Mei had decided to take a long walk through Pilot Ridge. The bank robbery was still fresh in her mind. While she knew she could and would have her older brothers help her deal with the memories - for the moment, she simply wanted to clear her thoughts. She was hoping the chill in the air and the change of scenery would do just that. She kept her shoulders straight and her head held high as she moved at a brisk pace. No matter what had happened recently, she refused to look or act like a victim.
She passed through various streets, not bothering to stop and take in the surroundings until she realized that none of the scenery was familiar. Her hand instantly went to her purse, fishing through it until she pulled out her cell phone. Embarrassment kept her from calling her brother, Chuck, and she used the internet instead. A quick search online brought up a map of the area and Mei tried to make sense of it, hoping to find her way to her brother's apartment. The map unfortunately led her to keep taking left turns, until she was literally walking in circles. With a frustrated stamp of her foot, Mei slid the phone back into her purse and began walking in a straight line.
Out of the corner of her eye, Mei noticed a man walking out of his home. It was a large house, leading Mei to assume he was a family man and therefore safe enough to approach for help. "Excuse me." Mei called out, walking closer. "Could I bother you for directions?"
