The Weather Always Changes (NY)(Ella/Open)

Why the weather? Why me? Why am I not normal?

These are the questions that Jenny asked herself every morning when she woke up, dressed in her light colored preppy clothes, ate her veggie bagel in her nice home and headed to normal private school. Jenny asked these questions because she actually wasn’t normal. She looked normal with long straight brown hair, a nice complexion and a big smile that she gave to be friendly. But Jenny wasn’t normal. Whenever Jenny got angry or happy or sad the weather would change. It may of sounded cool but it wasn’t. Jenny thought it was cool when she was happy that the sun would come out and than the gym class would be outside. But last month something horrible happened.

Jenny got angry, very very angry. And she freaked. And than a tornado happened. A long one that lasted three hours and finally after Jenny calmed down it went away. Jenny promised herself that she would never get angry again but she couldn’t. It snowed on days that it was supposed to be sunny, hailed on days it was supposed to be windy and huge thunderstorms on days it was supposed to be hailing. From than on Jenny just went with it, hoping it would just go away.

That’s why she was ignoring the hail that was banging against the window in her Biology class. Today it was supposed be sunny but because of Jenny’s worry and depression it started hailing after lunch. She was worried that one day a government agent would come and take her to Area 51. She was becoming paranoid and scared. So today Jenny just wrote notes from the board quietly and her textbook watching the clock, hoping the bell was coming soon.

Ella usually packed light, no matter where she went. But when she heard she was going to New York of all places, her urge to stay over even after the initial recruitment was strong. But against her will, she packed the standard business suit, her sleeping attire and her essentials into her small sling bag. Before she left, she looked at the dark red dress hanging in her closet longingly before nudging it close with her foot.

It was fortunate that she never forgot to bring her music player with her so the plane ride was not a complete bust. But when she landed at La Guardia airport, Ella was a little bit steamed and tired. Her legs were jelly-like and her head spun but she drove her rental anyway to where her newest recruit was. Her powers came to life once she saw the hail outside the private institution. The meta was too far away for Ella to manipulate her powers so she drove carefully, parking the rental at the curb.

The recruiter had called Jenny Parker's parents earlier to meet them at their home while Ella picked the younger woman from school.

Striding into the building, Ella smoothed down her dark blue slim fitting jacket, fastening the two buttons so she looked more presentable before heading to the office where with a few choice words, the intercom sounded for Jenny to come over to the office. Ella sat down and waited for the girl. Ella could feel her coming nearer as the weather seemed to dissipate.

Once the girl arrived, Ella stood up with her most charming smile and extended her hand. "Good afternoon, Miss Parker. My name is Ella Tate. I'm here to escort you back home. There are things we must discuss."

When the intercom called Jenny down to the office some people started whispering. Jenny just left, her teacher telling her to come back after school to take down the rest of the notes and homework. The halls were empty and when Jenny entered the office she didn't expect to be alone with a tall woman in a business suit. The woman smiled, extended her hand and introduced herself as Ella. Ella told her they had to go home. Jenny just sat down, wondering what was going on.

"Um...am I in trouble?" asked Jenny, as she started fidgeting.

The woman seemed nice but Jenny wasn't going to tell her anything unless she talked first.

Jenny Parker's first words made Ella smile gently at the girl with a slow shake of her head. "Of course not. You seriously don't have to...worry too much?" Ella said with a tiny nod towards the window, indicating the weather.

"It would be best if we go to my car, drive back to your mom and dad? I've already called them from work." Ella gestured to the door, her smile still intact.

When Jenny was told that she wasn't in trouble she relaxed until the woman indicated towards the window to the weather. Jenny froze and had to act quickly. She could do many things; yell, freakout, deny it or just run away. Jenny decided to choose the third thing. Denial is always the best thing in these circumstances, her inner voice told her.

"Why did you call them if I'm not in trouble?" asked Jenny, pretending to not know anything she meant.

Ella was prepared for Jenny's denial. Much like how she handled her first few recruits, the smile on her face never wavered.

"Oh, having your parents around will help ease the transition that is all. Make you feel more comfortable. I've already signed your release forms, all you need to do is follow me out. The rain seems to be lessening, hopefully?" Ella looked at Jenny pointedly. No reason to say things out loud, especially since civilians were still around.

Jenny decided that denial wasn't working. She stood up and shook her head. Time for option two. Freaking out.

"No no no! I am not a freak. I don't care who hears me. This..." Jenny pointed out the window, "Will go away and if you follow me or try and talk to my and tell them parents I will... deny it until a tornado kills me. Just... leave me alone. My life is fine and perfect. I'm going to Yale, becoming a lawyer and marrying Jensen Ackles."

