As Cat waited for Xavier to catch up she started walking again towards food, wherever that was. Cat laughed, she was directionally challenged as they came. She stopped when Xavier started coming up towards her. He ran past her then stopped, putting out an arm to touch her. Cat stared at the arm then him. “ Did you need something, Xavier?” Cat asked, but was cut off when he started talking. He thought she was adorable? That did not make any sense. Cat sighed and looked at him again. The next few things that came out of his mouth utterly left Cat speechless. She really could not say anything. He was trying to ask her out? What? A small frown began to form. She was not really comprehending this. Honestly she did not get it. When he said that about the book she was really happy, but then he started in on the nonsense again. Cat tried to look away from him but couldn’t. Cat was not really, sure just what to do about this, but she was sure that this was not something she could just ignore. Cat again was surprised that he was asking her out. Again she was speechless. She really had not seen this coming.

Cat blushed at what she heard coming out of the mouth of Xavier. Cat quietly pulled the shall around herself, as if to hide. She pulled out her notebook and began to write, “ Xavier wait.” Cat then wrote a story of a girl unsure, a girl with many complications in her life. She was always looking from the outside in. The girl was never one to understand people, never one to be able to fit in. She was confronted with the same situation in her book, someone coming up to her and acting like Xavier was. The main character thought it was a joke, she was afraid to get hurt. A million emotions ran through her head and mind. At the end of the story the main character was asked the same things, that cat had been asked. Cat made the main character say….. “ Fine.” Cat blushed. She wasn’t used to this. “ Where are we by the way?” cat turned around and pretended to look around lost, it is true that they were lost to cat but in actually she was hiding the already spreading blush.

Xavier read the short story and smiled. She really was adorable and sweet. He knew that he was going to have to take things slow and gentle. He leaned in and pushed a lock of her hair from her face. "One, I will never hurt you, after all I am the dragon right? I need to protect my princess. Two, you are so pretty, so please don't hide from me." It was funny to think that he was actually being this nice to someone other than his sister. But in a way he saw his sister in Catherine. Only his sister was definitely not the shy and quiet type. He thought about everything that was going threw his mind. He suppressed a laugh as he thought. This would be one of his first actual dates. Most of the time he just calls up girls and asks them to come to his room for a quickie. This was definitely not one of those times.

Xavier turned and looked towards Hammel. Then back at Cat. He held out his hand and smiled politely. "We are at the pond. Will you hold my hand? I'll take you back to Hammel so we can go eat. Unless you wanted to order in or go out for food. It's up to you." He wondered if she would even take his hand or not.

Cat felt his hand on her head, pushing back her bangs. Cat was not very good at this. She seemed to be at a loss of words for the most part. She wondered just what Xavier thought he saw in her. She wasn’t special or anything, she wasn’t the best at anything. Cat sighed. She was never going to get used to this was she? Cat heard the dragon and the princes comment and scrunched up her face, “I’m sorry but I am still the royal advisor. I was never planning on making my self the main character, in anything really. “ Sure he was the dragon, but which one was he? Cat looked up to Xavier as she was considerably shorter then he was, “But I like hiding. In fact I am pretty good at it.”

Cat shifted her head to the side. “Oh so that’s where we are. The pond.” Cat looked at Xavier when he held out his hand, almost as if he was pulling her into an unknown world, a world where she had no business to belong. Cat looked down. “Lets get pizza.” Cat smiled. She happened to like pizza. It was good and yummy. Silently she took his hand and pulled. “Well lets go before my poor stomach starts to yell.”

Xavier smiled again. "Your the main character right now Catherine." He chuckled as they took off towards the school. "Anything you wants sweetheart." Xavier was going to try as hard as he could to get her to open up more and stop being so shy. "So we are ordering in I guess? Your dorm or mine?" He wondered how well that was going to go over. He figured she would be way too shy or embarrassed to go into his dorm with him.

Cat shook her head a t the main character comment. “ Ha-ha I’ll believe it when I see it, and I prefer to be the minor character, we get away with a lot more.” Cat began to walk away but realized that he was still holding her hand. Cat slowed down some staring at the somehow connection between the two. Xavier’s comment jolted her out of her daydream. “ Ok my name is Catherine, Cat or Cath, none of this sweetheart business.” Cat started to walk faster. She was hungry. “How bout we go out? I happen to live in the girls dorm thank you. And they are quite strict, no boys, that includes you.” Cat was totally missing the undertones of what was going on for Xavier. “And besides, there is no room in my room. Most of it is books anyway.”

