Kiara listened to his story, allowing herself to get sucked into it. Ears took in the words, and eyes scanned his somewhat troubled face, able to combine both without hardly missing a single detail. While this memory dated back to a couple of years ago, she was convinced something in his eyes gave away he had never fully recovered from that love. At the same time it also dawned upon the blonde that she had no real knowledge about Gabe’s power. It stirred some questions – ones that would be kept for later on. She had no intention of interrupting the man; it seemed better to just let him have his moment instead of messing up the natural flow of his story.
It also stirred some emotions within her though. Ki partially could understand Mikayla’s reaction, but at the same time she could also see that Gabriel had no malice in his veins when shit hit the fan. It seemed to be comparable to her situation with Jackson: his intentions were not evil either; he had made his decisions with her best interest at heart. Of course there continued to be some differences, but the empathy that the blonde began to feel for Gabe, made her wonder if she was being too stern and too hard on her ex-boyfriend.
When Gabe appeared to be done talking, Kiara glanced at him for a second before one of her feet shuffled from underneath the blanket, gently nudging itself against his to make him look up and over. “You’re not a bad guy, Gabe.” She informed him as a soft empathic smile settled on her lips. “Maybe you shouldn’t have lied about the glasses, but you had reasons for that, and the… well, encounter with Mikayla’s roommate was out of your control.” Ki wasn’t necessarily trying to justify it. She simply wanted the man to know she wouldn’t judge him on that and that self-loathing based on the memory might be out of proportion.
“You loved her,” the blonde eventually added in a small whisper, retrieving her foot. “Have… you heard of her ever since?” In addition to that, she also wondered about something else. Something that was brought on by the last statement that had flowed from his lips. Kiara first let Gabe answer her first question though, before asking what else was on her mind. It kind of made her shift for a second, a tad bit uncertain on how to word it since she did not want it to sound accusatory or like she was lacking trust in him.
“I’m not one hundred percent certain what your power is, but… you didn’t use it on me, right?” That one night.
