Lost in the time [Zachary]

Once again Avery decided to go to the student lounge. Even though she had only been there once she didn't feel so awkward going this time. Which was kind of odd for her. Avery was usually a person who felt awkward for the first couple time of doing something. Then again she did meet Eric there and that kind of helped her. Rounding the bend she wondered if Eric would be there again today. She hoped so. She really enjoyed talking to Eric. With that thought Avery smiled. It was weird she though of him as a friend, maybe even as the brother she wish she had. They just met but she could see them being friends.

Looking around she saw the chair. For some reason that was her favorite spot so far. It was kind of like the comfy seat on the couch. The one that's all bent in and squished. Walking over to the chair in the corner she smiled. Sitting down she let out a relieved sigh. Her semi curly blonde her bounced off her shoulders. She looked down at her purse and digged out her i-pod. Avery put her headphones in and started to listen to Paramore's crush crush. Avery's eyes closed and she started to dance again. The kind of dance you do when you think no one is watching.

The student lounge was one of the places that Zac didn’t like that much. Too noisy and public for his tastes. And usually too crowded, especially during these cold times when the grounds are too chilly for people to stay out of. And it’s not like Zac’s room had no flat screen TV and cable subscription with over a hundred different channels to choose from. But then again, his dorm suite had no vending machines.
The administration wouldn’t even let Zac bring his own treadmill in the suite, much less his own vending machine. Also his room had no games for him to play with (he has, but he’d lent it to Eric at the moment and since he’s out on a date with Autie, probably, Zac has no one to pwn ‘spar’ with).

So there he is, happily playing Tekken6 in one of the arcade games of the lounge (he’d make it a point the lounge is updated, even if it means digging from his own pocket, not that it ever goes empty anyway). Fortunately the sun was high enough and the wind was nice enough to simply give a light breeze that the place was almost deserted. Either everyone was out in the courtyard or simply back in their suites doing homework. Either way, Zac enjoyed the solitude he had. That is, until a blonde came in.

Good thing the blonde simply went to the not-so-near corner and decided to simply mind her own business. Zac is in no mood to socialize at the moment, not when he feels his character’s about to level up already. After a quick glance to check out who she is (probably new, since he can’t make her face out that much), his eyes went back to the game, finishing the match with his favorite character move, Alstromeria.

Once her music changed to Within temptations, she decided to look around. Taking a deep breath she spotted him. She couldn't help but stare at him. He was after all very good looking. He had that type of bad boy thing going on. Avery smiled a little as she looked him up and down. He was very easy on the eyes. She turned herself in her chair just to stare at him. She crossed her legs and played with her necklace.

Avery tossed her hair so it bounced a little. She really hoped he wouldn't notice. But lately she couldn't help but stare at all the cute guys at Hammel. Though if he where to catch her she probably would really blush and try to pretend that she wasn't staring. Maybe pretend that she dropped something or was listening to her music.

Tekken is the only game Zac would admit being addicted to. He’s not the greatest or even an expert when it comes to the game, but he can definitely hold his own against one who claims to be one. As he defeated the unruly ninja and ranked up, he couldn’t fail to notice the blonde staring intently at him from the corner of his eye. As much as he hates stereotyping, she pretty much gave him the pretty, dumb blonde impression the moment she came in – which translates to dull and boring for the boy. He smirked inwardly as he tells himself that he’s seen her gaze a dozen times over – the stare of infatuation, attraction, intoxication and daze – and only inflated his already oversized ego. How I wish Vincent was here to see this, he thought.

For once, Zac decided he’d be a tease. After all, the girl seemed so ditzy and frail to be able to handle his flirtatious advances, not to mention is a bit too perky for his tastes. Her hair toss only proved his point even further. But his near-loss to the mutant polar bear somehow changed his views. “Guess I’ll have to distract myself with some other thing until Eric arrives,” he huffed as he promptly removed his game card and made a beeline to where the girl was crazily dancing.

He lazily sat on one of the bean bags not too far from where the girl stood and gave her a sly smirk. “You rang blonde?” he asked, crossing his legs, looking much more intimidating than welcoming. “You do know that the hair bounce was a bit of over the top. You have got to learn how to be subtle kid. I’m no telepath but I can definitely tell you what’s running in your head right now. Not good.”

Something tells me this won’t end that well.

