If there was something Raylaigh had a problem with it was figuring out what people were thinking. He was extremely inept at that kind of thing. Especially if someone was upset and wanted to hide it, well Ray wouldn’t be very good at all at figuring out that they were upset in the first place, much less figure out why. He was very selfish in that way, he figured so long as he was happy life was good for everyone, perhaps that was what came from putting someone else’s happiness ahead of his own so often at the expense or rather the avoidance of conflict. If someone didn’t tell him that something he was doing was upsetting them he would just keep doing it. He was in life to have fun, not be somebody’s lapdog. There were some hard lessons that he’d learned from his first relationship. It had yet to be seen how much this learning in Jack’s absence held up in practice.
Racing against Nao his goal was to win and he was going to go at it as hard as he could. He saw Nao pick it up and he couldn’t help but smile and laugh. He was already going as fast as he could. Sprinting was his forte, he could keep it at this pace for a very short period of time, it was a good thing the course he’d taken to the pond was short. He pushed himself harder and he could feel sweat breaking out on his brow and the ache in his lungs and wings burned as he pushed himself harder. He was going to at least give Nao a run for his money. He wasn’t going to make this easy on the runner.
He cut toward the runner and he heard Nao call out. He didn’t stop his speed but Nao did call his attention. He smiled widely at the small Asian and a look of confusion crossed his face. Nao wasn’t headed for the pond anymore but where was he… Ray clued in a second or so before it happened but he was going too fast and without control and Nao was going too fast there was no way to stop the inevitable. Nao and Ray collided and the flyer spun out of the air his arms wrapping around Nao in attempt for stability but the extra weight and his inability to stabilize himself took them down. Ray plunged into the water and it hit him in a cold shock to the system. He kicked and drove himself to the surface. He couldn’t see anything but he kept a hand tight on Nao’s arm to make sure he knew where he was.
Breaking the surface finally he inhaled sharply and laughed in the night air. It was refreshing and he flipped his head to get his hair out of his head. He stumbled a little and got his feet under him and found himself able to touch the bottom and the water came up just above his elbows. “What does that mean? Who won?” He asked, he had no idea but if they were going to start in technicalities Ray had been knocked into the water first therefore he’d won. He was soaked and he wasn’t even a little bit upset about that fact. He splashed Nao. “What were you thinking!?” He laughed splashing Nao again.