Xavier shook his head. "I will call you Cat for now but I will give you a nickname later. But since you are sooo hungry." Xavier gave a mischeivious smile as he ran and picked her up. Carefully he swung her around so he was giving her a piggy back ride. "I was trying to be gentlemen like and asked your promision for everything but since you want food fast then this is how it shall be. And I have a co-ed dorm if you want to watcha movie Cat." He smiled as he tried to walk as fast as he could and his smile got bigger when his feet hit pavement.

Cat did not notice the smirk that had hit Xavier’s face, soon Cat felt herself being picked up. She was not ever going to get used to this. She did not like being picked up in the least. Not by anyone. In fact she really hated it. “Xavier put me down. I walk by my self you know.” If he did not put her down she would start hitting him on the head with a book. She had done it before and she would do it again. Cat shrugged at gentleman thing. She knew that it was not going to go anywhere’s she did not want it to and frankly she was hesitant and thinking that this was not going to go anywhere. She had no clue what Xavier saw in her, and they had just met. Cat sighed again and tried to look menacing while glaring at the boy beneath her.

Cat looked at Xavier when he suggested that they go to his dorm. She shook her head. She didn’t really want to, and she was almost positive that she would get lost trying to go back to her dorm. Frankly she would rather go out, but seeing the look on Xavier’s face stopped her as she was trying to say this. Cat laughed, I mean really laughed. It looked as if the dragon has grown puppy eyes. Laughing Cat said “Hmm it depends on the movie. Which movie would it be?” Cat did not think he would try to do anything. She felt a least a little bit safe.

Xavier stopped and let Cat down. "I know you don't see your self as a main character but today is your day. You can pick the movie and the pizza toppings" Xavier was bound and determined to get her to show him what was underneath her skin. The smarts and feisty-ness that he thought he saw. Xavier sighed and reached into his pocket. He smiled at cat as he pulled out a cigarette and pop it in his mouth. Lightning it he took a big inhale. Maybe he could go out tonight. After all his ability let him go get beer whenever he decided, even though he was only seventeen. He wondered what Cat would think when she found out that he uses his ability like that. Coming to the conclusion that she wouldn't like it he just decided he won't say anything.

He looked ahead of him and smiled. "We are getting closer to the school now. You sure I can't carry you Cat?" He said taking another drag of his cigarette.

Cat was happy that she was let down. She turned around as she dusted herself off. She turned around to see Xavier lighting up a cigarette. She frowned. Cat did not like the smell of them and they were bad for your health. Cat felt it appropriate to ignore the main character comment. She was not going to believe it. And frankly she kind of did not want to. Cat coughed slightly as Xavier started to smoke. Reaching into her bag and pulling out a blueberry lollipop, she unwrapped it behind her back, to not let Xavier see. If she was going to pull this off she was going to have to have to be quick about it.

“Xavier, I honestly don’t know what I want to watch.” Walking closer to Xavier Cat turned around suddenly, grabbed the cigarette and placed the lollipop in his mouth before he could react. “No smoking” Cat said with a smile. “Smoking bad for your health.” Cat turned around and smiled at him again. Cat smashed the cigarette on the ground, before Xavier could get it again. She turned around once that I was done. “No you can’t carry me I am fully capable of walking by myself.”

Xavier blinked. She really put a lollipop in his mouth. He watched as she smashed his cigarette on the ground. Sighing he looked up at the girl. After he saw that he knew he was right, she did have some feisty-ness in her. Shaking his head he got close to her and pulled the lollipop out of his mouth. "Well we can see what movies are on the t.v. or what movies I have in my room. I'm sure I should have something you like." Taking his other hand he wrapped in around her and pulled her body to his. He looked down into her eyes and smiled. "That wasn't very nice. But I like seeing that side of you. Its nice." He leaned down and placed a kiss on her cheek. Xavier brought his face back up and prepared for the worst. He thought maybe he went to far and she would slap his face. Then again that would only encourage him.