Avery's complexion went from sun kissed to beat red. She slowly took out her head phones. Her eyes where wide open and she didn't know what to do. "Um...I..I didn't mean to...um...I wasn't doing anything...I was just listening to..um...my music." Thinking she sighed as she looked outside. Avery was worried that she might make the sun shine even more. Her face kind of looked like she had seen a ghost. She didn't even know what to say. Avery started to play with her hair nervously.

Avery crossed her legs and tried to relax back into the chair. This was definitely a first for her. "I uh...just like...uh tossing my hair. I like to...maintain a good...persona...I guess...you could say. So...I'm Avery...." Avery held out her hand for him to shake. Thats all she could think to do. Avery was so nervous she didn't even know how to relax.

Seeing girl so flustered only made Zac break into a rather sinister chuckle. Not even her make-up could hide the fact that she turned into a tomato after his approach. It’s been long since he’s entertained girls with a crush on him. It’s usually those who show a rather tough and uninterested exterior he likes breaking. He loves shoving to people’s faces that they actually find him very hot and attractive. “Riiight,” he said, grabbing the other bean bag beside him and putting his legs over it, trying to project a very intimidating yet chic image (i.e. bad boy). “I didn’t know listening involved moving your arms and moving so gracefully like that.” He wasn’t really impressed at her dancing (he was sure he’s seen better), but nobody said he can’t flatter her like that. He told himself he’ll make this ‘visit’ worthwhile and he figures without flattery, his conversation with the blonde will indeed be a boring one.

He gave the girl another mocking laugh, rolling his eyes and crossing his arms over his chest, as she tried to justify her hair bounce (and her recent hair twirl). “Maintain a good persona? Of course, what am I thinking? And I only go to the gym because I want to be fit and healthy and maintain a long life.” If that’s how she wants the game to be played, very well then. He looked briefly at his watch and figured Eric’ll be back much much later anyway, no sense in boring himself while he wait.

“Nice to meet you Avery,” he said, shaking her hand yet not bothering to give her his name. No sense revealing it early in the game anyway. “Something tells me you’re new here, are you not?”

Avery made herself relax. After all she already met a really good looking guy today. Jinahi was starting to run threw her mind. She couldn't wait to hear from him. Thinking about him helped her think nothing of what was happening. Back in her old school there wasn't many good looking guys, so she was very inexperienced. Her blushing cheeks started to come back to her normal color. She still had to admit that this guy was very very attractive. He kind of had the exotic look thing going on too. Only Jinahi had the tan. The sun kissed tan from a different land was how Avery described it. "And when I sing it does involve flailing my arms around. I like getting involved in my music. When I get carried away I dance like a mad person. Although I am normally a good dancer."

Avery smiled for the first time with out trying to cover up her shyness. "I just have a pet peeve about my appearance. Is that a problem? I mean isn't a good thing?" Avery shook her head with a slight giggle. "I am new. Pretty new indeed. You knew here? When did you get here?" Avery was trying to make normal conversation with the guy. She didn't even know his name yet. "So whats your name?" Avery could be very persuasive. Although she usually had to use her girlie charms like batting her eye lashes.

If Zac knew that Jinahi was running through her mind now, that thinking of him somehow distracted Avery from the fact that he’s in front of him now, he’d be extremely frustrated. Frustrated, irritated and incredibly annoyed. Zac doesn’t do well with competition. He doesn’t like people being better than him. In his world, he is the only one, nothing else. He’s already heard of the Jinahi kid and was on his way to ‘befriend’ him (i.e. tell him that Zac rules the campus; if their meeting would be fruitful, he’d be happy to make Jinahi his sidekick) but if he read Avery’s mind, he’d rush out and immediately start on his plan to regain his throne. He figured Avery must be new; she shouldn’t be swayed by such new recruits. Zac is the sole royalty of Hammel, and she should know it. Not even if Jinahi has that ‘sun kissed’ tan.

“I’m not saying anything about you being a bad dancer. What ever gave you the idea?” The kid isn’t as dense as he thought then. Which is both good and bad. He’ll just have to play his cards properly then. “You dance pretty well. I’m in no position to judge really, as I am no dancer and I didn’t hear the music running through your ears back then,” he smirked, somehow telling that he isn’t really sincere with his words.

