nowhere without a map - it was foreign territory, but they worked together and were careful about it, they would be fine. That wasn't as to suggest that it would be perfect - sadly, that was far from reality. But Gryphon felt like he was about ready to weather any storm.

Meaning so much to another person was pretty weighting, and from how Kodi had worded it, Gryphon meant a whole fucking lot to him. It made him feel amazing and cautious at the same time... the feeling was mostly mutual, though. Gryph found himself caring more about Kodi than he almost thought he should - it wasn't like he was stalking his boyfriend or whatever, but he cared more for Kodi than he ever expected to care for someone outside of his family, and so quickly.

He did mean it, however. It might've given him a small heavy feeling inside, but that was something he couldn't help. And it truly was okay. He smiled down at his boyfriend, who was now attached to his waist, and hugged his arms around him too. "I don't intend t'lose you, but... okay." He smiled softly and kissed the top of Kodi's head, kissed his hair, really. Kodi could have however long he needed. Gryphon himself knew the importance of waiting until comfort was present.

His vision flicked up and to the side, following Kodi as he kissed the side of his mouth. Gryph smiled gently and laughed a little at that one line, butterflies of happiness flying around on his stomach. He wasn't even sure if he should believe it or not, but hee let himself. Kodi wouldn't say something like that just for the 'lolz.'

A foreign language, Chinese, if Gryph had heard properly. But that was where the extent of his Chinese fell off a cliff - he hadn't the foggiest. Other than hello, which was " Ni hao." Or something. Gryphon gave Kodi a weird look as he was pushed back, wondering what he had said. His arms came around the boy as he came to a stop on top of him, "Dangsin-eun babo ibnida~" he replied, in another another language, smiling stupidly. He poked Kodi's shoulder, "You know Chinese?" It was a new thing and Gryph was interested!

Kodi could sort of understand now why Gryph wanted to wait to do... Sex. Well, kind of. For Kodi, it was something he'd experienced a lot, something he was familiar with and didn't usually see as all that intimate like it was for some people. Of course, that mindset had changed recently, given the circumstances, so he would feel incredibly happy when and if Gryph finally agreed. But now, in the same way, Kodi was feeling hesitant to say something that Gryphon had already said - so in that sense, he could relate. It wasn't exactly the same, but they were kinda sorta related.

In any case, he just wanted to take in this moment and enjoy it, so he stayed relaxed against the older boy, eyelids lazily drifting half-shut as he listened to Gryph speak. "Eh?" he chuckled, not understanding the foreign language. He should have expected that, of course. "Yeah... I do," he replied sheepishly. "I'm only white on my dad's side, mom's from China. Picked up a bit growin' up." He wasn't incredibly fluent, but he had made an effort to continue to practice it after he moved away from home, for fear of losing the culture.

But... He didn't really want to talk about his parents, because that depressed him, and he didn't want to be sad. So Kodi buried his face against Gryph's chest, ignoring the sting still on his cheek, and yawned. "Thanks for, y'know, takin' care of me," he mumbled, squeezing his arms around the winged meta.

Gryphon chuckled again, not sure if he should relay the translation. It wasn't mean or anything, it was just funny for him. He nodded slowly as Kodi explained his background, though. His own dad was very much Korean, and he was the reason why Gryph knew both Korean and English. He refrained from using English as much as possible, from what Gryphon knew, because it meant he was giving into the American ways of society if he did. Of course, being a very successful businessman, he knew and used the language often, but in his own household, he would only speak Korean. And his mom... that was something he didn't want to go into either. She was American, to Gryph's knowledge. That was about it though. He didn't know what to say, so he just smiled gently, and understandingly. If it was possible to smile understandingly.

Gryphon looked at his boyfriend as he nuzzled himself into his chest. His thoughts were still partially whirring around his own family, and his origins, and now also his upbringing, so he became a little sombre. He tried to ignore that though, butting his head against Kodi's gently, "No need t'thank me." He replied.

And then he laughed a little, "Y'know, I've never met anyone else like you," he said, not sure himself where this was even leading, "And I'm so glad've that, because you're amazing." He smiled and looked down, not sure why he even said that. So strange.
