In. Out. In. Out. the repetitive thought was a balm on the teenagers much frazzled mind. Frazzled and confused. Her layer of surface thoughts was running normal, planning some trick to play later, something silly and plain that would never happen because surface thoughts were... well, just that. A cover or blanket to hide what she was really thinking. Not that she needed to hide it from the general populace anyway, but she knew that in just a few minutes she wouldn’t really be alone in her mind. Sitting across from her would be someone who could read her innermost secrets, the dark ones that should stay buried. Along with memories, thoughts, and gleanings that really weren’t hers to share and that she worked hard to keep in her own head. Still, none of that mattered when it all came down to it. What mattered was what had happened, something she wasn’t even so sure of now.
Her inner mind was wrapped in the tightest coil, running itself around in circles as Aki tried to figure out she had fallen so low, and if there was something wrong with her. She had spun so wildly out of control, which was unlike her in a way. For all the trouble she caused the girl kept to some semblance of order, one she maintained as her strict code of what was and wasn’t too far. Yet somehow that one person she didn’t know had incited her to really hurt someone mentally, something she had never done before and never planned on doing again. One of the staff with repressing abilities had taken her back to the school and given her enough detentions to last until the world ended. But she had been recommended to Dr. Neville and there was no getting away from that. So as the veneer she fought so hard to make normal flitted around, her mind ran itself to pieces.
Behind her there was a slight rasp of an opening door and she didn’t even turn around. A sort of presence came into the room and she didn’t try to cover the surface layer of thoughts, just those under it. Even so, her progress was regressing and this little bit of shielding was more like lace. Pretty, but fake and more sheer than crystal. Her thoughts weren’t hidden, just layered. Somehow she wanted to just keep everything inside, but she doubted that would last very long. Thoughts needed to be released at some point, and her journal obviously wasn’t enough.