“Vain? My, my, that’s a terrible sickness indeed,” he laughed, this time joking instead of insulting. He was a vain creature himself and he knows full well how important it is to maintain one’s image. And while she does dress well, she needs to be a bit more subtle when she’s trying to seduce someone. Maybe Zac could tell her how? He shook his head at the thought. “It’s not bad my dear. Those who tell you that are just jealous. No need to deny it.” He told himself he won’t flirt with this blonde but he just can’t help it; it’s part of who he is. “After all, it’s a grave sin not to take care of such beautiful features.”

“I’ve been here for four years already. I know Hammel like the back of my hand.” He’s been in all sorts of trouble too. Fortunately he’s managed to keep most under wraps. “My, pushy are we?” he said, leaning back to his bean bag, arms crossed and sly smirk plastered on his face. It’s still too early to give her his name. He’d keep this game going on for a bit more before revealing himself. After all, she’s insulted him by thinking of Jinahi while conversing with him (although he doesn’t know that yet).

Avery was already a little flustered. She hated not to know peoples names. It was sort of a thing for her. She loved to meet everyone and once she is given the time she can come out of her shy shell. Although today all she could think about was Jinahi. Even though the guy in front of her was gorgeous and if she wasn't already after Jinahi she would probably have flirted with him and try to get to know him more then just a friend. But by the way things were going she didn't even know if they would be friends. Avery decided to try something to see if it worked. She wanted to try and get his name from him. It became sort of a game to her.

Avery nodded "I can be a little pushy when I need to be I guess. And as far as vain goes, I guess I sorta am. Then again I have met a lot of people like that. Like I met this really nice guy. He is really knew here. I tripped over him which made me look horrid. My new outfit got stuff on it. Jinahi is really sweet. He even asked for my number. Of course I gave it to him because he was really good looking to. He looked exotic. I mean no offense your good looking but he was such a sweet person to talk to." Avery had to give herself a mental high five to herself. She was really trying to push him to give her his name. Although she had to admit that she liked talking about Jinahi. He was definitely on her mind. "So can I know your name now? I mean I knew Jinahi for only about five two minutes before he gave me his name. He has quite an unusual name."

And people call Zac a jerk.

While Avery had every right to be flustered, Zac didn’t think she had the right to shove up his butt how wonderfully gorgeous and hot Jinahi is. He need not to know how she drooled over his sun tanned ass and he drooled over her back (not exactly what Avery said, but that’s how it came to Zac anyway). Knowing that there’s another guy in Hammel that could potentially grab people’s attention is one thing, but being told how he’s incredibly greater than Zac all things constant? That definitely calls for more drastic measures. And drastic is a word one does not want to be associated with the boy.

He sat on the bean bag with a sly smirk on his face, waiting for just the right moment to proceed with his retaliation. The girl asked for it anyway. “He asked for your number and you simply gave it away? That’s it? Without much resistance or even a bit of uncertainty? My, and they call me a whore.” Sorry Avery, but that’s just Zac for you. While part of him somehow means what him saying, it’s usually just goading. He likes to be the one making people feel uncomfortable, not the other way around. Since he’s extremely uncomfortable now, he’s doing his best to make her match his level of unease. “So what are you saying? That I should give you my number now too? Whatever happened to push-and-pull? To subtlety and finesse? To double entendres and innuendos? Gosh.”

“Of course Jinahi would be different. He’s part Arabic, that’s what I heard,” he nodded in his seat, “I, on the other hand, am Oriental. That’s a whole new class of erotic, I mean exotic. I have charms Jinahi could only dream of having.” He slowly stood up and walked over the girl, squatting when he got behind her. He carefully put a loose strand of hair behind her ears and whispered, in a very sultry tone, “I can be very, very sweet if you want me to. But saying how you drooled over a guy isn’t going to get you anywhere.” He made his voice very airy and breathy, his mouth only a hair’s thickness away from her cheek, “You’ve been a bad girl Avery, I am sure not going to give you my name, much less my number, that easily.” He gave her one last sinister laugh before standing up and flopping his not-so-lithe figure back to the couch.

Jinahi, Jinahi, Jinahi. he thought, After I’m through with you, you’ll be saying my name all day long.

