Just Another Marionette (Rhys)

[Rhys Rockwood]

"I guess I'll plan for you to move in soon. Better start moving stuff out of your way. Closet space is going to be necessary for you, I'm sure." Rhys laughed a little. "Don't worry about your brother. Hammel will keep him around until he's not a danger to himself, and they'll likely get tough on him soon. And if they don't, we can start kicking his ass into shape." He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly for a moment. "Things are gonna be okay."

Rhys checked on the food a little, thinking it was getting close to ready. He was sure as hell ready to eat. "So dinner...then we're going to a movie or for a drive or something. Just to mix up our evening plans a little." Smiling, he started plating some food to get to eating. Quickly, there were two plates of food, one considerably more loaded than the other, resting on the counter in front of stools. "Eat up. It looks good."

"He's just such a headache." She sighed and laid her curly haired head on his shoulder as he held her. He was right, Hammel would take care of all of it. If he didn't want to speak with her and simply hated her, then she diddn't have to handle him. Braxton didn't have to be her problem. Sinking into the safe embrace of the man she was learning to love, Sawyer let all thoughts of her family issues fall away. "I don't need that much closet space." She laughed a little. "Alright.... maybe a lot..."

Pulling away she helped finish dinner and looked up at him shocked at what he'd said. She was glad he'd been serving them as she'd have more than likely dropped it all on the floor. "Excuse me?!" Blinking a little she shook her head and found them some forks as he put the plates out. Had she miss heard??? Confusion swept her face for a while as she sat down on the stool.

"Was that supposed to be sarcastic??" Taking the smaller of the two, she stabbed her fork into it and toyed with the noodles. "Or are you being serious?? I can't really tell...Rhys.... We don't go out.... Remember?? Cuz we'll be seen... and you'll be fired??" She looked at him a little perplexed by what he'd said.

"It won't be a big deal. You can go over first, get your ticket, and go on in. I'll come in a few minutes later, grab some popcorn or whatever. I'll see you in the theater, and we can totally act as if it's just a coincidence we're at the same place at the same time," Rhys said with a shrug before starting to eat. The food went down quickly as always, but Rhys was really shoveling it down. He hadn't eaten enough earlier apparently, and he was feeling the tell-tale drag of his power eating at him.

"If you really don't think it's a good idea, we can just stay in. I just thought it would be nice to do something fun and a little risky. Add some danger to things. If it frustrates you...just take it out on me later." Rhys smirked and ate some more, not really concerned about one 'incidental' run-in with a student off campus. At worst, he might get some sort of informal reprimand for accidental fraternizing with a student, but it wasn't like they'd be caught doing anything in the movie theater.

She was rather happy he wanted to go out and break their pattern. But Sawyer had never been a movie kind of person. Sure when she was twelve maybe. But boys often liked to make out durring the movies she wanted to watch and she often wanted to make out durring the movies boys wanted to watch. Eating as she normally did (shoving the food around the plate and taking a bite every so often) Sawyer watched him shovel away at his food. Man could he eat!!!!

"Movies are nice, but the drive sounds more romantic." She smiled at him and took a bite. It was actually really good which encouraged her to eat a little more than normal, though she knew later her stomach would hate her for it. "We could go somewhere quiet and out of the way. No one would see us. We wouldn't have to take seperate cars. It saves on movie ticket prices." She smiled and put her legs across his lap and grinned. "We can take a blanket and a bottle of wine.."

Rhys smiled between bites of food; the idea was more enticing. "Then we'll do that instead. A blanket and wine are things I happen to have...should probably be having some with dinner, actually. Guess the wine can wait now that we have some plans." Rhys set his fork down then put his hand on Sawyer's leg, slowly running his hand back and forth over her. When he thought about it, they were more likely to act inappropriately at the end of the drive than in a movie theater. The thought greatly amused him since he'd done the makeout in the movies thing a lot growing up.

Rhys finished up his food and quickly moved the used dish and silverware to the sink, something else he'd put off until later. Looking back, he had a tendency to put little work things off while she was around. 'That could make her moving in quite interesting if I just stop working entirely,' he thought with a smirk, knowing there was no way he could manage that and stay in a relationship with her. He'd have to do something to keep his apartment in decent looking condition. "We'll get going whenever you're ready."

Shifting the food around a little more at a time, Sawyer smiled at him. She was actually very excited to be going somewhere with him. But she was suddenly aware that she was only in the sweats and sweat shirt that she had thrown on after her post rehearsal shower. Handing him her dishes she smiled. "Here, take care of those and I'll go change really quick okay?"

Giving him a quick peck on the cheek she hopped up and snatched her bag from beside the door. Lucky for Rhys, Sawyer wasn't the kind of girl who took three hours to get ready just to check the mail. Though she wasn't the type to just throw on clothes and hope to look decent. She did put a little thought into it, but her theory was if you spent twenty minutes trying to pick between outfit a and outfit b..... then you really didn't want to wear either of them as much as you thought in the first place. Needless to say Sawyer had her clothes already packed and ready to go and was never fussy over her hair. Aside from the fact that it was a mess of waves and curls, it usually only ended up down and matted by the end of the night anyway.

Emerging from the bathroom, Sawyer had changed and was now perfectly ready to go. Smiling she shook her keys at him. "Who's driving?" she thought about it for a second and then looked at him. "Do you even drive at all???" She didn't think she'd ever seen him drive...Let alone did she even know if he had a car. He ran all over the place. Maybe he didn't drive.

Rhys dumped her dishes in the sink and turned the faucet on while he grabbed a blanket from a closet, setting it on a chair next to the door. They'd have to grab the wine on the drive. He pulled out a pair of wine glasses and set them with the blanket. That seemed like enough for their drive and time outside. He only to wait a few more moments before Sawyer came back out, now in other clothes. He quickly licked his lips, saying, "Mmm, you really have to stop making yourself look that good. Gonna drive me insane at this rate."

He stepped up to her and kissed her before snatching the keys out of her hand. "I am, and we're taking your car. It's nicer than mine." Rhys slid his other arm around her and kissed her again before walking to the door with her. He picked up the blanket-wrapped glasses and held them under his arm, letting them out of the apartment and locking it behind him. "I'll stop and pick up some wine first, then we can drive wherever looks nice."

Sawyer grinned as he kissed her. She loved his kisses. Letting him have the keys and more kisses, she walked with him and turned to wait as he locked up. Nerves and excitement fired through her brain as she looked over her shoulder. Wanting to hold his hand she thought better of it in case anyone were passing by.

Walking out to her car she got in after he unlocked their doors, and threw her purse and a pair of well worn ballet shoes into the back. Getting in she smiled at him and let her hand hover over the volume control to the radio for a second before remembering that she had turned it down today. When he was in and ready she rested her hand on his thigh and smiled. "Get a decent wine. No gross cheep wine." Laughing she leaned back into her seat and sighed. "OH!!! careful with the accelerator, its a little touchy." She grinned. That or maybe Sawyer liked to drive faster than she was supposed to.

Getting in the car, he set the blanket and glasses in the back, already knowing where he was picking up the wine from. Rhys smiled as he turned the ignition and revved the engine once. "Right. Touchy accelerator. Gotcha." His grin found it's way to Sawyer for a short moment. He laughed a little bit as shifted the car to reverse and checked his mirrors before shooting out of the space and launching from the parking lot after a quick shift.

After a quick stop to pick up a bottle of pricier wine and put a large dent in Rhys' wallet, he was back in the car with Sawyer, and the unwise couple left more calmly for a nice night out driving and relaxing on a blanket under the stars for a while.