Jenny chest was going up and down. She sat back down and looked at the floor, hoping the woman would just give up and leave her alone. Please don't ruin anything, Jenny thought.

Both the clerk and Ella looked at the girl as she started to lose her cool, speaking nonsense and probably in code [according to the clerk anyway. Jensen Ackles? What is that?]. Ella maintained her composure and finally concentrated her suppressing powers on Jenny. "I think Jensen Ackles is already married. To that redhead from One Tree Hill?" The dark haired recruiter gave the younger woman a little smile. Wasn't she grateful she heard gossip every now and then?

"Would you like me to call your parents for you? Let them talk to you?"

Jenny groaned and was getting very angry. Usually it would rain and hail heavilly. Jenny pointed at the lady, wishing she would get the message.

"No. I am not calling my parents, telling them about this and anything about me changing the weather," said Jenny loudly, "Just... leave me alone."

She turned to leave and saw... light rain. That was weird. Usually Jenny would have to cover her head from chunks of hail. She looked at the woman confused.

"Are you doing that?" She asked.

Lazily, her eyes went down to the finger pointed at her before Ella's mismatched eyes went back to the younger woman, smile never wavering even as she started to yell. Ella should shut her up but there was no way teenagers would actually listen to strangers. Especially strangers who were talking about bringing them away from school.

When realization dawned on Jenny, Ella's smile turned soft. The hope was that with that information, the girl would finally calm down enough to know Ella could be trusted. It was a long shot and it might even go the opposite direction, leaving Ella minus one recruit and a bad blemish on her record. But no, she won't allow herself to fail.

"I know exactly how you're feeling right now Jenny. Your confusion, your anger...I know." Ella's voice was smooth, comforting. All her training was being put into this recruiting. "Just come home. Have your parents by your side...it will get a lot less worrying."

Jenny pouted, like she always did when she never got something she wanted. It usually worked on her father, her mom, best friends and boyfriends. And she wished it would work on this woman.

"But... but I don't want them to know about this," said Jenny, "I'll... go wherever you want but I won't tell them. I'll tell them that I was accepted into a very prestigious school and it's a boarding school. Move to... wherever it is and learn to control my... powers. Agreed?"

Jenny held out her hand, to make the agreement final.

Ella was not prepared for the pout. In any other circumstance, she would have flailed and run away but this was business and she was a complete professional.

As Jenny tried to bargain with Ella about her situation, the dark haired recruiter had already made up her mind. One way or another, Jenny was getting in the car and going off to Hammel.

She was not in the business of lying and so far she was glad she never did. Which was why she was going to have to disappoint the girl even further. "Miss Parker, please follow me to the car. We can discuss this more privately?"

Jenny sighed, finally happy. Not completely happy but glad that this woman wouldn't lie to her and they were going to tell her parents that she got accepted to a very good school. Not that she had powers. Jenny left the office, Ella following. Jenny got to her locker on the way and grabbed her things, not going to empty her locker until later.

They continued walking in silence to the entrance. School was about to end for lunch. They would be watching as Jenny left, probably thinking she was being arrested or kidnapped. But no it was so much worse.

"So... where is the school?" asked Jenny after ten minutes of silence as they entered the parking lot, "And what's it like?"

When Jenny followed her quietly, Ella couldn't help but be on her guard. The girl was in pleated skirts and Mary Janes and if she started running or decided to use her powers, Ella would not be surprised.

The younger woman's question brought forth a smile on Ella's face. "Up in the mountains. Beautiful place. Much like a regular boarding school only you gotta deal with the occasional fire drills which aren't for practice either." Ella spoke fondly of her alma mater as they finally got to her rental Hyundai.

She opened the door for Jenny before getting in herself. She managed to lock the car door before Jenny changed her mind and soon enough they were on the road to Jenny's home. Ella kept up the small talk throughout the journey and once they arrived at her place, Ella's powers were still very much active and her guard still very much up.

"Please, go first." Ella gestured for Jenny to walk up first. So if the girl was thinking of running, at least Ella had a good distance on her.

Jenny walked to her house, taking out her keys and unlocking the door. Even if her parents were here they would still have the door locked. She opened the door and closed it after Ella entered. The house was very elegant and prestigious. A perfect house for a perfect family.

"I'm not going to run as long as you keep your promise," said Jenny as she put her coat away and her bag and took off her shoes.

She entered the living room, her father sitting in front of the television with mute on reading a newspaper. The sound of cooking from the kitchen where Jenny's mom was. Jenny smiled and her dad stood up, walking over to her to hug her.

"Hi daddy," said Jenny as she hugged him tight.

"There she is," said George, he looked at Ella and smiled, holding out his hand, "I'm George Parker. You must be the woman I spoke to. I hope our little JenJen isn't in trouble."
