Bed & Breakfast (May)

The first night at Ant and May's place had been quite comfortable. He was glad to be in a bigger bed now, rather than the small thing back in his dorm with inhumanely thin duvets and zero extra blankets. The heating worked too, which was a plus. The only thing that had caught his attention that night was the creaking footsteps he had heard. If the place was haunted they could of at least told him first? Or was that another household thing? Ashley did get to sleep all right, and had a peculiar dream about the different ways he could ask May out, and what he could do in the morning for her birthday. He also had a really weird epiphany. It was Ant, repeating what he had said about the ring 'only if you date her,', and between every time he said it, he saw a moment in time where May had acted just a little to friendly. Once at the front door, once in the cafeteria, and the fact she hadn't screamed at him when he had opened the door to the bathroom while she was going to take a shower. Then there was everything he had felt along the way. He had woken up feeling completely different about her. He didn't know what it was, but he didn't feel like they were friend any longer, but something... more.
Ash had woken up slowly, it was still dark, and he had an odd sensation- his left was much warmer than his right, and he had something across his stomach. He opened his eyes and looked across. His hear froze, his eyes wide in shock. Oh jeez, what the hell was he supposed to do if Ant walked in. To be honest, he didn't seem all that worried. He actually smiled as May snuggled up to him in her sleep, her hair spread out over the bed like a chocolate river, some of the strands tickled the inside of his arm. He sat up and cradled her, bushing the hair back from her eyes. He kissed her forehead before he picked her up and tucked her into her own bed. Needless to say, he was glad he had worn his track suit bottoms for tonight. Otherwise things could have gotten awkward. He stood and stretched, yawning before opening his suit case and slipping on a lose shirt. He thought he remembered something Ant had told him once... oh yeah. May loved toasted waffles and orange juice. Ashley had a brainstorm, and knew exactly how to treat a princess on her birthday. He made his way downstairs, and it took him a minuet or two to find his way around the kitchen. Right, he knew how to make them, didn't he? Yes! A very quick and yet effective way. He -personally- blamed his days alone in his dorm. Thank god he finally had someone work all those years of maddening solitude. He felt unusually happy, almost dancing around the kitchen and he made everything from scratch (only the food, not the toaster or the glasses). After he'd begun to toast the home-made waffles for his little princess, he found smoothie maker and promptly peeled three or four oranges and removed any seeds, and then placed the in blender and prepared orange juice, tasting it first before pouring it into a glass and fetching a large plate. He dished it all up and fetched the roses from Ant's room very quietly, along with the ring in its box. He placed the two along side each other on a tray, next to the plate and the glass of juice. He made his way carefully into May's room, setting it all down on her bedside cabinet. He sat on the side of the bed and leaned over, kissing her temple before brushing her hair out the way and whispering into her ear.
"Wake up, May," he said, "happy seventeenth birthday."
