Rue couldn’t help it. He was a worrier, and it was usually his job to take care of Finn, not the other way around. This was just all sorts of weird. “I do feel better,” he promised. “I can make sure you’re alright and feel better at the same time.” Logic? Maybe. At least it was a distraction. He just wished the guy would take two minutes to change! Sigh. Rue sipped some more water. “Gem names are nice, too,” he agreed with a smile. “I’m just a… Nerd for stars and planets, I guess.” And the mythology that came with their names.
He wasn’t one to ask for help. Not at all. Which was probably why no one had really come to help him out before now. Rue was used to providing, not being provided for. He would continue feeding himself as best he could when his friend wasn’t spoiling him with homemade Korean cooking. At least he didn’t feel so useless, kneading the dough like this. “Alright then,” he relented with a chuckle. “It’s still more than you had to do. You could have just ordered something instead of going to all this work…” He sighed and smiled softly up at Finn. “… But your cooking is the best anyway.” Rue would choose it over takeout any day.
He sniffed and wiped away the rest of the dampness in his eyes as he listened to Finn talk. “Heh… Alright, I won’t promise,” Rue said quietly. “I feel fine, just a little emotional because I have the most generous friend in the world.” He smiled a little, then nodded as his friend went to go change. At least, he hoped that’s what he was doing. Rue didn’t cry, but did do a great job of observing the cooking things and making sure they didn’t burn.
He looked up when Finn returned, and laughed a little at the sight. “Are you really that much smaller than me?” Rue asked, putting a hand against his own ample waist. “I guess I better lose a pound or two.” Not that he really cared, he wasn’t all that worried about his body. He liked to eat too much anyway. “…. Messy, huh?” he repeated with a raised eyebrow. “I guess the bedroom goblins have been at their mischief again.” Rue chuckled and took a deep whiff of the air. “Is it almost ready?” he asked, practically drooling. “It smells amazing.” He got up from his chair and moved around the counter to go watch the cooking more closely beside Finn. Rue hadn’t realized how hungry he was until now. That’s what he got for going weeks without eating much. He probably had lost weight.
