Powers: Ink manifestation - Basically, anything that is drawn with ink or a similar medium(like paint, henna, marker, blood), he can extract a tangible object from it in the shape of what it is drawn into. Pencil, chalk, and charcoal(or similar mediums) will not work. Objects he extracts come out at the same size in which they are drawn, but are sham versions of the real thing and break easily, in which case it is lost forever. He can put the objects back onto the canvas from which they were extracted. He cannot manifest living things. eg. a picture of a realistic cat will come out as a stuffed cat or figurine, not as a real cat.

It is easier for Oriel to pull on object from a picture than it is for him to put it back, which requires more concentration. Using his ability tends to cause muscle aches, usually in his hands when extracting, and nosebleeds when he's reversing the process.

Just as a note, Oriel’s sister is supposed to have abilities that complement Oriel’s, but just to be clear, they are not a gestalt pair.

General Appearance:

Stands at 5'9" and weighs a good 150lbs. He has these dark eyes that seem to look right through you and have a depth to them that really isn't there. He keeps his dark hair long, just below the ears, and poofy. He's not quite sure why he likes it like that, only that it's fun to play with. He's got a smile that's a little bit(or a lot a bit) cocky but can be just as sweet as pastries he eats, especially when he's honestly happy. Oriel's pretty face gives away his youth. His jaw is slender, lips are full, and eyebrows thick. His skin is a gentle dark olive, which tans beautifully and rarely burns.

He walks with a swagger and tends to slouch when he stands, with his hands stuffed in his pockets, giving off a defensive air. When he's relaxing, he tends to be like a cat, falling asleep in almost any position like it was the most comfortable thing in the world. Yeah, he falls asleep easily, standing up, at his desk, etc etc. Despite being so damn lazy, Oriel actually keeps himself in shape and is pretty athletic. Not so much muscle-popping-body-building, but more streamlined, like a runner or a swimmer......definitely more like a runner, and balance like a gymnast, which is really just the remnants of him always running through the streets and alleys of the city he grew up in.

His casual dress is collared shirts mostly, though keeps them a bit sloven, untucked, and sometimes unbuttoned, looking a bit like a shady salesman. Sometimes he'll expand his image to tanktops or other sleeveless type shirts, or just a simple t-shirt. Pants are usually black slacks or jeans straight up.

Personality:
Oriel is, to be honest, a bit of a brat. He’s selfish, lazy, and doesn’t like to be wrong, and will irrationally quibble his position long after he’s lost the argument. He likes to be the center of attention, but hates it when people get clingy. Oriel is a big butter-ball of contradictions. He doesn’t like people in his personal space, keeps them at arms length, but loves talking to people. He doesn’t like to be touched except by those he trusts completely, which if you manage to get past his brattiness, you’ll find it’s a lot easier to do than you’d think. And when he does find someone he cares for, he teases them, bullies them, and argues with them for the sake of arguing, but still gets damn childishly possessive of them, easily getting jealous of that person’s interactions with others.

Oriel likes to have fun, though his concept of fun could use some analysis. He’s a lot more enjoyable to be around when he’s happy, and he’s happiest when his ego’s getting the attention it needs to grow. Otherwise he gets bored and cranky easy and will go off and “find” something fun to do. Unfortunately, his searching usually ends with him getting caught up in a bad situation or just plain in trouble.

Oriel was in the foster care system for as long as he can remember. He never really heard the story of who his parents were or how he came to be there, but it was all he ever knew. He has vague memories of his twin sister who was with him up until they were five years old. Oriel remembers that they were close, pretty much inseparable, but that they were ultimately separated when a family chose to adopt the girl, Orin. Oriel was kept as a ward of the state for the next 9 years, right up until his powers first manifested.

He probably never would have realized he was a meta-human had he not met Rudolfo, aka Abuelo. Oriel was never interested in art or drawing(he still isn’t, actually), so it could have been a lot longer before anyone else even realized either. Oriel had gotten into some trouble and was on the run from some street kids when he ducked into the old cuban’s shop, where he was almost immediately kicked out by the owner. Oriel was impressed by the wicked designs the tattoo artist had displayed on his walls, however, and he came back even though he was always told to leave. His persistence eventually paid off and Rudolfo started treating the kid like an errand-boy, doing all sort of odd jobs and favors for the old man, and allowing him to hang out in the shop so long as he didn’t touch anything he wasn’t supposed to.

Oriel managed to make it 4 months doing just that. But one day his curiosity got the better of him and the stupid kid tried to get a better look at one of the fancy dagger drawing Rudolfo had high on the wall. Skip ahead a few moments, and Rudolfo find the young boy flat on his back holding a tangible version of one of Rudolfo’s pictures. Things happened very quickly from there, it took no more than a week for Hammel associates to come pick up Oriel from his current foster home and arrange for his enrollment at the Hammel Institute. As a parting gift, Rudolfo gave him the tattoo on his back. He visits Oriel regularly. Oriel considers Rudolfo to be closest thing he ever had to a real parent, though official adoption has never been brought up.

Nothing...nothing...nothing to do...

So bored.

But doing stuff required work. Which required Oriel to activate his movement subroutines. Which he didn't really feel like doing.

Feel....did he actually feel anything? He could pretend to feel, sure. His program has learned how to mimic the actions associated with feeling. But did he actually feel those?

Who knew?

Anyway, cycling through those probabilities was a real pain in the ass. Yeah, who cares. "Shut up, mongrels. You're annoying," he communicated to a bunch of gremlins gnawing away on the circuitry of some abandoned hospital server. Ah, well. Oriel at least had the capability of designating something as bothersome or too much trouble for his "attentions", so what did it matter if any of it was real or not. It was real to him.

Him...was he actually a he?

Now there we go again. Get your ass up and go do something.

Apparently, his subroutines also included inner monologue-ing and referring to oneself in plurals.

Oriel hopped out of the CPU he was resting in and ventured out into the vestiges of cyberspace, vectoring towards the area surrounding The Black Sun. Maybe there'd be some rogue 2.0 users he could poke at there?