Avery tried to relax. Her cool calm nature was being disturbed. She had no clue what would happen if she lost her cool. Her body stiffened as he touched her, then relaxed when he plopped down. Her mind wondering and reeling. Whatever he was trying to do wasn't going to work. Avery could let her emotions get a hold of her, after all she had to remember the tornado accident and she didn't want that to happen. She folded her arms on her lap and shut her i-pod off. After all she didn't want the battery to die.

"First off I am not a whore, in fact I am the exact opposite. Whether you are or not I have yet to know. Secondly, just because I gave Jinahi my number doesn't mean anything. Thirdly I didn't ask for your number, request to give you mine or anything. All I merely want is a name." Avery took a deep breath and closed her eye for a minute. Opening them she sighed again. "I am a very nice person and I try to see the best in people. But your making it hard for me. I'm not use to people aggravating me. SO please stop it.I hate to be blunt and I feel really bad but when my emotions get out of control I can't control my ability. " Avery's face was very flushed. Her heart was throbbing and she felt like she was going to pass out. Avery just chalked that up to the fact that she wasn't use to speaking her mind. She figured if she could get all her feeling out that maybe nothing bad would happen.

Seeing Avery freeze as he was talking to her then suddenly fume when he sat down was epic. A masterpiece really. How he wishes Eric was by his side so he could see how he really works (he’s sure Eric would definitely not approve of his methods, and would certainly side with the blonde though). He stern and angry face really made his effort to bug her all worthwhile. It seems he’s struck gold when he called her a whore and still did not give her his name. Wonderful, truly wonderful.

“Not a whore eh, then what are you, a slut? A bitch? Tell me,” Zac isn’t one for name calling, believing it to be extremely childish and immature, but hey, the girl was really being immature when she kept on mentioning Jinahi’s greatness in front of him. He wouldn’t want to stoop down to her level, but seeing that he perceives the girl as a little bit dense and would not pick up a much higher level insult, he’d happily exempt her. “I’m not a whore but they say I’m a bit of an asshole. I consider it a compliment actually,” he added, hoping she’d get the sarcasm in it.

“Really? Why’d you bring up the ‘hot lad’ then?” he asked, air quotes included. Blonde, you are so transparent you know that? he thought, Trying to save your image isn’t going to do anything. Sure she tried not to sound like she’s worshipping the Arabic lad by adding ‘you’re really good looking’ but it’s not like Zac doesn’t know that (he’s actually very aware that he’s good looking; so aware that it got to his head and make him one heck of an arrogant brat). What irked him is the fact the she brought him up in the first place. Ending her argument with ‘he has quite the unusual name’ didn’t really help out much either. “If you’re so obsessed with the lad, why don’t you simply call him right now and crawl up in between his legs. I’m sure he’d be happy to accommodate you.”

“The best in people? Oh puh-lease, I have no good in me,” he laughed, his eyes becoming more and more sinister as time goes on. Zac has long abandoned the notion of seeing the good in people. It’s just not worth it, he says. And since this girl likes holding on to such a fantasy, he’d be happy to burst her fragile bubble. “Oh my gosh, I am so scared,” he teased, giving Avery an expression of mock fear and grief, “What will you do to me? Burn me? Freeze me? Erase my memories so that I’d have to learn language all over again?” It had occurred to him that he hasn’t found out what the girl in front of him can do yet. Physical attacks he can easily dodge, but mental ones? He hasn’t had mental shielding lessons and he highly doubts tapping into a mule’s stubbornness or unleashing all the animals in him simultaneously, causing him to have a rampage, wouldn’t help much in the event that a mentalist gets furious. Let’s just hope she’s of the physical kind then.

Avery was fuming. Mentally she was counting to ten. This had never happened to her. She was never ever like this and it was getting harder to control her anger. I just wish he would cool of! He is so infuriating! Ugh! Why won't he stop! I want someone to rain on his parade. Avery's anger kept escalating and she was scared what would happen out side, she was scared that she would hurt someone.

"I'm a virgin for your information! I wouldn't stoop as low as someone like you!" Avery looked at the window and sure enough there where dark clouds outside. "I tell you go no further but you won't listen. I would leave but that would only make you press harder. For your info your not and asshole your worse. Something that hasn't even been named yet." Lightning striked and Avery started to get worried. She wondered what the dark clouds would produce, Hail, Rain, or snow. "Unlike a most here at Hammel I can't control my ability at all." Another lightning strike and Avery placed her hand on her head. Whatever was happening wasn't going to be good. The worse the storm the worse the headache or migraine. So far her head really hurt. But her anger was worse.


