You know, Deidra was one of those people who just couldn't help herself. She was happy, chatty, sassy, and made a point of being friends with everyone just because she was able to. Really, she liked everyone in one way or another. Hammel psychologist Dr. Neville was no exception. While she had never needed to talk to him about anything truly troubling she came for the occasional advice and sometimes just to chat for funsies. He was a really friendly, wise person and she enjoyed listening to him. Plus, well, he was able to deal with some of her more random moments. Whether it was because he knew what she was thinking and where her train of thought or because he was just good with people she was never really sure. But it didn't matter to her.
This time she had brought some cookies she had baked at home with her to share, because cookies were yummy. Everyone should have them. She didn't know if he was going to be there or not, but normally she would guess he would be. That made sense, at least in her mind it did anyway. One thing she loved so much about talking to him was the fact that if she trailed off verbally her thought process continued and he knew just what she was trying to say. Sometimes it happened for her when her thoughts were more complex than there were words for. Other times it was just because her attention was caught with something else and divided into two working trains of thought.
The door to his office was cracked slightly. She knocked, but no answer. Maybe he hadn't closed it properly? She didn't even give a thought to the fact that he might have had the door closed for a reason and didn't want anyone in there, but then again she never gave thought to that. Personal space was still sort of a mystery to the girl sometimes. Dr. Neville's office never failed to capture her attention from the moment she walked in. There were books everywhere, neatly stacked and arrayed for easy reading. Pens, paper, magazines...everything was just so....interesting! She set the cookies on his desk and just sort of walking around for a moment, poking things, forgetting the whole reason she was even here.
