I'm Walking on Sunshine! (Oriel)

Oriel didn't often go into Pilot Ridge. For anything. He hated the crowds and throngs of people who didn't know where they were going and all he ever wanted was to get in and out fast as possible rather than window shop and end up getting run over by a bunch of mindless drones. But he needed....hell Oriel didn't even know what he needed to get with the small allowance he got from the state.

Clothes....something he could move easily in.

For dancing.

No....No! He wasn't here for that, he was just looking for....

Oriel couldn't finish his though of self-denial because he had somehow gotten too distracted and did see the catastrophe that happened right in front of him in time for the boy to move out of the way. Yes, he would've sooner let her fall flat on her face rather than actually try to catch her or let himself be her cushion. Oriel's knee's buckled and he fell down to his butt and skid onto his back across the tile mall floor. When she finally looked up, he gave her a death-glare, as if to say, watch where you're going you mongoloid Helen Keller.

Instead, though, he smirked and said, "You know, usually I let a girl buy me dinner first."

Well, that was a cute reaction. One of someone who was drowning in innocence. One that Oriel didn't usually bother with because that kind of innocence was usually associated with privilege. Not really worth his time or interest. At least it got her off him quickly, before he had to go ahead and shove her off himself.

Then she started in on that rapid girl-speak that tended to annoy him. Oriel grunted, a hardend scowl masked by a less scary scowl. "It's fine," he lied. Dammit, now he was even more irritated, this was why he didn't like the mall. When she turned around, Oriel was half ready to simply get up and walk past her and ignore the incident forever, content to let this encounter simply be an aggravating bout of bad luck. So long as he got in and got out of that wretched place, he didn't give a rats ass what she did next.

"Shit!" he said suddenly as he "tried" to get up, grabbing his right wrist with his other hand and falling back on his elbow. "Ow...shit. I think I twisted my wrist."

He scowled at her tease. "I meant when I fell, genius. The floor packs a bigger punch than you could ever dish out." Oriel narrowed his eyes as he sat himself up in a crossed legged sit, all while trying to avoid putting weight on his "injured" wrist.

Oriel had had enough injuries in the past to know how to fake it well enough. Climbing and running rambunctiously though the streets of NYC will do that to you. He glowered at the girl for a second before surrendering his wrist for inspection. There was no swelling, then again there still wouldn't be for a while if it were real. So all he could do was wince when she rotated it too far and tried bending it.

Oriel's mind raced to think of retorts, plausible reasons to keep this lie going. He didn't like this girl so far and definitely didn't like her teasing. Then again, he was being an asshole to her, so he supposed it was probably justified. "Shut-up, princess. Just coz it doesn't affect you doesn't mean you gotta diminish it. Besides, it's you're fault anyway, if you'd been just been looking where you were going instead of daydreaming like a 14 year old girl in love." Then again, she was right, he really did need a nap.

Up close, she really was kind of cute. Scratch that, cute was something else completely. She was pretty. Really pretty. Though Oriel tended to go more for the confident beautiful type. This girl, he'd think was more the kind Kodah would like. Then again, who knew how that kid's preferences had changed. Oriel smirked at the offer. "Well, I guess I can forgive you for a milkshake." He relaxed once she let go, having tensed up more than he thought. He shook his head. "No, I can do it." And he could, even with only one hand. Hell, he could do it with no hands. Which he did, twirling himself like a screw up from the crossed legged sitting position. "Lead the way, Bella."

She was right, Oriel wasn't paying attention either. Not that he would admit it. In fact, he hated her for pointing it out, especially since she was the one who fell on top of him. "I knew I shoulda just let you fall by yourself," he lied.

Yep. Oriel didn't like this girl. She was taking pot shots at him that didn't even make any sense. He wondered if she'd ever sprained her wrist before? If she had, she might have had more sympathy, it hurts like a bitch trying to use said wrist for leverage if you don't know it's hurt. He hated to think how she would've responded if he had actually hurt himself. "Watch it, Princess. Piss me off and you might wake the dragon."

Of course she'd assume he was shoplifting. That was Kodah's thing, not Oriel's. Not that he hadn't before, but that was out of necessity, for the most part. And dares. Lots of dares. He didn't have to do that kind of thing anymore. "Even if I was, it's none of your business."

At least she was willing to make up for her clumsy blunder. Oriel stared at the menu.......his face glazed over as he pretended to be skimming the giant list posted on the wall. "Do they have raspberry?"

When she bowed to him, Oriel fixed his posture and started walking like he really was a shinning knight deserving of her praise. "Well, it's good to know your finally recognizing my superiority." Not that that made up for anything, since she was obviously making fun of him, but at least it was in a way that he could work with.

He still didn't like her. Much.

But at least his little threat shut her up. Oriel was bluffing, really. He knew himself well enough to know he wouldn't do more than yell at her like a brat if she pissed him off too much. At least he hoped he could control himself that well. The most Oriel might do is throw something at her, something that didn't really hurt but was annoying enough to get back at her for being a smart-ass bitch. Not even a fun-assed bitch, but just annoyingly smart, the kind who walked around with an ignorant air of entitlement. The kind of bitch who couldn't even answer a simple, honest question about whether they had a particular flavor or not. He was just asking and she had to respond with an asinine comeback which (inadvertently) poked his ability to read, which was only made more difficult by the sheer number of options all single-spaced on the stupid menu.

Oriel was getting even more irritated, but at least he got his milkshake. He took it and the cake with both hands and started devouring the drink though the straw as he followed the girl outside where he put down his drink to speak. "Well, excuuuuse me, Princess." Oriel grunted as he helped himself to the cake, completely ignoring that he was supposed to be pretending to have a twisted wrist. "I'm in a place I don't want to be, to buy things I don't want, so I can go back to the Institute and do things I don't want to do. I hate crowds enough as it is, and I end up getting knocked around by someone like you. Of course I'm just a teeensy bit hostile." He munched on the cake thinking, at least I got something sweet from it.

Oriel couldn't stand being lectured by her the way she was and he was literally seething fumes from his ears the longer and longer she continued her holier-than-thou sermon. He might have been a hypocrite, but at least he knew he was a hypocrite. But he was just too damn irritated to much more than take a huuuge bite of the chocolate cake and enjoy it to the fullest in front of her until she finally got up and went back into the coffee shop.

Fucking bitch.

Oriel barely got peace and quiet for more than five seconds before he went in after her, pulling his wallet from his back pocket and pulling out a ten. He slammed it down on the counter in front of her sending her a glare that could freeze-over the fiery pits of Mordor, then walked back out without a word.

He had barely enough now to afford his stupid "outfits". Guess he was cooking at "home" for the next two weeks.

Oriel kicked a rock into the street, hitting the windshield of a car. He ran.