"Please just apologize to me so I can calm down. I hate this feeling." Avery looked outside. "Then again I might just be way to mad at this point. I'm here at Hammel because a tornado ripped threw my house, when I heard fighting." The wind outside started to go crazy, the leaves that haven't fallen off the trees yet got forced off by the wind. Please just rain please just rain. Medium sized balls fell from the sky and Avery shook her head. "YOU SEE HOW MAD YOU HAVE ME!? ITS HAILING OUTSIDE!" Avery put both hands by her sides, balled up into fists. She stood up because she was so infuriated.

Unfortunately for Avery, her rampage only fueled the self-proclaimed Hammel royalty. Zac is just that unreasonable. You don’t react to his jabs, he strikes harder. You react, he still strikes harder. There’s just no getting out with this jerk. Besides, he hasn’t been too jerky lately (he’s been busy trying to be all flirty and nice, seeing that most of the girls he encountered were not as vocal about their ‘attraction’ to the boy as the blonde) so he’s really savoring the moment. Who knows how long it’ll be before he can find another one like her?

Zac was surprised when he heard the sound of cackling lightning and booming thunder suddenly appeared. With a rather confused face, he looked out and saw the dark clouds that had formed above the once clear Vermont sky. He would’ve blamed the weatherman for being wrong in his prediction this time of the day; then again, he’s in Hammel. Strange things are bound to happen, especially with something as obvious as the weather.

“My, touchy are we?” Zac smirked, putting his worries about the weather aside for a while. It’s a good thing he chose to stay inside the lounge this time. “I could care less if you’ve slept with the whole school or not Avery,” he added, standing up to get himself a nice cup of hot cocoa from the vending machine. He still prefers the ones he makes back in his room, but it’ll do. He’s much too interested in making the blonde girl explode to let her go this early. “Why thank you, that’s too kind,” he smiled as he grabbed a couple of milk and sugar packets while waiting for his cup to fill, “After all these years living as if I’m an asshole, I finally realize why I just can’t seem to fit with them: I’m different. Thanks for enlightening me dear Avery, you are so so kind.” Taking the cup and putting it on a nearby as he mixed the milk and sugar into the drink, he added, “Oh Avery, I think it’s the opposite. Like most of the students in Hammel. People like me who have perfect control of our powers are a rarity in this school.” Just another one of the aspects of life where Zac feels awfully proud of himself, ability mastery and control.

He simply continued stirring his drink, face turned away from the girl, as she continued to rant and asked for an apology from him. He chuckled inwardly at the stupidity of the notion. “You do know that the last thing people will hear from me is an apology.” Well, a sincere one at least. “Oh so you are the filthy weather manipulator who has conveniently changed the weather to match your mood. How’d that work out for you then? Ever cared how innocent people outside are being affected by your rather selfish outburst?” Another one of Zac’s specialties – returning the blame to the others. While technically it may be true, everybody knows Avery’s been provoked by the boy. “Oh, so what now? Should I tremble in fear and hide under my mom’s skirt?” taunted Zac, taking a sip from his drink. “Apparently hot cocoa is lovely during cold weather. Want some?” he said, smirk still in his face, offering her his cup like nothing happened.

The strong wind blew the windows open. Avery's hair blew in the wind. Blowing in front of her face and Avery's cheeks reddened. Her anger was becoming out of control. Hails balls where flying in the window, Avery just wished that one would hit him in the face. "Why do you enjoy infuriating me? I know its not my fault that the weather is out of control. Its not my fault because I can't control it." Avery's posted was very stiff, her fists started to turn white. This was a very knew sensation for her. It felt similar to the night of the tornado. Her head was pounding and her body was crying for a release of emotions.

"Ugh! I just want to hit you so bad! Your like my brother! always prodding me always trying to get a reaction! Well you got your reaction let me tell you! Sixteen years of bent up frustration, of anger all coming out! Your a b@$t@&d" Avery stomped her way closer to him. "You know how bad I just want to hurt you, to punch you in the face. I'm not normally like this but your brought out something in me that I have never seen or felt. However I have never been in trouble in school and I don't plain on it." Avery walked over to the window and tried to take a deep breath.
