You Did What? (Chester.)

After the canteen debacle, Chester didn't feel like contacting Cameron. He was stupidly heartbroken over the fact, despite knowing how easily Cameron went from one person to another.

But that declaration meant something far more than a mere hookup. He wanted everyone to know he was involved with someone. Chester couldn't shake the disappointment he had been feeling for the past few days.

Even Alex was having trouble getting through to him and that was a difficult feat because Alex always knew exactly what to say. He even resorted to calling the family to ask Chester what was up. He was vague with them but they did cheer him up with some home stories. But that only served to make him home sick.

Eventually, though, Chester figured, he wasn't going to be mopey or Cameron would know something was wrong. And he didn't want Cameron to think anything was wrong so Chester resolved in making things right. Even if Cameron was probably still on cloud nine from getting an official boyfriend.

Purchasing three guitars from the shop they had visited last month, Chester hoped that it would make things a little less awkward for them. Maybe he could get guitar lessons in the wake and...maybe win Cameron back.

He wrapped up all the guitars in boxes and also bought cleaning supplies and some other stuff pertaining to a guitar and wrapped that in a box too before shipping it off to Hammel.

He waited a day after the sent date to send Cameron a message to let him know that the packages had arrived.

The box with the blue stripes is a must for you to have but the other three, you should pick on your own. Let me know which one you've chosen. He just hoped he hadn't blown any chance of reconciliation.

The text came back and it was vague but Chester was relieved that it came.

At home. Wanted to let you have a moment with them. He refrained from putting a smilie at the end as he got rolled in bed, sending the message to Cameron.

He didn't even think to be there because he knew if he did, and he saw that goofy smile on Cameron again that wasn't Chester's doing, he'd probably break something.

It was a tad embarrassing for Chester that even a text message that sounded vague but coming from Cameron made him so happy. He had to stop being so obsessive over his best friend. He just had to, for his own sanity. The boy was happily in a relationship, Chester couldn't be anything but happy for him.

It took him less than half an hour to get dressed and drive over to Hammel, straight to Cameron's dorm. The look on the blonde's face had Chester smiling even though the annoying sensation in his chest was on overdrive then.

He shrugged. "Just thought you deserved it." He didn't add in the fact that he wanted to say sorry for being absent, but the same thought kept pushing against his brain that Cameron didn't even take notice of his absence.

"Not if you want them too." Chester answered his next question. He leaned against the door frame, his eyes clouding over as he looked at Cameron in all his excitement. He knew he would have to leave soon before he did something he would regret later on.

"It makes all the sense in the world." Chester forced a grin on his face. "You've been my best friend for a good part of Hammel. I just thought you'd be someone who would appreciate this." He gestured towards the guitars.

"If you want me to." He nodded at Cameron's question about returning the guitars. He'd probably end up giving it away. He didn't want to go back to the store.

As Cameron went to get the strap to put on his new guitar, the smile that came to Chester was genuine when Cameron asked of his opinion. Without even thinking, he replied with: "Perfect." In that one word, he unwittingly put in the desire, the longing and the love he had for his best friend.

"Probably not." He shook his head at Cameron's statement. Sometimes he felt that Cameron was the mind reader, and not him. Either that or Chester was even more transparent than he originally thought he was.

He was so lost in his staring at Cameron that he didn't even realise the boy was talking to him. "Hmm?" He heard song so he assumed Cameron was going to write a song soon with his new guitar. "Excel-" he didn't get to finish his sentence as he was hugged.

He circled his arms around Cameron, tightening his hold around the blond and almost laying his head on his shoulder before stopping himself from doing it. Cameron was off the market. He had to remember that.

Patting the other boy's shoulder awkwardly, he released the blond and shook his head when Cameron said those words. "I don't expect you to. Just don't stop being my friend." There was a tinge of imploration in Chester's voice that he didn't think he could have expressed and he hoped that Cameron wouldn't catch on it.

"Good, good." Chester nodded, not taking into account the grin on his best friend's face.

When he was shaken, he couldn't help but laugh, Cameron's excitement truly infectious. "Yay new guitar." Chester laughed quietly as he stayed his ground. He knew if he got any closer, he would want to hug Cameron again and if he hugged the blonde, he'd want to kiss him...it was just better to stay away.

The offer for lunch had Chester nodding. He knew he shouldn't but he was a little hungry. The dilemma he had gotten himself into made him so mad at himself for even coming here at all.

"Uh...sure. Pizza sounds good right about now." He grinned. Although it faltered a bit when Cameron looked at him. Briefly, he contemplated on just reading his best friend's mind. But the boy had looked away just as fast.

If only Chester knew the true nature of Cameron's friendship, none of this would happen. Chester wouldn't have been so caught up in his own world, with his stupid problems and his stupid anger and stupid paranoia.

He turned away from Chester just in time for the frown to appear as they exited the room. The question from the blonde had Chester frowning this time and he slipped his hands in his pocket and avoided looking at the happy face Cameron had. "Heard what?" Chester asked, playing dumb.