Cat watched Xavier with a smug look. Yes she had just done that. Laughing at the look on his face cat began walking towards Hammel again, only to have Xavier come up closer to her. She was still laughing when he talked bout the movie. Finally calming down Cat replied “Hmm, you have Knight and Day? Or Despicable me? Or even” Cat was interrupted when Xavier grabber her other hand and pulled her close. Puzzled she looked up at him “yes?” Cat questioned. Cat laughed. “Don’t smoke around me then if you don’t want to have lollipops shoved into your mouth.” Cat smirked. “Smoking is bad for you. Don’t do it around me.”

Cat was cut of when Xavier bent down and kissed her on the cheek. Shell shocked Cat just stood there for a minute. Then she came to her sense and pushed him away. Cat still shocked grabbed her bag and began walking away from him. He confused her and her emotions. She took her shawl and put it up around her head. He kissed her. What? Cat began to walk faster and faster until she came to a bench and sat down. She needed time to think.

Xavier reached his arm out to stop her. "Cat wait! I won't smoke around you now please stop?" After she didn't he shook his head. Why did this have to be complicated. Xavier jogged at his fasted speed after her. He looked around and found her sitting on a bench. He sighed in relief. Walking over to her he took in a deep breath. He squatted down in front of her and looked down at his feet. "Sweetheart..I mean Cat. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. I really didn't. You want the cigarettes gone they are gone. I won't smoke around you or even near you. Please just talk to me?" He looked back up at her. His face was sad. What was going on? Xavier had no clue.

Cat was out of it as she sat down on the bench. The thoughts running through her head. She tried to think, to calm herself. 10...9..8...7..6..5.. There she was calm. Now what happened Catherine, did that really happen, he was serious? I thought he was just joking around. Cat put her hands up by her head as if to focus on one thought. She did not notice when Xavier came up, until he started talking.

She looked up at him. Did he really like her? Silently Cat looked at him as he came over and squatted in front of her. Cat scrunched up her nose when he started to say sweetheart, but he changed it so Cat un-scrunched it. She listened to him, He seemed to have no clue about what was running through her mind. Silently, Cat moved herself so she was looking face to face at him. “Why?” Cat had no idea why he had followed her, why he had said he liked her, why he had kissed her. Cat honestly had no idea. “Why?” Cat waited for him to respond.

Xavier sighed. "Because I think your voice is pretty? Because your a wizard at writing. Your a challenge. A code to break. I like challenges. Your one of the few girls I have met that I actually wanted to get to know. Most girls are not like you. Just like me. Who gets all tattooed up and would ask a girl like you out? Me. Everyone is unique in some ways Cat." Xavier stood up but kept looking at her. "I like you and I want to be with you. I'm willing to take it slow to a point. Meaning I want to hold your hand and at least kiss you. Even if I have to settle for your cheek." Xavier walked over and sat on the bench. Leaving some space between them.

"Besides I think you have spunk. " Xavier smiled at the girl. He wondered what was going threw her head.

Cat watched him waiting for a reason. She was not the most social of people and had no idea what to do. None at all. Cat listened to him. She had never thought her voice was pretty. As Xavier continued on Cat began to blush. She may not be a code, a challenge but she was a bit out there. A girl like me? Cat blushed more when Xavier started in on the fact about being one of the few girls he wanted to get to know. She was not used to this. And what did tattoos have to do with anything? Cat could care less if he had tattoos or not. Cat frankly thought that they were kind of cool, in a way, that she would never get one but it was cool anyways.

“You know, we have only known each other for a couple of hours. I honestly do not know how you are able to like me in the way you are suggesting, with only having spent a few hours with me. I honestly don’t understand it. You make my emotions go crazy, Mr. Dragon. Half the time I don’t know what I am feeling like. The other half everything is so jumbled up I can’t concentrate and I say and do things I would normally never do.” Cat laughed slightly. A girl like me huh? Looking down Cat realized that he wasn’t done talking. Looking back up Cat immediately looked down when she heard the next few things out of his mouth. Cat was fine with holding hands, she had no clams about that but he wanted to kiss her, Cat shook her head and smiled. “Your Crazy you know that?”

Inching closer to Xavier cat pulled out a lollipop out of her bag. One for her and one for him. Silently she offered it to him. This was her way of saying sorry, of saying “You’ll have to deal with someone who has no idea what they are doing I hope you know that.” Cat smiled and popped her lollipop into her mouth, waiting for what he would say.
